1971 rebuild
MSA windshield and Hatch were a good fit. Windshield was done in 2007 and hatch and rear quarter glass done in summer 2012. fits snug as they should. Never had any problems with the door rubber. The only door problems I had was due to worn out / misaligned strikers and the lack of dovetails that guided them into correct positioning. The doors took some time to adjust the way they were hung at each the hinge and striker brackets. Once that was rectified the doors close like new. What section of the rubber is blocking your door from closing properly? The seals on the upper front have tabs that get glued into place below the door panel in a section.

1971 rebuild
I got the kit from MSA and have been happy with it. New rubber really makes the car look great.

Sound deadening and heat shielding materials
I went with Dynamat lining directly to the inner plastic side panels, and the entire wheel well. I have the horizontal rear panel speaker box that MSA sells, duel side speakers in stock brackets (Passanger side one created and rebent to install on that side) and a Subwoofer installed in a PyleDriver box (sub box made to look like a tire generally installed inside rear of SUV's) cut to sit shallower in wheel well. No rattle so far.

Xmas in April - just got ALL my parts!!
I remember those days when the "Large" orders were rolling in. Now it's small detailing or hard to find items left to scavenge hunt for. Looks like you have some fun ahead of you there.

Personalized plates
right now affixed to the is vintage 1972 Illinois plates but each of my automobiles has TAZ (which is the first three leters of my last name) included in the plate. When my Z is done It will have that integrated in the plates name. I did grab a plate that says "BAD 280" from a salvage yard. my cars a 240 but still nice to grab at no cost, just to have, nonetheless.

71 240z hatch strut mount
havn't seen the bracket sold by itself. Mine actually just popped it's weld over the weekend and came off. I was able to clean it up and screw it back into place through the hols where the weld was alond the drip rail in the hatch. If you do not have the bracket at all the only thing I have seen receintly is...Zeddsaver selling this on ebay. Datsun 240Z Rear Hatch Strut | eBay You could email Norm at Zeddsaver tosee if he sells just the bracket. his email address: zeddsaver@zeddsaver.com ~Taz0162

is there a listing of Ports of entry into the US for each year that Datsun utilized? I found my 05/72 car in Illinois so my guess (but could be wrong) is that Jackson FL was the port of entry. Can anyone confirm what ports were used? and the likelyhood of that port being used for delivery to an Illinois Dealership for sale?

Post Your Original Decal Pictures Here
What year was this decal on the valve cover? I salvaged one from a Newer model Z at a salvage yard in central IL but have not placed it on my 05/72 240Z as I have heard mixed things about the decal whether it was used my cars year or not.

Add on air on a 240Z
I see it more as a neat period correct accessory that Datsun dealers were authorized to install. It's more for the look of just coming out of the dealers parking lot then actual functionality. If I was looking for Horse power or to lessen weight of the car It and the Smog pump and components would be removed.

Add on air on a 240Z
Yeah Ive got a copy of that at home but wasn't sure if there was any other Z owners out there that still had the original clamps on theirs. The previous owner was not one to keep much original on the car. Not to mention how he Grey Primered the all the parts in the entire engine bay, valve cover, AC unit, hoses, etc. One thing though once you sand the primer off the metel underneath is pretty clean as the primer preserved it. It just takes a while. The AC unit is the last items to clean up from his disaster. But how can I complain with a running $300.00 purchase of a 72' 240Z.

Add on air on a 240Z
This was the question I was going to ask today. I had removed my dealer installed AC unit from my 05/72 240Z but am now in the process of refurbishing the unit to better then new condition with a full polish and paint. Does anyone know what type of hose clamps A R A used with their kits sold to the dealers to install? Were they the wire hose clamp style used throughout the engine bay? my guess is that they are something else.

So what happened to this thred? what was the consensus for a viable place to order Jute that can be cut to the correct shape as needed? are there measurements of the patterns used somewhere?

What are you on the look out for?
Drain hole. You need the drain hole plug to stop those pesky radio knobs from falling through.

What are you on the look out for?
Looking for Amco Passenger Foot Rest, Rear(Already have front) Tie Hooks for a May-1972 240Z, a good source for English Jute Padding to cut for under the carpet, and an Illinois Datsun Dealer Badge/Emblem that would have been affixed to the rear of the car in 1972.

amco parts
@Carl Beck how much for the Amco Footrest Shipped to IL? and how much for the scuff guards shipped? not sure I want them because I would have to drill into my door panels. The roof rack is a little more than I am looking to spend right now for something I know I would never install. I love the exterior roof and body lines of the car.

amco parts
@Jarvo I paid $150.00 shipped from Florida to Illinois. I have now decided to track down the passenger foot rest made by Amco. I ended up with a Japanese version but think the US (Amco branded) might be a better day 2 add-on for a US sold car. Im going to keep the Japanese version as well but am looking to install an Amco One once I find it.

amco parts
Here is my update. So I have tracked down both bumper over riders (each uninstalled) and the parcel bar. Parcel bar installed today and looks great. Amco 240Z floor mats and the Japanese 240Z passenger footrest. Time to track down the US Amco branded passenger footrest. The wooden and leather wrapped shift knobs and door panel scuff guards. Going to hold off until spring for this search after the holidays.
