is there a backside picture of the heater switch? the two cables in the backside of this snapped off. i'm trying to see if there were circular clamps to hold the cable housing in place like it does on the topside. if it does, i'm screwed cause mine is missing them.

NM, it doesnt. MSA doesnt sell the series 1 boots anymore. Ebay has it for $35 though.

does anyone know if this inner shift boot will work on my 11/'70 240? http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/40-2504 my boot is torn, i can see the ground -.- it never ceases to amaze me how simple cars were back in the days.
  4. It's amazing what you have done with the Z Dave. Quite the journal. You should've made a Targa Z haha. I really like the custom fabricated front grill. I installed the BRE front air dam and it really opened up the lower section. Your custom grill fills up that gap. Where does one buy such a grill or any suggestions on how to make one?

  6. I want to make sure this is correct? In my glove box it reads 175HR14 or 6.45H14. Cause if this is the case, my 205/60/15 tire is running about 9% slower than OE. So that means if my speedo reads 65mph on the freeway, in actuality I'm only doing about 59mph. I'm going to drive faster if that is the case Will the variance effect my braking ability? Our cars didnt come with ABS right?
  7. Does anyone happen to know the order in re-installing the steering wheel components and the horn? I ended up taking my wheel off and restored it (turned out great!). But currently confused as to how to get the pictured pieces back together. I know, I know, take a photo before I start ripping everything apart.
  8. I'm still struggling, sorry! I tried every combination there is. I tried to attach the relay to the top screw and to the bottom screw and still cant manage to close the case. you're referring to the top screws (the pair that faces opposite direction; located in the middle section of this photo) that holds the ignition crank piece to the steering column correct? this seriously needs a photo write-up
  9. thanks everyone for your contribution in answering my question! that tombstone/horseshoe washer/retain was a crucial piece. i'm glad i got it put back together. i didnt even know i was missing one of the two plastic washers (found it underneath the drivers seat). the help and information on this forum is invaluable, way better than hybridZ.
  10. Found this image. It has that same tombstone shaped washer. Where does it go?
  11. Dave, I have a late 1970 Z. This is the lower linkage: Upper pull part where throttle cable attaches to: There is a left over washer shaped in the form of a tombstone. Cant figure out where it goes: Any idea? And if you don't mind Dave, did I install the parking light upgrade harness correct (I believe you supply this for MSA)? I haven't figure out a way to get that large square relay to fit under the steering column, can't bolt the lower cover back on. The instruction says for the relay to be held together with the ground wire and screw closet to the steering wheel, parallel to the steering column but there is no way the relay loop will permit that. Thanks!!
  12. Yesterday night I took apart my center console in haste n didnt take a pic of the throttle choke assembly before removing it. May be a long shot but does anyone have a pic of it? I think I got the pivoting part put back together to the V shaped housing. Think I'm off were the cable latches onto the cylinder screw.
  13. I have the opposite issue. I'm about to drill holes on my rear hatch. It kills me to do it, but I really like the look of the BRE spoiler to compliment my front air dam (plus I'm crossing my fingers it will help solve my fume issue). Can anyone suggest any precautions I can do once I drill the holes? Treat the drilled out holes with some Rust-Oleum spray paint? I'm thinking of using rubber washers to seal it up properly with the backside's nut.
  14. I thought the hatch weather strip from MSA is backordered indefinitely?
  15. did you have the shave the front air dam cause the 245 tires were rubbing it?
  16. What size lip are the Rota's with the 16x8 +4?
  17. bavarian06 replied to -speed240z's post in a topic in Wheels & Brakes
70 Cam Guy, are those Rota wheels on your car in your avator? I'm digging your stance. Can you share what you are lowered on and rim width and offset? I was thinking 15/16 diameter x 8 or 9 width and front ET-10/ rear -19 on eibach spring drop. Would that work? OP, why such wide rims? Unless you plan on putting really wide rubber, no sense in wide rims. Usually 9.5/10 width rims are 275 tires. I'm sure that requires large fender flares (which you do have; does that require cutting away at the quarter panels?).
  18. what were the offsets on the CCW classic wheels? i think i would only want CO if i want to setup my car with rims that are wide and with aggressive offsets.
  19. wow that is low. any pictures? that's running on "bags" levels. i'm just looking to eliminate fender gap, doesnt have to be that aggressive.
  20. How much of a drop will Eibach or Tokico springs offer? I dont want to modify my struts since I would like to keep my series 1 as original as possible. I'm running 205/70/15 tires? I can't remember.
  21. I know I'm reviving a very old thread but it beats me starting another one right? So from my research, to effectively have a coilover setup on the '70 Z, I would have cut off a section of the strut tube and weld on the coilover's threaded sleeve and etc? Or I want to fork over about $4K for a complete built set like the ones beta motorsports sells? What is the max drop of all the springs that are available if I dont want to go this route? Obviously I would need a new shock cartridge that can support the limited travel, any recommendations (Illumina or Bilsten?). How about spring rates for front and rear? I will not track this car. Basically I want to work on the car's stance (eliminate the fender gap).
  22. I think its just a way to express yourself, through your car. I think ghost flames and wacky hood scoops are lame but it's not my car. I think everyone was quick bash, even on the OP. I personally appreciate the stance of this car and massive negative camber the guy is running. It's "hella flush" as younger kids would call it. Would I personally do that to my car? No.
  23. bavarian06 replied to logan1's post in a topic in Body & Paint
i'm having my front air dam color matched to my guards red Z but the flares and rear spoiler is flat black.
  24. wow, great write-up, thanks!
