If I were designing a modern 240Z......
Agree completely. So much so, I've decided to buy one. It's the modern, simple, rear wheel drive, reasonably priced sports car. Sound familiar?:classic: I'm waiting for the second model year though----I never buy first generation anything, there are always niggling QC and design issues they address in the later versions. Dean

Hatch Hinge Seal Covers
Got mine from a member of http://www.viczcar.com/ the Australian forum. This was before Vintage rubber was producing them. The member goes by Zeddsabath as I recall. Was around $65.00 shipped and they look fantastic. Not sure he is still producing them but worth a shot. Hope this helps. Dean

Transmission Inspection
Mine responded nicely with a hard rap on the clutch fork pivot ball. That bit of extra leverage made all the difference. Thanks for the hints all. Dean

Nice original owner '72 survivor on Ebay with no reserve
Someone actually had a look at the car. Hope the guy's bidding on it are aware of this. From BAT....... I looked at this car in-person a few days ago. Couple of flags here… Seller is not original owner. He has a bill of sale from orig owner to himself (and orig. sales contract and window sticker, etc.) and a registration/title that was not signed over by orig owner. Technically, the paperwork will show the sale went from orig owner to buyer. Car is very dry especially for east coast, however, the car is not as good as the ad leads one to believe. Both doglegs have had rust repair (some minor bubbling and magnet would not stick). Paint is a very basic respray. Primer overspray in places. Hood alignment off; looks like there was collision damage to front left headlight area. Could not get underneath car to get better look. Test drive was limited to a couple of laps around the block due to lack of current registration. Car started immediately from cold. Probable exhaust leak at manifold based on sound. Car warmed up for a few minutes then driven. Car stumbled upon initial acceleration but ran well when it cleared it’s throat. No smoke, shifts fine. Threw alternator belt during drive. Final assessment… anyone bidding on this car should go see it. Realize I am NOT trying to ruin this guy’s auction but I feel this car is not as good as advertised, although certainly better then many. You will, however, quickly be upside down giving this car a proper paint job and other details. This car will need some sorting to be fully useable.

Transmission Inspection
I'm going through the same process with my 260. The original 4 speed is in fine condition but I'm replacing all the seals while it's out of the car. Any hints on getting the front case cover off? Mine is very stuck and don't want to beat on it too hard. Access is a real issue to get any leverage on the thing. Thanks Dean

Cylinder head options
Am looking to restore to new or better. The head I have has worn lifters and am probably looking at a valve job as well. Rebuilt n42's seem to go for pretty reasonable prices......good choice? Dean

Cylinder head options
I am now into the restoration of my motor and have begun to pull the head apart. The center cam lobe is badly galled in has damaged the tower. This has me thinking I should just purchase a rebuilt head and get it over with, this head has 100K on it. Any recommendations? Vendors? It's a stock e88 on a mild 2.6, so I don't need anything exotic. Any input is appreciated Thanks Dean

Rear disk conversion issue
I now have two calipers with the wrong bracket, I thought the same thing...a part mix up....nope. My local guy's can't even source another caliper for this year car, I may be searching a wrecker soon, I'm tired of ordering calipers. Dean

Rear disk conversion issue
Bracket on left is incorrect. Right style fits perfectly, both are supposed to fit '88 Maxima? Did they change these things somewhere in production? Dean

Rear disk conversion issue
I'm doing a rear disk conversion on my 260 and am using the Motorsports brackets with '88 Maxima calipers. My issue is one of the mount brackets on the calipers I have is very different from the other, one works and one doesn't. I'll post some pictures on Saturday. The calipers are exactly the same except for the bracket. Anyone else run into this doing a conversion with the same pieces? Thanks Dean

Fuel pumps with triple Webers

Suggest a cheap, quiet, fuel pump for my triples.
Thanks Mike, exactly what I was looking for. It was the 600rpm relay that had me head scratching, your link is a goldmine for anyone thinking of this conversion. Dean

Mike, I plan on doing exactly what you have. What circuit did you pull power from? Thanks Dean

Silver Paint Recommendation?
No. It actually has less metallic than the Mercedes silver and a darker tone. Dean

Another bumper question
I am in the process of converting my 260 bumpers to the pulled in 72 style and have a few questions. What bracket or mount goes on the outer ends? Is there a filler that goes in between the grill and bumper? Thanks in advance. I don't have an early car to use as reference and couldn't find anything in the archives. Dean

Go canucks!!
I enjoyed it:) Second period meltdown by San Jose and the the game's over. Don't want to jinx the 40 year drought, but I'm sensing the wait may be close to over. Dean

Harrington Group Bumpers (project in process) 1973 240z bumper swap
I'm going this route on my 260 as well. Are you filling the holes left by the shock struts in the rear? Is it all 72' brackets to make it work? Thanks Dean
