Most effective change or modification - fun list ?
New rubber bushings. Major improvement in ride quality, especially for a daily driver ;0) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

Front brakes locking up
Sounds like you have a bad caliper, might be able to rebuild, but not to expensive to replace. Make sure you either rebuild or replace both calipers so they operate evenly. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

Take a file and put a slight 45 degree on the inner edge of the strut mount (about 1/16"). This will allow you to get the strut between the bushings and won't interfere with the opperation. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

How should a 71 240 4 speed feel?
Thanks for the help guys, looks like I will be heading to the gym dealer. Gearbox is a little crunchy, but so is all the Z cars that I have ever driven. I'll post back after the fluid change and see if anything changes ;0) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

How should a 71 240 4 speed feel?
I'm sorry, I should have had more details. The motor, trans, clutch, clutch master, slave, hard and soft line are all new I have adjusted the pedal according to the FSM and can drive the vehicle all day without issue. The individual who drove the vehicle said he has driven Z,s (not sure of vintage) before, but mostly referenced English imports. This individual was test driving for poss purchase, and I'm wondering if this was just his way of bargining for a lower price or if this is a ligit issue. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

How should a 71 240 4 speed feel?
I hadn't noticed anything wrong, but just had another person drive my car and he seems to think the gearbox is horible. This came as a shock to me, I have had the Trans gone through and have been driving it for 1500 miles, feels fine to me. So I'm asking you with way more experience than I, how would know if the trans is incorrect or if this individual just not used to driving these cars? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

Too big and old for Z
I recently got my girl (3-71 240z) back on the road and after about a month and 1k miles, I'm wondering if this is the car for me. My question her is if I decide to sell her, how much should I ask? The body was completely reworked and painted, motor, trans, and carbs have been rebuilt. New windshield, clutch, master and slave. New brakes all around. All built to stock, with the exception of a modern alt, and headlight harness upgrade.

Looking For Datsun Logo Hats
Now that my girl is back on the road, my wife and I want to start taking road trips to the coast. My wife made the comment after 20 minutes with the windows down, that her hair was a mess, and she needed a hat. So I ask the experts, Where can one fins hats with the original "Datsun" logo?

Clutch Issues
What a difference a new clutch makes !!! Recieved the new carrier and was actually able to adj the clutch to spec's. Can't thank Dave at power torque (perfection clutch) enough for his great customer service. My girl shifts smoother than ever and with the new rebuild on the motor and transmission, is a joy to drive. Next up is the suspension and exhaust. Great to have people who actually care about their product and customers

Clutch Issues
Good news, I called Power Torque (Central ), and discussed the issue with this part # for the earlier Z cars. The guy on the phone (Dave) was suprised to hear about the difference in measurement from earlier and later models, and glad I called this to his attention. He went to the warehouse and grabbed two new kits and confirmed that they indeed did not include the carrier. We discussd how without the carrier, this kit is useless to owners of earlier models. He is making changes in the packaging to include the carrier, or at least make it avail. Innthe mean time, he is shiping me a new carrier overnight at no charge. Can't say enough about how impressed I am with the customer service I recieved today. They deffinatley earned any future buisness I can give them ;o)

Clutch Issues
That is the kit, but only comes with bearing, not the cerrier. Will start looking for another kit or poss a newer carrier. Anyone have any leads?

Clutch Issues
Well I went ahead and droped the trans, and shure as s@#t the pressure plate is indeed the culprit. Original measures 2 1/4" from flywheel to fingers, and the new one measures 1 3/4". Called O'Reiley's to get another and was told that was the only clutch kit listed for 69 - mid 70s. Now my girl sits while I try to locate a proper kit :'o( Anybody know of a good source for the correct kit? Or does anyone have a bearing carrier that will work with this kit? Thanks for all the help, Eric / Yakhopper

Clutch Issues
I deffinatley have the earlier carrier and transmission, all parts are original from 3-71. i will be pulling the trans tonight to verify my suspicions, but am pretty sure the carrier slipped during assembly because there is quite a bit of movement (twist ) in the fork, not feeling connected to the carrier. either way, we will know this evening. thanks again for the assistance, Eric / Yakhopper ;o)

Clutch Issues
Well, here's an update on the clutch issue. Nothing made sense with this, so I decided to put the z back up on stands to get a close look. Sure enough, the rod on the slave was at the longest extension and still not tight. Still thinking the fault lied with the master, I noticed something unusual. The bearing fork was also at max travel (no room for it to swing). It looks like I'm going to have to pull the transmission and see what's going on. At this point I am ruling out hydrolic syster. Obviously it can only be one of four things. Pressure plate too low, wrong carrier, improperly installed carrier (best bet), or fork is bent. Getting off work early today, so should have the answer tonight. Thanks again for all the suggestions and concern. Eric / Yakhopper ;0)

Clutch Issues
Anybody know where I can get a FSM for a 71 240, The link supplied by Beermanpete doesn't show the 71 Ordered both master and slave, but wanted to double check the correct adjustment procedure. Also, I was able to attach the clevis pin at the peddle, but it is at the max adj. also, the threaded pin on the slave is also extended to the max. I still have several inches of free play, and the system wont push enough to free the clutch for a proper shift. I'm getting about 1/2 - 3/4 inch of movement at the slave. I have bench bled the master several times, and the whole system at least 3 times ..... No air in system. Thanks again for the help.

Clutch Issues
So I have adjusted the rod on the master to the max, and the slave is also at max adj. I believe this is the problem that Eurodat is describing, after market has too short adj shaft and not enough movement for the clutch to work properly. Unfortunately after replacing the master and slave, in a hurry to clean the garage on garbage day, i accidentally tossed the original master :0( I am ordering another master and hoping for the best.

Clutch Issues
I adjusted the pushrod on the master to the max extension, but wonder if it wasn't designed to move far enough, thus creating the above issue. Pressure plate appeared the same, though I didn't actually measure it.

Clutch Issues
Need a few words of wisdom from the pros. I replaced the clutch, pressure plate and bearing along with the master, slave, hose, and hard line. All parts were purchased from O'Reiley. Now I can't get enough peddel movement to release the clutch (bled well, and firm peddel). I did notice that the master had a shorter pushrod than the original, but didn't think much as the original had more thread than I needed. Should I look to replace the master, or ? any input would be greatly appreciated. Eric / Yakhopper

71 Value Appraisal
I'm sure the cost will vary depending on driving record, location of vehicle, other drivers in the house etc. best to call a local agent for a quote. I can say that the price was very comparable to other companies basic coverage. Of corse I am getting multi discounts for multipule cars, home owners, and now, also life insurance

71 Value Appraisal
Interesting to hear so many refer Hagerty, I called them first, and was not offered stated value insurance. I told the nice person on the phone that i was looking to cover the vehicle for a fair value, but wanted to be able to drive it when i felt the mood. The nice person politely told me that they offer classic car insurance and that would only cover driving to and from official events/shows and no more than a couple thousand miles per year. Than this nice person suggested to look at other insurance for daily drivers. Good News is that my local State farm agent was kind enough to offer stated value insurance that would have no restrictions on driving or mileage. My baby is now insured for a stated value ($15,000) and the insurance company was very helpful in assessing the value. Just in time for the driving season ;0)
