Hey All Wonder if Mike at Banzai is reading this message board discussion and the cogs are turning over. Maybe if enough people line up for them it may be an option for a remake by Mike. Wonder what Nissan did for the rebuild program several years ago?
  2. 2 seater numbers same as 2+2 numbers into Australia; dont think so! 1st Generation Z Car Production http://www.cybersanford.net/DATSUNZCARS.html Regards Joseph Gauci

There is a pair on ebay now. Joseph
  4. The diamond pattern vinyl is different between the 240z and the 260z (early) model. 240z has a larger diamond shape. Joseph
  5. Hey Lee Thanks for the clarification. Just re-read your initial post and realised that you describe the car with the z logo on the belt buckles as a 70 you use to own. Please let us know what you are able to find out re your friends cars. Do your belts secure with the aid of a magnet? I have two sets and both secure with the aid of a magnet on the latch. Maybe there are two styles of belts out there? Again, offer to swap belts is still out there! Regards Joseph
  6. Reading back through Lee's initial post I realise that the car he had the Z typr buckles in was an early one. Everyone I know (and all posters so far) have cars dated 72 onwards. It would be interesting to know if someone out there in Australia has a car dated 70 or 71 and it has the Kagnol belts fitted or ones with a Z on the buckle. Mine is a 71 but the belts have been replaced with newer type non-inertia reel ones. If anyone out there does have a set with the z on the buckle and wants to trade them for mine which are in great condition please let me know. Regards Joseph
  7. Hey Lee No problems, glad to help out. 26th, I think you have hit the nail on the head! The ones seen in my photo are push button type. Man, you should see the Kagnol ones they put in to replace the original factory ones. The belt fastens using a magnet! How is this safer than the ones Nissan put in?? Regards Joseph

Hey Kats Yes, the braided fuel line is available from Rare Spares here in Australia. Price for 7.5mm ID x 12.5mm OD is AUS$12.45 / metre including GST. It would look nice in the engine bay even though it is a little dark, but only if you had a full compliment of braided type hoses (as you do, including the radiator hoses). Ill just go for the plain rubber as I dont have the braided radiator hoses; might get a little busy looking having 3 types of hoses in the engine bay rather than 2! Kats, exceptional website BTW!! Regards Joseph
  9. This is a picture of the belts that I have installed in my Datsun 1000.
  10. Lee Your comments regarding original specification seatbelts for the Australian market 240z are very interesting. I did a fair bit of digging around when I first got my car in regards to the seatbelts and what was original and what was correct and was advised that the original seatbelts as supplied in the car from the factory were removed from the car when it landed in Australia prior to being sent to the dealership and replaced. It is my belief that the Australian authorities at the time deemed them unsafe as they required to many movements to secure and take off. They were replaced with belts made by a company in South Australia, Kagnol. It would be interesting to know if your belts were made in Japan or made in Australia. I have a set of non-retractable belts in my 69 Datsun 1000 that have nice Datsun logos on the buckles. Closer inspection of the manufacturers tag revelas that they were made in Australia. I have two sets of the original replacement Kagnol ones and know of a few other people that have them installed in their cars and are of the belief that they are "original" specification. Maybe your old car slipped through the cracks? Regards Joseph

Hey Kats Something you may be interested in. I have recently come across cloth braided fuel line hose here in Australia. Although a little darker than the other braided engine bay hoses, it looks pretty good. Will upload photos for you to see. Regards Joseph

Hey Andrew As Kats mentioned above, the main problem is finding the correct hose clamps for the fuel lines as they are different construction/look than the standard clamps. I have been hunting around yards for some time now and believe that the special fuel line clamps were confined to cars built around the 240z period. I have one only on my 69 1000 which I will use on the 240z. I have seen 120y's etc built around mid 70's with the standard clamps installed on the fuel lines and they are of different construction. FWIW, out of interest I priced the fuel line clamps from my local Nissan a few months back. They wanted AUS$17 a piece for them (ex. GST)! Regards Joseph

Hey Kats Hope you didnt take my comments the wrong way regarding the chipping of the bracket. It was made more tongue-in-cheek as I know how immaculate your car is and obviously what a perfectonist you are. I like the sticker you have on your radiator; where did you get that from? Saw your other post re Kioto globes; thats amazing you can get them new. Regards Joseph

Hey Kats I cant believe it, I have found a flaw on your car! I can see that the bracket that is holding the brake master vac hoses has a chip in the paint! Seriously, your assessment of the different types of hose clamps used only on the fuel lines of the 240z agrees with my assessment and clears something up that I have had floating around in my head for a while now. These different style of clamps are very difficult to find at wrecking yards, but I have managed to come across a few in early 70's vintage Datsuns. Kats, do you have wrecking yards in Japan? You may want to try the boots of other Datsun models at the yards, I have found many an original style hose clamp that was in unmarked original condition, complete with flawless plating. Regards Joseph

Hey Mike Just had mine replaced with an aftermarket one (wasnt the original that I was replacing). The glass guy had some difficulties installing it and tried a few different methods and finally got it in. He looped the cord at four places, one on each side/edge of the glass and edged it in a bit at a time from each point rather than going from one place and forcing it in. He was an old timer and knew what he was doing. Said he use to use the method on numerous old cars with curved glass. Regards Joseph

Hey All In my eternal attempt for originality I am currently going over the engine bay wiring in my 09/71 240z. I have come across what I believe is a non-original relay (Bosch brand), but it seems to be wired in with original factory wiring (4 wires, shrink wrapped, factory style plugs). It is located just ahead of the windshield washer bottle (keep in mind Im in the RHD part of the world), about midway down the inner fender. It is held in place with a single, large head, self-tapping screw. The wiring seems factory and comes out of the harness. I suspect that the starter motor is wired to it. My queries are: 1. Is this a relay and is it suppose to be there. 2. What does it do (which system is it for). 3. If it is suppose to be there, anybody able to let me know what the original unit should look like (description, pictures etc). Thanks for any replies and information. Regards Joseph

  23. OK, L pieces for the window seal trim are available new from Nissan. Try Warren @ All Z Parts for the rear window seal (new, good price), rear hatch badges (new, about 1/2 what Nissan charge, and they are genuine!), front and rear strut braces (new), fuel pump (new, genuine Nissan). If you buy all of this stuff from him I am sure he will help you out with the little used odds and ends that you need. Hope this helps you out. Rgs Joseph
