cozye: no its not that same car its another car that I found that guy totally flaked out so... I was affraid that was the answer, but I can't do that. the rest of the car is in way to good of condition to let die like that. I'll post some pictures later today so everyone can take a closer look at the carnage. This may just be a good chance to have a tubular front subframe made for it. I also have some z friends seeing if they can find me a whole front end. I'll keep you posted.

So I just picked up a 78 and I bought it knowing that the frame had some problems. But upon closer inspection it is horrible both sides are like a magic trick they are just missing rotted thru both sides from the floor pans to the cross member. To the point that if you push on the drivers side wheel you can watch the whole frame move. I think it is past the point of putting bad dog rails in it. So asking for advice. Should I buy the front half of a can and get it welded in. Or do you think the frame rails would take care of it.

Just bought a 78 280z 5 speed car. How can I tell if it has an r200? or did they all?

oh and I feel kinda bad because I got it for 500 bucks

well guys here it is. I was about to give up and take a break from looking and last night I checked out south jersey on craigslist. And found this gem. Needs two fenders and some rust around the gas cap fixed. Also has the traditional fram rot. So not to bad but have some work drove it on the trailer so thats a plus but it has a dead cylinder the black smoke would lead me to beleive that it needs a standard tune up. Plugs, wires, cap and rotor. So wish me luck but I'm back in the game

I don't mind doing doors or fenders or hood or hatch or floor pans. Guess I should have put that out there really looking for straight roof, and quarters since they need cut and welded any piece that unbolts isn't a concern and floor pans I don't mind since they can't be seen. Just don't feel comfident enought to cut and blend panels.

Went to check out the Black Pearl car. It is a good car for some TLC but not the project for me. SO I guess this is a desperate plea. The Fiancee has only given me 2000 to buy the car but I'm not looking for show stopper just looking for a solid place to start. Just looking for something mostely straight and solid. I'm not a body guy so thats the important part to me. The mechanics I don't care about at all that I can do and handle. Motor isn't the biggest of deal would prefer one in it but not concerned with it running or needing overhauled same with tranny etc. Let me know if anyone has a project like this around they are willing to part with. The search continues.

That was my thoughts don't fight fate. So I last night I did some looking and talking with some fellow z freinds around the country found a Black Pearl for 1500 in good shape going to check it out tomorrow after noon so we will see what happens. Wish me luck. So guys/gals I just need to vent. I've been on the seach for a car for about two months now. Last week I went to look at a car that was on Craigslist. It was in pretty rough shape but it was a series on car and I talked the guy down to 700 bucks for it so I was happy we shook on it and I was to go back and pick it up this weekend. Had the trailer rented and have been buying parts all week to get to work on it when it got here. The car was sitting on 4 flats and the guy was to have his buddy who runs a local garage come take the wheels off of it and put some tires on it. Told me it wouldn't cost much since it was his buddy. He called me thursday and said it was going to be $400 which doesn't seem like to great of a price for 15 inch tires especially if you buddy is supossed to be helping you out, but I went with it cause I was excited to get to work. So tonight I sitting watching the hockey game excited for tomorrow when the guy text me and says hey I still can't find the keys and my buddy never got the tires done so... we need to push it off. Now first off I was supossed to bring it home last weekend but he couldn't find the title or the key so I've already waited a week. And this is the last weekend I have free for about a month to go get it. So i text him back and ask him if he can get me the tire size so I can get with a shop in his area and just take the wheels myself. Or can I just take the wheels off and take them to his buddy and have him put them on. He returns with I still have plenty of interest in the car so I think I'll just have to pass on the sale. So let me tell you I'm livid. Nothing like having this great excitment for a week and searching and buying parts just to have nothing to do with them. So needless to say I'm on the search again. IF ANYONE knows of any good fixer uppers let me know. Please.

New arms look great who's are they?

After searching a searching for the right project. I found a 10/70 240z. Car is in rough shape needs a windsheild, and floorpans to be mostley whole. Ran two years ago when parked so I'm hoping I can get it running without much effort. Has four bolt carbs, vents in the hatch, and the 240z emblems on the b pillar so that makes it a series 1 right? Going to pic it up next weekend so pics will follow. The car does have strange bumpers that I haven't seen before look like standard bumpers but have extra rails on them that kinda protect the hood and tail lights never seen them before wondering if anyone knows if they were a factory option or aftermaket?
