Do you have a copy of Wick Humbles book "How to Restore Your Datsun Z Car"? There is a schematic line diagram of the various wiring arrangements in there which shows fog lamps up the front. He also talks about the factory installed switch for the fog lamps in the text. He mentions that with his car he moved the hazard switch to the upper cutout to accomodate the hazard warning switch. I dont believe there is a pic though. Also not sure why he had to do this? Have you tried Charlie Osbourne at Zed Findings in Canada. He is pretty good with this kind of stuff and may have one in stock. Check his website @ www.datsunzparts.com May even be worth trying Eric at Z Parts @ www.zparts.com Hope they can help you more than I can.

I have checked through carfiche online and cannot find a part number reference to the fog lights or the switch. Maybe you will have better luck than me. Check www.carfiche.com
  3. You have to guide the screwdriver or what ever you are using past the rocker cover and onto the hood catch. You have to think about how the catch works to be successful. Go for the half that is mounted to the bonnet and you have to press the screwdriver or what ever onto the lever of the catch. You could also try the half that is mounted to the car and try to slide the catch to the right (as from under the car with your feet up front). This may free it up. If you cant get it you may have to take it to a workshop, they will do it in 5 min, but charge you $$ for doing it. If you need anything else email me off the board and Ill try and help.
  4. You shouldnt have to remove the bonnet. I have seen this done with an extremely long screwdriver. Replace the cable, they are available from Nissan new, I purchased one two years ago for my car. Before installing it lube it up real good. Pour some oil into it and actuate the lever back and forth until the oil comes out the other end. Keep an eye on it and do this every year or so.

Hey There is a true 69 car on ebay.com at the moment that I believe once had the factory fog lights installed. One of the pics of the dash shows a small hole that has been neatly drilled in the cut-out above the hazard warning switch. It is very neatly done, hence I believe that it was done by the factory, and done to install the operational switch for the factory fog lights. FWIW I live in Australia and have seen two 240z's here that have had the factory fog lights installed. They were both very low VIN#'s, and believed to be early 70 cars.

Hey The triangle thingy or dovetail can be purchased new from Nissan. Look up the part number at www.carfiche.com and contact your nearest Nissan dealership.

Hi all. Im fairly new to the list. I have a 9/71 RHD Aussie Spec 240z. It has no compliance plate which disagrees with the Feb 71 cut off for plate installation. As far as Im aware there are NO 69 240z cars produced. I know the owner of RHD 004 and he is of the opinion that it is a 70 model. I guess that the sheel may have been made in 69, but by the time the engine went in and the car was ready for shipping it was a 70 model year. FWIW mine is 1282 and has been narrowed down to Sep 71 due to the lack of compliance plate, comparison of engine numbers with LHD cars, E88 head standard (as introduced in Sep 71). It has a hand throttle, these never made it to the 72 year. Also FWIW the hand throttle is very rare in the USA, only the very early cars had them. I have been told on good authority that they were available for sale over the Nissan parts counter. I hope this clears a few things up. If the seller of that advertised "69' 240z in Melbourne does in fact have something from Nissan to say it is a 69, the s### is really going to hit the fan. Please let us know if this turns out to be the case. Regarding the non-original L26 in this car, this would definately put the car at below $10k IMO, even if it is in good condition. Having a non-original donk is a worry as far as collector car status goes. I searched for about 5 years to find my car with the original L24 in it.
