  1. That would be fun. Most of the hotels around there sell out on race weekends pretty early.
  2. I was there along with our ZROC club. We will be there again this year. We will have a Z car parking area in the infield and do the parade lap at lunch (if you want to). It's a great bunch of people. Come on down!
  3. I have had XM for several years and I like it for the content. I don't listen to it very loud, so I don't really notice any quality problem. Besides, it is in my car with lots of exhaust, wind, and road noise. Like I said, I listen for the content, not the quality. If XM 30 The Loft, and a couple other stations were broadcast on Pandora, I would drop my XM subscription and listen on Pandora. There are XM radio apps for iOS and Android devices now. I wonder if the quality is any better than the satellite broadcast? My 240z has the original AM radio which is useless for music. I am thinking about a couple of small Bluetooth speakers and just streaming from my phone.
  4. I'm hoping I can make it. I've been to that part of Indiana in the past and it is beautiful. Steve, it was nice meeting you at last year's show in Columbus.
  5. Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll pass on the waterless coolant. I had recently seen it on an episode of Wheeler Dealers where they put it in a TR6 claiming that its higher boiling point would help prevent overheating.
  6. Very nice. Those seats look comfortable.
  7. Nice! Do you have any photos of the S2000 seats? That sounds interesting to me.
  8. I've never actually seen this one, but it might be the closest to what you want. Wangan Midnight - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It's actually on Youtube:
  9. Has anyone ever used this waterless coolant in their Z? I'm thinking about trying it out... Jay Leno's Garage - Waterless Engine Coolant | Car Care
  10. I remember going to this movie with my wife and kids (who are in their late teens/early twenties) last year. My kids thought it looked good. Then, when we first saw the 280z we all looked over at each other in the theater, chuckled and gave each other a thumbs up. We knew no matter how bad the movie was, we would like it because the director chose to include that 280z. We did enjoy the movie after all. Quirky is a good description of the movie!

Sorry Fixitman. I plan to keep this toolset with the car. I didn't intend to mislead you with it. I just wanted to show how an original set (at least for a 1970) looks and confirm that the wheel chocks are solid.

My tool set is still in the wrapper. The wheel chocks are not in the wrapper and are solid.
  14. Wow. I'm amazed at the delay between the time they saw the cloud, and the time the shock wave hit. After the flash, it would have been so tempting for everyone to simply go to the window and look at the cloud. That's probably what caused most of the glass-related injuries.
  15. No doubt you've got the bug. Take my advice, and plan on a trip to California to get a rust-free car. Take a look at Craigslist and eBay out west and you will see that good cars go for less money than here in the midwest. It will be a trip of a lifetime, and the car will cost much less in the long run. Enjoy the ride!
  16. Took advantage of a sunny day in February and took the car out for a drive.
  17. I never met him either, but his memory will live-on through the advice he shared here on this site.

I will agree that I live in the rust belt, but it is troubling that this is happening only to my '05 Altima. I have a '95 Ford Taurus with no rust whatsoever, and a '98 Ford F-150 with some rust, but no "holes" like this, and neither of those cars ever see the inside of my garage. I need to take a careful look at my wife's '08 Altima which shares the garage with the 240z. A google search reveals that there are a lot of complaints about rusted-out floorboards on this generation Altima. It's a shame. I really like this car.

Yeah Carl, having lived in Ohio, you've dealt with this before. I've done some searching about this issue and it looks like it is pretty widespread, and Nissan isn't really doing anything about it. The rust-through warranty was 60 months. It wasn't rusted through at that age. I'm not really sure when it started. I had never really looked at that section of the floorboards before. This did not happen overnight. This car cost nearly $30K less than 8 years ago. I need to have a talk with my dealer. I have spend a lot of money there over the years, and so have many of my fellow ZROC friends.

This is very disturbing! These are holes on both sides of the car that are rusted completely through. I just found these the other day when I was under the car replacing my oil pressure gauge sensor. I would expect holes like this on a 240z, but these are on my 2005 Altima SE-R!!
  21. I got tired of trying to polish mine, so I had my body man paint them. They will never pass for chrome, but I'm happy with them.
  22. If you are talking about the wheels in the photos, then they are not OEM and they are not steel. They are aluminum wheels and can be cleaned up with aluminum polish and a lot of elbow grease. Here's a product that looks easy, but I've never used it:
  23. Today I popped it out of gear, pushed it forward a few inches, and put it back in gear so that the tractor with the snow plow on it will fit behind it for the winter instead of the mower. We are officially in snow plowing season in Ohio.
  24. Here's a photo of Sam Posey in the Bob Sharp Racing #33 at Mid-Ohio in 1977 chasing down Walt Mass's 914. Posey ultimately won the GTU event. I was 18 when shot this photo, so there can be no copyright issues here. On the right-hand border of the photo is the imprint of "May 77". Wikipedia says that this race was held in June '77. Hmm. I wonder how I got this photo developed a month before the race? Or could Wikipedia be wrong? I guess there is a slight possibility that I shot this at the 1976 race, and had this print made in 1977. Oh well, it was a long time ago at a place where I have so many great memories. I never would have thought back in 1977 that 35 years later I would still be going to Mid-Ohio every summer, and still driving a 240z! Enjoy!
