I painted my Harley frame 31 years ago with rustoleum primer and black spray can paint. Still looks good after 31 seasons. My 240 is going to getting the same paint job.

I used PB Blaster, let soak, tap them back and forth. More PB Blaster, then with a full curve claw hammer, hook under the the "L" part of the clip and lever on the bracket. They will slid right off.
  4. On the subject of the hand brake, anyone know where to get a dust boot for the handle pivot that is in the tunnel?
  5. Hey, Black Gold Man . Thanks for your post I needed that info also.
  6. Thanks AZ-240z, I think I'll run a bead of silicon around the hole on the tunnel to seal it. With a light under the car I can see light above the bracket. John
  7. could someone tell me what is used for a seal between the e-brake handle and the tunnel?
  8. I found silver change. under the seats and owners manual in the glove box.

Thanks Guys, Now I can finish my heater system. I disasembled the whole system, repainted in and out, replaced the flap seals, foam seals, and installed a Honda blower. If the core checks out I just need a water valve.

  14. Hey Phil, I'm a contractor.#1 what you think is big enough for a barn/shop 99% of the time is small. building a pole barn type of building will keep cost down, and you can get about an R-30 in the side walls. ceiling, in cold country 18-24 inches of blown insulation, not fiberglass, it also helps to put Mylar bubble type insulation between your trusses stapled to the roof decking, it makes a dramatic difference in heat loss/gain. No sky lights facing south you'll roast in the summer, north side only. radiant heat the only way to fly, put down 2 inch high density foam insulation, then 3/8's pex tubing on 12 inch centers 4 inches of concrete.heat with of a 40-50 gallon water or grater water heater. Ceiling needs to be 2 foot above your highest door. With the radiant heat you will have multiple thermostats set at about 62-64 F. with the thermostats at 5 foot from the floor, any more and you will sweat.

I feel your pain. A few weeks ago I removed the windshield from my parts car, got in a hurry, didn't get help, and.............No more window!

Please, let me clarify what I have here. At some point, a PO had new 1/4 panels put on in an attempt to save the Z. The 1/4's are rust and dent free. Unfortunately they are about the only body parts without rust.
  21. Z dreams replied to Z dreams's post in a topic in Open Discussions
Thanks Guys, I .will cut them off. And I agree John, leave as much as possible, and they are a PITA to cut out!

Not much left of my parts Z.Most of it is boxed, bagged, and tagged. only the front suspension and rear 1/4's left. My question, are the 1/4's worth saving? The PO had extensive body work done, and they are in great condition, no rust, no dents. If I were to save them where should i cut? Someone Need them? John

  24. spark,fuel, compression
  25. Thanks zKars, Since I started this thread.I got my 280 heater box out, its a 75, and did some test fitting in my parts car. The 280 box bolts through the fire wall in the same location as the 240 heat box. But the 240 box has welded nut mounts on the firewall. Using the nut mounts for a guide, I drilled 2 holes in the firewall, then cut off the welded nuts, re- drilled the holes to fit the studs on the 280 box. Change the plumping to fit the 240 firewall, use 240 parts to center vent, should be good.
