    Was going to say.......different transmission.

Appreciate that and confirms what I had thought. Wide ratio but I can swap the front housing off my existing 4 speed. Thanks!

16-1/2 total length to tail shaft casting and 6-5/8 to the cross member hole center.

Don’t know which engine, just know it’s from an 81. Transmission looks like the zx but bellhousing is definitely not the same.

Will this transmission work in an L series swap if the bell housing /front case is changed? Couldn’t find a definitive answer anywhere. Thanks, Dean
  7. The Crane module eliminates the original transistor unit, wiring harness and all.I mounted mine on the drivers side fender well and it pulls power from from the coil wiring harness, uses optical pickups in the distributor that eliminate the magnetic ones.
  8. I had an ignition module issue that was giving me fits until I replaced it with the Crane module and optical dizzy pickup. Stronger, more reliable spark and no more 40 year old ignition demons. Best $109.00 spent on my car.

We have a local distributor here in Vancouver so delivery was no issue at all. I think Costco has them now.

I've got the Danmar Max Jax and love it. Portable and and a really good solution if you don't have ceiling height. Requires some anchors and at least 4" of concrete thickness.

Nice car but "asking" and "getting" are very different things. Dean
  16. Pleasure meeting you and your son yesterday Mike. I'm sure the ski rack on your car caused a few raised eyebrows on the drive..........in the middle of August;) The venue is spectacular for this show.It sure would be nice to see a few more cars out there. I understand there was a scheduling conflict with another show in Oregon that definitely took away some entries. Either way, a good way to spend a Sunday and meet some of the other Datsun guys. Dean
  17. 26mm from the base.
  18. Idle55f9 170 air corrector F11 emulsion 130 mains(way too rich,have ordered 120's Cruise is around 2200 rpm
  19. Great thread here guys, thanks for the information. I have a situation with mine that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on. Dcoe 40's, stock cam l26 f55 idle jets, float level on all set correctly, synced perfectly, timing at 18degrees initial with a recurved dizzy. Cruise afr is 12.5 to 13 but my idle needs to be very rich (9.5) or I get popping through the carbs when transitioning to cruise rpm. Any ideas? Car runs great otherwise. Just a little baffled as to my my idle need to be so rich. Thanks, Dean

Used the MSA six into one as well. Didn't fit well for my application, ended up at my local muffler place to have it tweaked into shape. Also installed a flow through bottle resonator that eliminated the droning......highly recommended. Still howls when you get on it but won't annoy the world when you are cruising around. Dean
  21. Agree with Carl on this one. I've used dot 5 in my Cobra replica from day one. Been seven years now, never had a brake issue, no corrosion, original fluid. For cars that are driven sporadically I think it's great stuff. Don't have to worry about paint issues if you get a leak and it doesn't draw moisture like normal fluid. Also use it in my 260 and the brakes work like normal, no soft pedal. Used it in my clutch master as well. Dean
  22. The other undeniable reality is 40 year old plastic is still 40 years old. I'd much rather spend my money on a rebuilt then taking chances with an NOS piece.

Update. Ignition box had packed it in. Bought a Crane 3000 box with optical trigger, new coil, ditched the ballast and it now runs and starts great. Dean
