Designed by a hot chick, increases the cool factor by like a bazillion http://jalopnik.com/235866/jalopnik-question-of-the-day-is-gm-designer-vicki-vlachakis-hotter-than-the-pontiac-solstice
  2. The device you are referring to is called the "Fast Idle Control Device" and yes it increases engine speed while the AC is engaged. Since its not a high demand part I would call on the phone these two places, I bet you find one. Z specialties has been able to get any part I needed even when they weren't listed. http://www.zspecialties.com/ http://www.zcarsource.com

    Welcome, everyone here likes pictures
  4. I just cut the air tubes out and welded the holes shut. After grinding down the welds and repainting with exhaust paint the thing looks like a new stock part

Did you pull the car out of a lake? The trailer shot looks like its covered with algae or something. otherwise it looks like a pretty complete car, congrats
  6. I recently spoke to a suspension guy at www.suspension.com in person. He recommends lubing the new parts with never-seez
  7. Pretty much anything you can mount up will work. You might find an aluminum one off of a newer car at a junk yard or just buy a generic one online. Im not sure how much more efficient a new one would be but you have the opportunity to get one of a larger size. Changes to the capacity of your condenser will alter the amount of refrigerant you need to insert later, you will have to add based on how much pressure is created instead of just a set amount. heres the first place online i found that have generic condensers: http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/ac/painted-black-aluminum-109.php
  8. They look identical inside and out. When the first handle broke i bought a used OEM handle on eBay that appeared in perfect condition and it broke in exactly the same place just a few weeks later. Even side by side you would be hard pressed to find a difference between the BD and OEM handle.
  9. I purchased new handles from black dragon that came with new rubber. The whole handle was like 25 bucks
  10. Is this the disk thing your talking about? I put the yellow arrow over it
  11. I have seen these things marketed under different brands including ebay making the same claims. The gist of it is they add a simple electronic part (usually its a resistor) to your air intake sensor (usually mass air) and it modifies the information from that sensor by a static amount, causing your computer to change the air fuel ratio. FastWoman, as an electrical engineer and automotive computer master you know that most electronic sensors output resistance readings and adding an inline resistor (or IC that has resistance) would create a static increase in whatever that sensor puts out. Then they package this magic part into a fancy package and sell it with ridiculous claims. In theory it should make a change to how the car runs and i would bet that under very specific conditions it actually does increase power, but the reality is its probably causing a reduction in power under most conditions and breaking things in general. Absolute junk product in case that wasnt clear enough By the way the ads are provided automagically and i suspect they are using the google adsense system so if you sign out of google your ads will probably change.

I was reminded of this company that makes replacement panels. Not sure how much of a purist you are, this could be sacrilegious: http://www.frpautomotive.com/frp_panels_page.html
  13. By clock you mean sound of silence from the broken clock. or maybe you can make the ticking happen out of rhythm
  14. Sounds awesome, my car is in no condition to contribute My favorite sound is the sound the shocks make when opening the rear hatch

as long as you get a full cover and not a half i think they look pretty good. I have run into them in the wrecking yard after years of abuse and they look factory until you get up close to it. here is a pic of mine. i literally just tossed it on there because i needed to store it someplace and i figured the dash was a good spot. its not glued in and i made no attempt to make it fit nicely: https://sites.google.com/a/thecomputerrehab.com/260z/Interior/dash-cover
  16. Black gold man you of all people could probably lend some information on this rumor: "Datsun/Nissan originally designed the Z for a Ford 289/302. Carroll Shelby got wind of the idea and made some threats to Ford, Ford then backed out of the plan and Datsun installed one of their own motors." Its circulating around the internet and i have heard it from a few different car guys that have been around a lot longer than i. If its true this picture of the rear window adds more to the idea that Datsun borrowed a lot of other car company ideas to develop their new sports cars beyond the obvious jaguar look. They the Kia of the era.
  17. Its like a fastback but its not really. The rear hatch is way too flat (if it even opens). The integrated rear wing looks goofy . That rear side window looks the same shape as the Z cars. Was this a concept? And is that a Thunderbird logo on its stand?

the dye colors the refrigerant so when it leaks out you can see it with the UV light. so yes you are looking for a leaking gas, not an oil
  19. Kurbycar32 replied to FastWoman's post in a topic in Help Me !!
Tip: the refrigerant is actually more heavy than air so you will find the dye under the leak, not over. make sure to check inside the dash too, you could be leaking at the evaporator
  20. When i stripped mine down i used aircraft remover, but then i hit it with a sandblaster. My sandblaster was like 18 bucks at harbor freight, and my "booth" was a big plastic bin with a towel thrown over the top. I used it on a bunch of parts so its been worth the investment

A few trips around the block might actually be too much. The dye works pretty quickly so as long as the compressor is engaged you should be looking for the leak.
  22. They do want to increase ethanol content to UP TO 15%. I see what they are doing and for people that buy new cars every 4 years its fine, us holders of classic cars are the ones getting screwed. Current standards are UP TO 10% but they set that high on purpose so they wouldn't have to relabel a billion gas pumps every year. Currently actual ethanol content is around 6%, I'm pretty sure that was in popular mechanics.

Fastwoman if i had 4lb of r-12 around i would tear the system down and find that leak, then fix it permanently. If its fixed correctly that R12 could last another 10 years vs 2 years of refilling a leaky system.
  24. Im pretty sure i have the same seals you do but i havent installed the interior plastics. Can you post a pic?
