Mistaken Identity
Has anyone seen your modified car and mistaken it for another? People at the gas station give lots of looks to my Z and have asked what it is. I ‘m hoping they think it is a Ferrari of course. Folks always mistake my RX-7 w/ wide body kit for a Porsche. What modified cars have you had that are of confusing identity to general public?

Got Bike?
I’m going out to the edge again. Do you ride road or mountain? What machines are in your current collection & what do you lust for? Have you ever raced or riden hard? My roads include Trek Madone, Cannondale R3000, Bianchi Veloce, but favorite is Trek 2300..or maybe Italian Super Strada Torpado (old school friction shifters). Mountains include all hard tails: Liitespeed Pisgah, GT Zaskar, Trek 7000 (pictured on matching Miata). Then there is my Stingray “Grey Ghostâ€â€¦ What bikes do you ride and/or want?

Rear Bumper Ideas
The boys are going to want us to do studies and want results of each hit...

Rear Bumper Ideas
With no rear bumper at all on my Z and a fiberglass front, well a hit would be a disaster. Only thing I can say is it would be less of a nightmare than if the hit was to a 4 million dollar 250GTO which I modeled my car from... I really have no way to justify leaving the rear smooth other than vanity. Living on a prayer.

What's the best way to determine Z value
This is the worst blow. Doesn't matter how much love & care you put into your machine, value is how much it's worth standing alone in front of a firing squad. WTF can a poor boy do? You must find the right market, ie, Z car boys wanting your prize. Good luck finding someone to appreciate what you have.

Rear Bumper Ideas
I designed all bodywork myself after a combo of Ferrari 250GTO or 275GTB. I found the fiberglass spoiler with the intent to have it bonded smoothly on as duck tail and having the bumper indentations filled. Found the Ferrari vents online as well as fiberglass front bumper. David Kuhn Restorations made it happen a little over 10 years ago. He also painted the car. You can reach Dave at Kuhnrestor@aol.com. Dave mainly works on exotics: Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc, but does some classic American muscle, European sports cars, and custom concept/creative stuff. You may tell him I sent you.

Period correct wheels
Just give me some choices for wheels to fit the 1972 bolt pattern w/ backspace. I absolutely hate all period stuff!

the most awesom invention of all time
Yeah, well that car not only traveled through time to save the universe as we know it, but works the vintage race track turning heads every time. The vision of that car rocked the automotive design world & deserves its place in history.

Rear Bumper Ideas
Ok, the blending of the rear end to be one smooth finish is all Italian like Michelangelo. That’s how I did mine. The clean lines are divine.

Rear Bumper Ideas
I'm w/ JFA. All custom work should be in the ideal world "original" & would depend completely on your taste. However, artistic judgement adds rules & regulations established by centuries of the greats. Talking what the bumpers do with the lines of the car can be standardized but there are quite a few variations. Try your designs in Photoshop & post for us!

gas tank cleaning (not from z)
Eeeew! I need to clean my Z's tank. There must be some solvent that will dissolve petroleum products but doesn’t eat the metal. Will be discussing w/ my mechanic (Carter Racing) & will relay any pearls. Love to hear all ideas that don’t cost a fortune. The Challenger rocks! Show me more photos...

240-Lower or not Lower?
I have Suspension Technique springs & Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustable shocks. Only problem I've had is the L rear tire rubbing the fender a bit during hard cornering. The suspension feels like a sportscar's should. With the ajustability I can go softer - but keep it dialed up stiff mostly. Most cars look sleeker yet tasteful & handle better in corners lowered an inch, IMO. My RZ-7 has Racing Beat springs & Tokiko HP shocks - which, plus RB sways, made a HUGE difference in cornering. Don't see how I ever autoXed without. I'm getting ready to do the springs/shocks in the Miata right now & Eibachs come highly recommended.

Just introducing myself
Sounds like a great bonding op! Pix please?

Running Rich or Lean? How to really tell?
I have a meter mounted over my steering wheel that runs a row of lights depending on the mixture. Got this when I had my Jackson Racing supercharger installed. It just shows the basic rich or lean running. Got from R-Speed who installed my supercharger.

Drum to Disc Conversion Advice
Thanks guys for the tips! I will check out the HybredZ site. Never heard of it untill now. I've let my Z sit for quite some time & not upgraded anything. My mechanic can & has done the drum - disc conversion but I wanted a few more ideas before I jumped. I just know the drum brakes on my RX-7 suck big-time on a road track. I've never really explored "brake fade" like I'd like to... Thanks again for the details.

Drum to Disc Conversion Advice
Hls30 & SSuspect: sorry I posted this in the wrong forum. Are Toyota parts what most use? The pix look so sweet compared to the stock junk I have that needs rebuild. My car was scheduled to go on the dyno but the brake fluid spewed. Mickey sugested the conversion but I'm not sure what to do at this point as I need rust control 1st. Thanks.
