HLS30-00721 will soon be razor blades.
I'm so glad you are safe. It is really heartbreaking about the car. I'm sure you can collect a lot of good parts from it. Is it legal to keep the VIN plate?

Do people notice you in your classic Z on the road?
Wow. How fun that this thread has been revived! I never knew it existed. Here are a couple of stories... Back in 1977 when I had my first 240z (I was only 18 at the time), I was visiting my grandmother where she lived at a senior citizen's apartment building. I pulled my car into the parking lot and got out of my car. Right next to me an older woman (maybe in her 70's) was getting out of her car. She looked over at me and asked "Is that your car?" I said "Yes," and she replied "Hot Diggety!" and we each went our own way. It still makes me laugh when I think about it. Last year when I purchased my current 240z project, I had to trailer it home. My wife and I made the 4-hour trip together. As we were driving along the highway, a young man (in his 20's) drove up beside me in a Subaru WRX emphatically gaving me the thumb's up. I think he was more excited about the car than I was. Here's how they looked at the time...

I got my booster from NAPA and it fit perfectly.

Yikes!!! $69k!!!!
Is that supposed to be $6900? That would make more sense.

Finally found a series 1 (56k beware)
Ted, being a fellow Columbus, Ohio area resident (and S1 owner), I can sympathize with your desire to save this car, but don't do it! That is way too much work and I have seen much better $2-3K cars in the area (though not very often). I have been through the rust-repair exercise and it is a long, expensive, frustrating experience. If I were to do it again (and wanted to save money and do some work) I would find a rust-free California or Southern car that needs engine/mechanical work. Those parts are readily-available, predictably-priced, and the repairs are more "fun" to do (at least for me). I'd be glad to help you inspect one if you'd like (just PM me). Keith

[2012] What did you do to/with your S30 today?
Today was an unusually beautiful day for February in Ohio, so I drove my 240z to work for the first time. It was fun to see it out in the parking lot instead of just on my computer screen.

Z Dayz info?
24 ounces, I believe several ZROC members attend. I think I heard at our last meeting that the official hotel is sold out already.

[2012] What did you do to/with your S30 today?
Today I took advantage of our unseasonably warm weather and took the car out for a 45-minute drive! This car has not been driven in February for 20 years! Unfortunately, I discovered that the dash lights didn't want to work. Hmmm. Maybe I should start by installing that parking light upgrade harness that I bought last year, huh Dave?

brake problem: similar symptoms to reaction disk missing
Just a thought... did you bleed the master cylinder? Use the small bleeders on the master and bleed it right back into the MC until there are no bubbles. No amount of slave cylinder bleeding will get bubbles out of the master (that I know of).

I've purchased bolt kits from this company, but I don't know if they have the suspension bolts you need. http://www.mmsacc-stainless.com/html/Datsun.htm

Welcome to the club! The engine compartment looks pretty complete. Dirty, but complete. It even has those braided hoses. How many miles are on it?

Finding Z-Cars by VIN number possible?
Welcome Wick! I too have your wonderful book and refer to it often. I would not be surprised if the owner of 3547 is a member here, and I hope you are put in touch. I often wonder what happened to my first Z that I sold in '77, but I don't even know the VIN #. I hope you continue to visit the site and share your valuable knowledge.

04 Altima Brake Problem
Wow. That is scary. I have a 2005 Altima SE-R. I live in Ohio and (unfortunately) it stays out in the weather all winter long and I've never had that problem, but others have... http://www.doityourself.com/forum/passenger-cars-suv-service-repairs-no-trucks/293925-brakes-dont-work-cold-weather.html
