  1. Don't forget to check with zcardepot! Great prices and even better service
  2. Your right about that head! Many people say its a bad design. I have almost the same engine you will build and i also wasent sure if i would be happy with that head do to all thats been said about it. I live in Sweden and there are NO parts here and i desided to use what I had. I also called a known engine builder in California and he said it's not that bad at all if you do some mods to it. My friend how build my engine also built his engine at the same time using the same parts exept he had an N42 head. I think my car makes slightly more power but that could be the gearing. My car put down 180hp to the rear wheels and I guess that good numbers because the head haven't been ported and I haven't taken my time to really get it tuned yet. Just my thoughts. Im no expert. keep on posting and good luck!
  3. Like Cliff said in the post above^ If you change the seats and valves (as you mentioned) and just clean the ports to match the gasket its not a bad head to use. I have that head on my engine with those changes done to it. After you have changed the seats and valves you should measure your chambers, bigger valves increase the volume, at least mine did. I had 49cc if I remember correct. I had the head shaved to reach 44cc to get to the cr I wanted. But if you run stock camshaft keep it below 10 cr.
  4. Thanks!! Most likely it will not fit, damn! Hunting begins for a R180 input flange i guess. Will be hard to find.
  5. Im about to change my R200 for a Subaru R180 sti diff. I need to change my input flange on the sti diff for an input flange from a datsun R180 but i dont have one of those. But does someone know if the R200 input flange will fit on the sti diff?
  6. Not sure but i think my open R200 without oil is around 75 Ibs. The sti is around 60 Ibs without oil (thats what was written on the parcel it came in).
  7. The mail man delivered my Subaru sti diff today. Time to get the heavy R200 out! Got myself a winter project : )
  8. Thanks! No, i used the late E88 head i had on my car, boat anchor they call them : ) Well not so much i think. I have done no porting on the head But i have bigger valves and steel seats like in the N42 head. Ended up with a cc of 50 in the chambers, bigger valves ad volyme. Shaved the head to get to 44 cc. And i have the msa stage 3 kit. With some porting to the head I think it will easy make over 200hp to the wheels. It still have some power left in the tuning of the carbs. At least my dyno guy said so.
  9. Some pics The new engine feels stronger and stronger, not one singel problem yet. Very happy with the parts i used and the work i had done to the engine. 180whp makes it move pretty fast.
  10. I have got away with writing "gift" on the parcel a couple of times but a couple of years ago I started to get a mail from the customs every time were they claimed i was fooling them ; ) Still try to do it when i buy used parts but not with new ones.
  11. Bought the one from Amazon. Im shipping it to a friends friend in the us and then he will ship it to me. That way I will probobly not have to pay the import taxes. Did the same with my cam kit from Msa and it worked well. Example: Msa wanted 200$ in shipping cost + the 800$ price for the part itself. (msa have a very high cost for shipping, they ad like 100% on the shipping cost. I buy most parts from Zcardepot, they are a lot closer to reality regarding the cost for shipping and also provide outstanding service) Then it would have been 20-25% import tax on top of the total 1000$. I ended up paying 82$ in total shipping cost (shipping from Msa to the guy that helped me in the us , and from him to me in Sweden) and he wrote a total value of 130$ on the parcel. That way I only had to pay around 20$ in import tax. But its a gamble, if the part gets lost its not fun with that low value. Its expensive to own a Z in Europe : (
  12. Thanks!! Have never bought anything from rockauto or amazon. Will check it out!
  13. I took mine apart when i discovered that my spare one had a different bolt pattern. It was the big gasket/seal that had 2 holes in it. I repaired it with glue, "Layer patch"for bicycle tires and some ductape. It's working fine but it won't hold for long.
  14. Im in europe (Sweden) im used to pay at least twice the money for parts do to shipping and import taxes. I can get around the import tax with some "lower value on the parcel" but most parts stores dont do you that favor ; )
  15. Need a new brake booster for my 240z -73. Dident know that the -73 had a bigger one then the earlier years. Anyone know were i could get one? I can only find the smaller one. Thanks
  16. IMG_7036.MOVDyno run today! 180 hp/240 Nm to the wheels!u Theres some more power to be had in tuning but it runs great as it is so I don't think I'm going to spend more time on the tuning unless I get some port work done to the head. im happy with the numbers it's not a race car.
  17. Dyno tuning has been done! had almost the "perfect" settings in timing and carbs. We had to changed the air jets to 160 instead of 155 to make it a bit leaner. That made a difference as it now makes power all the way to 6800 rpms before it flattens and dropps at 7100. Now to the Sad part. Something made the dyno read to much horsepower (366 engine hp) when i let of the gas at 7000 rpms (to much resistance said the dyno guy) could depend on bad bushings or something else?? Don't know?? He dident either. Problem only occurred when I let of between 7000-5500 rpms after that it was normal. But I will have a go at another dyno this week or next. A dyno that connects to the hubbs this time (No rollers), that should give me some numbers. So now to what he calculated the hp to. And this is just what he estimated it to with the data that was accurate. Around 220-240 Engine hp. Well we will know in a week or two.
  18. Great!! Good luck and hope everything about the car is what you think it is.
  19. Its a late 71. It has a 5 speed. us import ( Carlifornia car) Passed inspections last week without any problems. You can send him your questions on this adress: lennart.linnefell@netatonce.net //Andreas
  20. Booked the dyno for the final tuning of my new engine!!! Runs great as it is but a good tune can make it even better I hope. 25 this month is the date when it will be done! Damn I hope the dyno guy finds some hidden ponys : )
  21. This one is for sale i Sweden (closer to you) its a friend of mine who is selling. 1971 if i remember correctly, 918 color, no rust, L28 engine.
  22. Looks great!! ^^ Im going to this years first car show on Wednesday, If the weather is good.
