Great job. Very nice work and the Sportmax wheels look great on it.
  2. Welcome to the club. Honestly, I know nothing about V8 swaps in Zs. Have you been to Hybridz.org?
  3. Vintage Rubber needs to fix their website. The page that says "Just click on your car here..." is not correct. The 260z 2+2 takes you to the 240z page, and the 240z picture takes you to the 260z.
  4. That is a bummer, I hope you were not hurt.
  5. My 1970 (undergoing surgery in the attached photo) does not have that cutout.

I'd go up to $150. Some of these hard to find items are going to be expensive. See the price of nice Series 1 hubcaps lately?

Wow, what a great day for Zs in Southern California. That MSA event had a great turnout. @Motorman7, congrats on the invitation to Muckenthaler Concourse D' Elegance! Let us know how it goes.
  8. That's a nice find.

    Great story. Welcome back!
  10. Today I visited #4642 at the body shop where she is still in chop and cut mode, but the reconstruction begins soon.

That's a cool site. I did not know it existed.
  12. How about this? I have not used it, but it looks promising. http://shop.uniquezproducts.com/Cold-Air-Intake-Kit-Datsun-240z-260z-70-75-1300.htm
  13. It looks like you are well underway. Go for it!
  14. Upbeatppl... I've been thinking about this car. Like everyone is saying, it will cost more than it is worth to restore it. If you try to make it perfect, you will end up wishing you simply bought a better car. However, yesterday on my way to lunch I passed a 280z on the highway. It was the first time I've seen an S30 car on the road in Columbus, Ohio in many months. This car was a complete basket case. I could not even tell what color it was originally. It had lots of bondo, about 6 different colors of paint on it, and maybe even some undercoating on the outside of the body panels. But... it was purring along magnificently and the guy driving it had a big smile on his face. I slowed as I passed him to give him a thumbs-up, but he never looked over. He was too busy enjoying himself. You can be that guy. Get your 240z running, make sure that it is safe to drive (frame rails repaired, new brakes, tires, etc) then get out there and drive it. Enjoy it. Welcome to the club. You will be hooked.
  15. OK. Maybe a dumb question here... What is the red rocker switch next to the rear defroster switch at the bottom of the center console? My '70 does not have that.

While this thread can hardly be called "vintage Z pictures" anymore, it is very some very interesting history. To add to Mike's list of production vs. sales date list, my #4642 produced in 5/70 was sold new on 8/7/1970 in Warren, Ohio. This goes to show how long it was taking these vehicles to get to Ohio.
  17. I talked to Les on March 18th when I ordered a front valance.
  18. I'm thinking about buying some used 14X7 wheels. I have brand new 195/70 R14 tires on my stock steel 14X4.5 wheels. Are those tires wide enough for the 14X7 wheels, or will I need new tires?
  19. I'm in for one pair.
  20. I need some advice... When removing the fiberglass headlight sugar scoops from my old fenders, I broke a few of the bolts. I was actually trying to be careful by soaking them with PB Blaster, wire brushing and backing the nuts on and off when I could, but two out of three on each scoop broke off. One is still long enough to use, but the others are not. Has anyone had any luck replacing these bolts which are embedded in the fiberglass? My search of older posts only found one other reference to these broken bolts from 2003, but no definitive answer on replacing them BTW, I hope I'm using the right terminology. I've heard some people refer to these as headlight buckets, and also the dome-shaped metal cover on the back of the headlight as the headlight bucket. Regardless of what you call it, I broke the bolts on it. :disappoin
  21. The Fiesta was my first new car. You're right. Great gas mileage. I used to get 40 mpg all the time.
  22. In the order I owned them (also) starting in 1976 to the best of my recollection: 1972 Chevrolet Vega GT 1971 Datsun 240z 1978 Ford Fiesta 1980 Ford F250 4X4 1970 Triumph GT6 1975 Buick Regal 197? Toyota Pickup 1977 Chrysler Cordoba 1984 Nissan Sentra 1984 Chevrolet Chevette 1986 Chevrolet Corsica 1993 Chrysler Concorde 1986 Nissan Pickup 1994 Ford Taurus Wagon 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager 2003 Ford Taurus Sedan 1997 Ford Probe GTS * 1995 Ford Taurus Sedan 1999 Chrysler Concorde 1998 Ford F150 * 2005 Nissan Altima SE-R * 1970 Datsun 240z * 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5 S * * indicates those I still own I've dealt with the same insurance agency since I was 16 (I'm now 51) and I recently asked my agent how far my file went back and if he knew the VIN of my first 240z. He did not... his records went back to the Fiesta. One car short of the Z!
