  1. Thanks everybody! Today was another great day: my friend and I tested the engine compression and it showed a healthy 180 PSI on all 6 cylinders. I'm gonna buy a L24 to keep the car true to its origins, that and because i fell in love with hi-revving L6 engines. Sadly the SUs are going with the engine. (I sold the engine for 500$) Its an aftermarket radiator overflow bottle. Looks awful in there.
  2. Today was a great day: I started up the engine but is running on the rear carburetor only, the front one is leaking fuel from a vacuum line. Its awesome: Just a battery, breaker point adjustment and it started even with the 6months old fuel! Here's a Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uc_wyEIN6vo

The 240 i bought yesterday has a kind of Air Conditioning system that looks kinda "factory", sadly i forgot to took pictures of the A/C control that is down the ignition key cylinder...its small, black and has a knob wich reads COLDER towards one side. The regular controls look fairly normal to me. The A/C compressor isn't the big square one because teh engine was replaced with a newer one from a S130 and the A/C compressor looks more "modern". Look on the left side, the corner of that little black box can be seen What system is that? Is a Aftermarket unit? Or a Dealer installed one? Thanks everybody, im VERY interested in making the A/C operative, here where i live is hot city and can reach temperatures over 120°F any day on summer.
  5. Thanks for your support, its great when people understand my love for these nice Datsuns
  6. Hi everybody, I Registered yesterday to get some help and make new friends I'm in the process of buying a early 240Z and in currently resto-modding a '78 280Z, but I want the 240 to be as original as possible. Some facts about me: I live in the Capital city of the State of Baja California: Mexicali, wich is near zip code 92231 (Calexico). Both Calexico & Mexicali are sister cities was far as I know. There is a border crossing so every month i make some trips to Calexico for food, paying some bills... Im 24 years old, single and i own a appliance rental shop, specialized in rental and repair of washers and dryers. About my cars: The 280Z that i bought about a year and a half ago was REALLY rusted, i made the effort to make it driveable but it was a pain so i decided to take apart everything and paint, replace or restore every bit in the car. Currently the shell is awaiting for sand blast. The 280 will receive a RB20 engine, but sadly that engine came with melted pistons that damaged the cylinder walls and now it needs oversize pistons Last week, 2 friends of mine told me about a 240Z for sale but they didn't know the correct adress, so i went to seek the car street by street, block by block until I found it. The i came with another friend who is helping me to pay for the car, the owner was asking 700 dollars so my friend gave 300 and i put the another 400 dollars to take the car. I'll be keeping the shell and he will get the engine: a "high compression" L28 with the 3 screw SUs. I think its a fair deal because i will get the older engine my friend has in his Z, a 74 260 with a L26. Both engines, the 26 and the 28 need to be completely rebuild. So here are a few photos of the 240, built January 1971 VIN # 19708 And this is my 280 the day i bought it
