I have a 1977 Datsun 280z that has been acting up. When I drive the car for a lengthy distance and shut it off, or if it reaches full operating temp, and try to come back 10-15 min later and start the car again the car will sputter and die. It usually takes multiple tries with the gas pedal slightly down to overcome the problem. I just replaced the fuel pressure regulator hoping to fix it but it was no help. Any ideas?
If your still having problems with your idle speed coming down before a stop or when you press down on your clutch (assuming your car is a manuel that is), then I might be able to help. I own a 77 Datsun 280z that had the same problem. Called a guy in california that works on them and all he told me to do was to tighten the nut up on the bottom of the BCDD, which is underneath the throttle body. Try to just tighten up the nut on the bottom and see if it works.
I'm 6'7'' and only 19 years old. I've always wanted a Z car, ever since i was in grade school. As I kept getting taller though i thought my datsun dream would be gone. But i finally bought a 77 280z, and the way i got my 40 inch inseam legs in the thing was to take the arm rest/door handle off. Whatever it takes to fit into a Datsun though.
