  1. Mr Camouflage, I have not seen this info myself but I will keep an eye on this when I am out looking for info. Any one out there got good information on RH drive 240Z HS30-, read through the thread. cheers Steve
  2. I just wish to add some more to what Joseph has stated. A metal compliance plate affixed with the approval of the Australian Motor Vehicle Certification board contained information codes for identification of compliance to current Australian Design Rules. Some of these rules date back to Jan 70 ( Hyd Brakes). ADR plates where affixed with approval of the board by the manufacturers and importers in the honeymoon periods prior to mandatory compliance for each state. This has been standard practice for the vehicle industry here. This practice has been recorded on HS30 as early as 12/70 to my knowledge. I have seen earlier on other Datsun models. Loss of an ADR compliance plate for older vehicles will not prevent vehicle registration. Cheers Steve
  3. Hey Gav, I think your being a bit harsh on the poor 240Z sent to AUS with the 'not very original and not very good condition', when you consider the number of 240Z's sent to Australia, 1% (thanks Carl), I would have to lean the other way say the average condition is better than average for a 240Z. I watch ebay motors .com, as well Aus 240Z quality in the market place is good. my 2c Steve:)

This is one amazing thread. Seeing the last imput by HS30H, seems like a very plausable production run. Given this could be a probable, my fasination is for the position of the next HS30-, HS30-00003 are there any thoughts. cheers Steve

I have to agree with Savannah Z, the tone on this site is what keeps me interested and active, although not as much as I would like. Good to see I am not the only one who lives on the search function, it is far more effective than some of the other sites. I have not had the pleasure of driving a HLS30 Z so I cannot apreciate the the E brake position, but with the world as it is I am sure I will get a chance one day. Cheers Steve:)

Kats, thank's you, for sharing this information. I too hope you can find a way to show us a representation of the detail if at all possible. As to production, it is really does throw a spot light on what vins went to the test program. thank's again Steve:)

Hi G-nose, good to here from you, welcome to the forum. That is one sweet looking Z. cheers Steve:)
  8. lucky find those kind of things these days can be hidden away out of sight and take forever to find. Best of luck with the injection I use a factory system it is almost bullet proof. cheers Steve:)

Hi all I have 5 c worth for you on those 6000 rpm fading ignitions. my experience caused me some heart-ache on the way to Melbourne I had the MITSU distributor, and it would break down in the 5500-6000 range. I was sourced the Hitachi ran better but not everything I expected. inspection and rebuild cured the Hitachi, I stored the MITSU after its rebuild had no call to re install it. major problem with both seemed to be a sticking plate and a little shaft end play. Also interested in that story about the two men over sixty who built that engine all those years ago, I am sure I know them, I think they built my L6, it is still going strong. Can you do an inspection of the internals without doing the tare down, it may be good if the oil was sprayed in the right way. A priming of the oil system and a bore soak may save a lot of effort. You got to put it in the K they are just the best test beds. As for the repairer you mentioned I have only ever heard real good things about them, and when it came to the crunch people from Newcastle have been satisfied with them. cheers Steve:)
  10. sweet looking car, noticed two good offers got nocked back. Also has the good tan interior and factory belts in all positions, must have been optioned in. Autos always present in the best condition from what I have seen. cheers Steve:classic:
  11. I had a problem very similar. After a workshop changed out my slave cylinder complete, I drove home just great. parked in the garage nose first had to get reverseto get it out, no deal, all attempts failed could not engage reverse. Found the gasket to the flex line was sucking air with operation of the clutch sys required a full re-install and bleed to clear. cheers steve

A quick scan of OZDAT classifieds found what you are after just go to the site below. I have no idea where in Aus you are, but this engine is being sold out of Wollongong by the add. http://www.ozdat.com/classifieds/index.html complete running hoted up package. hope it is what you are after cheers Steve:classic:
  13. You will get it all done one day, and it will be worth it. I have been busy with projects and work got to Nnevada and Arizona though. My Tockicos are just about ready for replacemant now plus springs and fixed spring perches/seats. So this is topical thread for me at this time always watching for the good buy, arent we all. cheers Steve
  14. I think Mr Camouflage has probably identified the largest change for you this occurred AUG/73. Be aware that not all advertised strut inserts will just drop in and do the job, some will frustrate, some wont go at all, and some will go with engineering changes. Good Luck for info There are five different listed front tube combinations for 240Z and two different listed front tubes for 260z. There are four different listed rear tubes for 240Z and two different listed tubes for 260z. suppliers can mess it up real well so stick with good known product from genuine suppliers. cheers Steve

Hi Gav, good comment, got to agree on the N42 for a stock as a rock change over maintaing compression with the flat tops with minimal work. I am a very happy P90 supporter myself, In my case I bought my P90 head off the shelf, factory new in Sydney many years ago. Did a performance build on an L28 looking for those low 10 compression numbers, flows sweet N/A on injection (daily driver). cheers Steve:classic:
  16. Struts do change in production for S30 versions in the Australian market. If you are after constructive information. You need to go back to basics like what you are driving / age type maybe the vin to work out an application date. This will allow someone to look at the books or catalogues and supply you with workable feedback. Not telling you to suck eggs just trying to assist with information flow. cheers Steve

G72S20 has the idea 'Sport Classic at Castlereagh near Sydney are a good source for all Zed parts, Carlos....... will find what you need. Highly recommend P90 injected L28 (F54) sourced in Australian for 240Z 'Sport'. For N/A or boosted this is the best possible combination for L series within availability or price range. The other options in Australia are P90a or E88 (R30) version with injection shaped inlets Early E30 and E31 heads are getting super long in the tooth, not usually in good enough condition to consider. Good luck cheers Steve
  18. I would like to add to the information if I can. The L24E in the R30 was a well balanced package. The engineering, when introducing this engine gearbox combo into the earlier sump positions of the C K & Z are more than miniscule in today pseudo regulatory environment reads (revenue raising). Sump & Dipstick, Prop Shaft, Extension Housing,Tunnel Size, Gearbox Mounts, Oil Coolers. For the road car in Australia you just upgrade the ADR compliance to the engine build date, Compliance Engineering to 81-85 smog 27a. To meet compliance the full smog Nissan jetronic [analogue] injection system with all smog gear Includes pump installation, and fuel line for flow and pressure for correct injector fuel plumes. And this is to prove you meet the intent of the ADR, engineering will pass if the engineer is happy at this point and you can then register. A recommendation you will get good bang for your buck if you rebuild L26 squeeze it under the Head and induction system of the L24E still get the fuel economy and the squirt but loses lots of engineering overhead of an engine number and design change to keep your insurance. Also you can then dump most of the smog gear on the injection system and save more fuel. With the three speed auto from the R30 it is the last refinement of the type of box in Australian delivered sedan, I believe the Overdrive version was suspect to switching failures. I owned the manual version that gearbox was superb. my 2c Cheers Steve

G'day Rick, you got me im built like a front row forward thats why my poor Zed growns when I ask the question. Im the one that gets the fearfull message form the weight scale 'one at a time please'. No I lie I did play hooker but I was 80 Kilos when I bulked up for it. and I wear ear plugs when I make the Zed work so I cant here the protests,....... works a treat she goes like hell on wheels, ... and sticks like you know the rest. Seriously I have not seen a vin close to mine I did own HS30-102660 and HS30-102665 but have not seen any real close to either of them. probably that batch run theory the UK guys talk about. cheers steve:knockedou

Hi all, I have a factory RHD export 240z, HS30-102660, with L24-173261 05/73 build 5 Speed,R200, code 110 Red sport machine. 15 year love affair between us still going strong. Is anyone out there close to me in build. I have been very impressed with the uptake by all I just wish we could have put in our factory engine numbers from the build plates for reference. cheers Steve:)

Halz, Hi Hayden, have been busy lately scouring for vins and info around the place with some success, but allas nothing on the web yet. I will get there one day. Have got a whole lot more of the left hand steer stuff on seperate spread sheets now and is good for cross ref on engines details. cheers Steve:)

This thread does have value because it causes education to occur. For info HS30, HS30A, RS30 and RS30A are the codes supported by my third revision SEP 73 IPC. Only the HS30 and RS30 appear on the firewalls. The A is for automatic variant and highlights through the text. My 2 C Steve
  23. Mike, I have done the same thing for the information. As you can work out from the revision number and date. I have limited / initial RS 30 and no GRS 30 info. Datsun Parts Catalog model S30 series r-drive Sept 73. Third revision pub. No C-0010R export parts department Nissan Motor Co., ltd Tokyo, Japan Cheers Steve
  24. NZeder, I stopped looking after jul 73...... sorry. Interested to no what revision your catalogue is, if we have the same ......error on the part no. cheers Steve
  25. I thought I should add here that the wing mirrors mentioned earlier. 96301-E4100 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUT SIDE RH (BLACK) OP 96302-E4100 ASSY-BACK MIRROR OUT SIDE LH (BLACK) OP These are listed as optional for HS30 in the IPC (illustration 75) 96302-E8800 ASSY-BACK MIRROR DOOR OUTSIDE AUSTRALIA This mirror is listed for Australia for HS30 in the IPC (illustration 112) to meet the ADR I guess So does this mean people around the world who have HS30 Zeds with the door mirror have planned Australia delivery zeds or diverted shipment Zeds. My 2c cheers Steve
