  1. Short trip today and first proper wash for 5 month. The new engine fires up every time. But do to the higher cr the starter has a havier job to do and i guess i should change it to a more powerfull one.
  2. Another 60 km done on my new engine. Runs fine, idles fine at 800rpm, good power on the low end and feels very strong above 3000 rpms. Havent taken it higher then 5000 rpms yet but it feels like it will make power even a bit beyond 6000 rpm. And looks like I'm getting around the same fuel consumption as before with the su carbs and lower cr. As long as I'm careful with the throttle that is.
  3. Tomorrow i finaly found some time to bring my car home from the engine builder. Hoping for a great 180km drive home and then i guess ill have to put another 300km before i let it climb up in the higher rpms. Timeing is set at 19 at idle and shows 36 at 3500 rpms and No detonation issues.
  4. Sad day! John will be missed. RIP
  5. Bought a "new" steering wheel. A Fairlady steering wheel.
  6. First time for me with triples, hope i can live with them. Wounder how it sounds around 6000 rpms.

  10. Hhmm.....That sound clip don't work, at least it doesn't on my phone.
  11. Dropping the engine back in this weekend : ) Cleaned up the engine bay a bit. Im so interested in seeing how the cheap triple 45s will perform when the engine is broken in. My friend how builds my engine also has build a similar engine for his car and that one is already back in his car and seams to run well. But it's not broken in yet. My friends car: IMG_6628.mp4
  12. I used Itm pistons for my L28 build but bought rings from Hastings. Itm pistons are good but their rings arent. Thats the info i got from people using Itm.
  13. Looks like a great car to restore! And lucky you it's a safari gold car. Love that color. Keep posting your progress! //Andreas
  14. Mesured as good as I could then I dropped the ones that needed grinding of at a shop. Took the last bit of with a flat file.
  15. I bought the Schnider kit from msa. Lashpads i was sent were in size 190 but i had to grind some of them to get the proper wipe pattern.
  16. Lots of time spent on getting the lashpads size correct. But its now getting closer to drop the engine back in.
  17. I think the Z-L in your pic is 903. Colors look very similar so get some samples. My 72 was 115
  18. I will use shims. The head was shaved 0.5 mm by the previous owner and had shimes under the towers so that was my plan. I have the shims already. Hope it workes.
