Plastic vs. metal emblems...
I am having body work and a complete repaint done in my 1970 240z. I have purchased all new trim, weatherstripping and emblems. However, the emblems (which are all from Nissan) are all plastic, but the originals are metal. Will I decrease the value of my restoration by putting these plastic replacement emblems on the car? The original emblems are not damaged, but are missing some paint and the chrome is faded. Any thoughts? Keith

The rust on this car seems to be nicely isolated to the front fenders, rear wheel arches and lower rear valance. All of which I have replacement parts for. The other usual trouble spots, battery tray, rear hatch area, spare tire well and floorboards are all in excellent condition.

Why doesn't my profile photo appear next to my name like everyone else? I have uploaded the photo and I see it when I edit my profile. Keith *** OK, I figured it out. I hadn't assigned an avatar ***

Thanks Dave and Mitchell. My z is #4642, which I was pretty happy with until I read about Alex's FREE #979! I have not registered at zhome yet, but I will. Keith

Hello fellow Z enthusiasts, My name is Keith Johnson. I am from central Ohio, and I own a 1970 240z. It is my second Series 1 z car. (My first was back in the '70s.) As for this one, I'm the third owner, however, the second owner only had the car for a few months before I purchased it (so I think of myself as "essentially" the second owner). The original owner had it for 40 years, but parked it in 1974 with only 52K miles on it. Being from Ohio it has some rust issues, and I think that's why the original owner parked it. (He had even purchased new fenders that he never installed.) It has had some amateur body work on the rear wheel arches, and the fenders have some rust. I got it running over the summer and I am having the body professionally restored over the winter. I'm looking forward to the online friendship, advice and camaraderie of the classiczcars nation.

The owner's manual and warranty service booklet were at the bottom of a mouse nest in the glove compartment. Nasty.
