  1. Send you a PM Bhermes.
  2. Looks you had a great time. Some great shots you took as I browsed your album. So jealous.
  3. Looks great.
  4. I love the Gun Metallic or Graphite Metallic on the newer style Zs, which is what I will paint my 78 once I piece together and fabricate a rear. Although the original silver is hard to beat.
  5. Last time I did a pallet from a truck, I used 2x4s and slid it down and had the truck on the street/curb with the pallet going to the driveway. So instead of the normal 3 foot or so, I had under 2 feet to drop. Also had a friend to maintain resistance so it wouldn't slide too fast. Also would help being on the street or curb, if your Hoist is just not high enough to reach, would give you an extra bit of room to grab it. G'luck.
  6. After experiencing the discomfort and embarrassment of a prostate test by the National Health Service, a guy decided to have this next test carried out while visiting friends in San Francisco, where the beautiful nurses are allegedly much more gentle and accommodating. As he lay naked on his side on the table and the nurse began the examination. "Don't worry, at this stage of the procedure it's quite normal to get an erection." said the nurse. "I haven't got an erection," said the man. "No, but I have," replied the nurse.
  7. Very nice.
  8. Have fun and be safe, and yes photos please!

After taking yesterday off, I decided to get back to the front suspension to take it apart. After taking it all apart, seems that my brother already installed some adjustable Tokico Illuminas, some time ago. Was a nice surprise for me, so going to have some tokico blues for anyone interested soon. Happy Mother's day also for any of you mothers out there!!

Just having a brain fart kind of day. After posting, I realized I was over analyzing and thinking too much and went back to cleaning the undercoat off. I apologize for asking such a silly question. Thank you tho for the information, hehe. Maybe l just need a drink!

Having an issue with the front suspension. I can't seem to get the darn brake/wheel assembly to let go of the front shocks. Tried soaking with pb blaster, tried heating the outer metal of the wheel housing, using a block of wood and going at it with a hammer, but doesn't want to release. I tried taking the entire assembly off and tried a few goofy ideas, but currently I put them back in the frame and they are soaking again some more. Both driver and passenger sides are holding on pretty tight. Anyone have any other ideas I can try?
  12. Good Job! Have any pics or issues that arouse while doing it?
  13. Removed the Engine and Transmission, was a lot easier than I thought.
  14. Finally got the exhaust dropped from a rusted out manifold ...

I have been putting it off to formally introduce myself, but finally had proper time to do it. I got my hands back on the first vehicle I ever purchased on my own over 15 years ago. Back in 1995, just out of high school, on my own I purchased the neighbors silver 1978 280z from him. He was tired of troubleshooting his stalling out issues. 1 week later with the help from my Uncle, we got it running good. All it took was a new fuel pump and a new fuel tank. The PO had his brother clean and coat the tank, the inside coating was chunking off and was clogging the filters and fuel pump. I loved this car, was fun driving from New Orleans to Mississippi over the weekends. Perfect dash, running smooth, AC blew cold, interior immaculate. Then being young and dumb, I wanted a bigger car. I gave the 280z to my father in florida, who always wanted a 2 door coupe. A year later he had a friend who painted the car red as a suprise gift. It wasn't too bad. My father ran the car from Jacksonville to New Orleans twice a year with no issues. Then my father got sick with cancer and the car sat outside in the open country field. After passing away in 2002, my family moved to Houston, leaving the car in Florida to bake and sit for 5 years. My brother had the car shipped to Houston so he could attempt to make a project car out of it with a turbo motor from a 240sx. He never got around to it, always have "other" things to do, so the car sat again for another 3 years. Finally, he decided to get the 280Z running, he chopped and rigged everything, but never got it to run for more than 15mins. He decided to either sell it or give it away to me. I jumped on it in January 2011 and brought it back to New Orleans. The first thing I did was open the glove box and just ruffled through some paperwork and what I found put a tear in my eye. The original paperwork I filed when I first bought the car was there, and when my father changed the paperwork to him in Florida, and the paperwork in my mothers name, now it will be back in mine. My father's handwritten note to himself saying how much he loved the car on an envelope and who he received the car from. The condition from when I gave it away to now is light and day, so much to do, it will take about 2 years, but I am going to enjoy every bit of putting the 280z back together the way I want it. Just happy I have a girlfriend who understands why I want to do it (as long as her honey do list gets done in the process). My apologies for being long winded.
  18. Began digging into the engine compartment, tagging, bagging, and labeling as I went along. Also figuring out how to undo my brothers ghetto wiring job on his attempt to fix the car.

Thanks guys, yeah gonna go scrubbing this weekend and see if I can get both sides prepped and sealed. Will check out the local nissan dealership for a passenger fender at least.

I began tearing down my Z and decided to remove the front fenders. I noticed that underside of both fenders the undercoating was peeling and under the undercoating rust was all beneath it. The passenger side was a little worse being that rust was on the outside also. I think I can save the driver side after I clean the undercoat off and apply some rust bullet or por and recoat it. Not so sure of the Passenger side. Overall I thought the amount of rust wasn't too bad under the fenders. What would you guys recommend?
  21. Removed the front fenders and knocked off undercoating and found rust to clean.
