Advice on Recent 1978 280Z Purchase
Swapping out the front and rear bumpers is not just a weekend job and to be done correctly needs bodywork and paint. When done properly (ie looking stock) it's not a simple case of swapping back. Agreed for the engine pull* - clean underneath thoroughly first BUT it will look 100% better red under there *just thinking that the tranny swap would be easier out of the car ! I certainly didn't suggest that values won't rise but did say that you won't lose any value by swapping the tranny and bumpers and, imo the value of the car will raise because of this and even more with a red-under-hood ! As an aside to what I suggested for a more lively Z, swap the exhaust and headers too which obliges to delete the EGR and Cat, both of which will help the old girl breathe better. I'm not saying this from an interested point of view, I believe it to be a recognised fact now. I'm expecting a 10-15% power and torque increase and more importantly, up to 500 revs lower down which won't harm her acceleration. In photos, my 280Z as she is now (I chose a Skillard, black, full grille because the stock one, once the fed bumper has been removed leaves a gaping, unsightly hole) ! Swapping out the lower, front valence is the easiest way of losing the look that 'something is missing' AND giving the car your personalised look whether that be stock or sportier ; the front valence invariably needs painting anyway from chips etc so why not start afresh ? I fitted Euro rear lights and transparent side repeaters - the front will have Klearz 10% smoked lenses.

Advice on Recent 1978 280Z Purchase
Lovely car - was watching on BAT. Forget originality - these cars will never have the value of the earlier S30s so indulge yourself improving it which will add value : Front and rear bumper swap for the early versions Swap the auto for a 5xspeed with lightened flywheel and plan to have the engine out and bay painted in the same red Swap the diff for a 3.9, whether an R200 or R180 with LSD from a Subaru. Fit your choice of wheels, shiny suits the red best (better than black anyway) Result : L28, EFi, lively box and diff, clean and red all over = minimum $25k car you can thoroughly enjoy on any road at any speed. Congrats.

Muffler
I haven't posted any videos - that posted by heyitsrama is of a Z with my Street-Sport header, line and JDM muffler combined.
-
Muffler
Thanks......and as stated, this has already been done : MSA 6-1 headers plus my line and rear muffler.😏

Muffler
Hi. It's already been done by a client. The only hurdle is to extend the 2-1 collector back to join with my line which begins with the reasonator at the rear of the gearbox. I would reccomend lengthening the twin pipes to finish as far back as possible and I will supply you, free, with an extra V-band kit so as to make a gas-tight fit or it might be possible to use one half of my new down-pipe kit (which'll be available in late March). I'll have exhaust lines back in stock at end of January....Covid affects us all with delays at each level ; everyone talks of GNPs but I wonder if the worlds' economy hasn't shrunk since March ! Kind regards, Sean

Muffler
Hi. I had one back in 1990 and it was LOUD ! To give an idea, I changed it for an MSA Twice-pipe sstem which was more supportable especially on longish distances. The advert seems to be confused - it talks about making them up then quote 1970s' material.....so these are parts of +40yrs old ? Resonators Custom made to your order using NOS vintage parts and High Temp paint with a black wrinkle finish on the main body. ANSA will be made in your choice.......Note: some pipes may include slight imperfections in the chrome from original manufacturing process in the 1970's. And they'll need specialised fitting in an exhaust shop with the pipe making between your headers and muffler (please fit a resonator in the line somewhere just after the gearbox) : Mounting brackets will need to added by installer to set the ANSA how you like it sit on your car better than the stock factory muffler mounting tabs. And, IMHO, rather expensive for mild steel which will begin to oxydate after fitting $500 shipped and insured in the U.S. As a comparison, my JDM muffler costs us$261 shipped and I currently have a Blem. unit on sale at us$190 shipped : Lastly, I'm not impressed by the welding quality on the show model displayed in the advert and what does it weigh ? It looks heavy and for reference, my JDM weighs in at just 8.6lbs (3.9kgs). Hard to be objective given the price vs. quality offered but I would be wary and it was just another aftermarket option back then, no dealer option.

Thanks. For my exhaust lines - I'll have them in January. Headers...and my new downpipes from stock manifolds to my lines more like March. Everyone is experiencing delays due to Covid-19 - this is the backlash from earlier in the year and companies desperate to place orders now because they don't forecast an improvement in 2021. Be patient, stay safe and live to enjoy your improved Z in the summer. ps always fit a resonator - it's not just about noise levels and eliminating drone (@7tooZ is right) but engine performance - not having one might sound faster but in reality, you could be losing up to 20hp : Google 'exhaust scavenging '! If you want some more unbiased advice via PM.....write me !

I hate Chinese "Metal"
There's always a villain for each decade.....once upon a time, Japan was supposedly buying up huge quantities of scrap metal from which to produce cars and consumer goods....all this at a moment when they were investing incredibly strongly in there steel development and production which became the best in the world car exports went up - pocket radios, microwave ovens, walkmans (mostly plastic ok!) and their ship-building yards had huge order books filled.......the natural 'defense' of other countries was not to look at what they doing wrong, it was that Japan was 'cheating' by using any old iron'......."do you want your new toaster to be made from a 40yr old scrap Caddy ?'' Then it was the pastics invasion from Hong Kong - everything you could buy was "Made in HK''. Then Eastern Europe, now China, soon Korea, India, Brazil and let's not foirget your specific markets by Mexico - I know, lets not just build a 'trade-wall' but a real one......I digress, sorry but whom do you guys believe you'll be protecting ? a) the US consumer b) the US retailer c) the US conglomerate d) the foreign conglomerate e) the poorly paid, hard working machine operative who only wants a better life for his kids and has the least say in the matter f) all of the above g) none of the above.......please develop !

You make this all so personal Alan. What needed and wanted to be said has been, repeatedly and provocatively. When anyone else wants a set of either wheel type, please PM me - I'm switching off notifications of this thread. Yo'all have a great weekend - very wet and stormy here so I'm off down to my store to wrap some exhausts.

Parts for Sale: 4x reproduction Nissan Fairlady Z432 wheels in aluminum
Hi, I thought that we had moved on ! I hope that you wrote this in the heat of the moment : How would you describe my 'attitude' please ? I have read (listened) to every word in this post (a lot of it very-personal opinions unbased in fact) and with respect, you and the others know very little of the circumstances of these wheels becomming on sale here at an affordable price and even discounted for donating members - there's a lot more to it and you could have PM-ed me to find out before such a post ! No hard feelings. There has been a systematic smear campagin of fake news and scaremongering the moment these wheels came up for sale in the UK now reduced to a wild hypothesis that M-Speed test each wheel received, rejected hundreds and returned them to the factory to be sold out the back door as potentially faulty. C'mon, in those circumstances wouldn't the responsable company action be to keep or destroy them to prevent their misuse/resale ? I don't understand how my exhausts and bronze oil-drives have any relation to these wheel sales and disappointedly consider it quite spiteful of you to attempt to damage those sales. I've been producing these for over 10 years, learnt a lot, revised and developed, built up a good reputation and the last 9x years of which have been aimed at paying off the credit taken out after my 'partner' dropped me in the sh*t. The same could be said of anyone selling any second-hand wheels or new after-market brakes and suspension which have disclaimers on them stating "off-road use only" - let's remain realistic please. These wheels are no worse or better than those sold in Japan under the guise of being non-Chinese wheels - why else would the demanding company, in this case M-Speed, insist upon or accept the 'Made in China' casting ground off ? They were even reccomended to friends of a participant here and the Japanese bought them in confidence ! I'm think that I'm paying the same factory price for the wheels as M-Speed. I have overheads just as they do namely the shipping and customs to Europe, sales tax here, (social charges and 'business-space tax' - it's a French thing !) and finally the handling costs of shipping elsewhere. I have placed a reasonable profit on these wheels which'll allow me to reinvest that into new products which you'll see later this year. I believe that M-Speed made a grave error in choosing 14'' as a diameter but as Alan said, they were made and destined for the JDM (purists and also Z432 owners who perhaps want to keep their original wheels safe indoors ?). They were therefore never intended to be sold in the USA or other export countries. Owners are therefore lucky to have three* suppliers in the US to choose from, simply with different pricing : direct off M-Speed via Yahoo.jp.auctions, JDM parts here or me. *I always understood that America stood for free trade and choice and anti-monopolies. I've read your rant about Chinese parts in aeroplanes......just open your cell-phone and see where they're made : China produces to a budget - tell them to make something for 2 cents and they will but it'll be crap : either M-Speed had given the factory a realistic budget for quality goods or not......and if not, we're all in the brine ! If there is one BIG difference between myself and other retailers, it's that I am a Z owner with a 'club spirit' who still remembers what it's like to be the other side of the counter buying at distance from un unamed, faceless website. I back up any of my sales with replacement or reimbursement AND take the time to listen and advise existing and potentiel clients on a range of subjects - not just those I've sold. Now please, can we turn the page - if I don't sell from this forum, it's not a problem - you've been informed and we've all had an animated, 'free-speech' discussion. These wheels are selling and I've had several messages of support following certain vitriolic posts.

Parts for Sale: 4x reproduction Nissan Fairlady Z432 wheels in aluminum
Who, since the mid '60s bought all the Japanese cars, motorbikes, radios, Walkmans (showing my age), ships....who invited them to build factories in our countries ? And Burma, India, Bangladesh, Parkistan plus oil from Iran, Saudia Arabia.......the worlds isn't a 'clean ' place.
