Fuel Filler Door Lock Detail for Series II 71 240z; Picture Request
Well, for those interested I may have answered my own question. I was just sorting out some saved pictures and came across the one as attached. I have it labelled gas door lock, Im pretty sure I borrowed it from an ebay auction some time. The one I have which the key actuates looks exactly like this one. Is it correct? Can someone confirm this pic rather than going to the trouble of taking a pic of theirs? Im still interested to see the lock clip detail though. Joseph

You could try it in the first instance but I wouldnt go forcing it if the plug is too tight, you may damage your socket drive. Best bet is the breaker bar. Try impact blows with a lump hammer to loosen it. Joseph

Fuel Filler Door Lock Detail for Series II 71 240z; Picture Request
Hello Im trying to solve a puzzle I have at the moment with the lock on my fuel filler door. Car is a series II 09/71 240z and would have had the key style lock as original. The current lock that is installed on the fuel filler door uses a separate key to that of the remainder of the locks...I know this is not correct. I bought the car like this. I went through a box of parts I got with the car when I bought it and found a lock cylinder which can be actuated with the original key which operates the remainder of the locks. However, at this stage, something doesnt seem right with it. Id like to know if someone is able to post a pic showing the rear of their fuel filler door lock on their 71 240z. Im interested to see the clip which retains the lock and also the part that moves around to lock the door when the key is moved from the other side. Im having troubles finding a good reference pic as it isnt really an exciting area of the z to photograph! Any help is appreciated, as always. Regards Joseph Gauci

changing differential oil
I filled mine by removing the spare tyre from the well and removing the grommet that is in the front part of the well, when viewed standing at the rear of the car. I got a piece of clear plastic tube, largest diameter that will fit into the fill hole and placed it through the hole in the bottom of the well and routed it into the fill hole in the diff. Less than a metre of line was used. Have someone pour the oil in through the top of the tube and you get under and watch for it to fill. It will run out when full. Replace plug and drive. Im sure someone has filled their diff like this before. Hope this helps out. Regards Joseph

1974 240z
Its not the VIN plate; the VIN plate wont have a date on it.

1974 240z
This is the compliance plate, fitted by Australian authorities when the car was imported/sold in Australia. It is not the manufacture date of the car. I assume that the car would have been bought into Australia late in 73. It is not a 74 240z. Joseph

Beeper Switch? from Kats's thread.
It would be interesting if someone could post a copy of the RHD version wiring diagram. The buzzer with associated wiring is clearly shown on the LHD version wiring diagram. Is anyone able to do this? Thanks Joseph

Fix for Slow Wipers
Hello Carl Are you able to figure this one out. When I put my wipers on they work for the full, correct arc for about the first half dozen strokes, then the drivers side seems to do a longer arc, so long it flips out past the windshield rubber. Turn them off, they return to park. Turn them on and the same thing happens, ie work correctly for about 6 strokes then the drivers side runs long in its arc. Any ideas? It bugs the hell out of me. Thanks JOseph

The bloke must be dreaming
FWIW This car was garaged in Melbourne for the 18 years. It was for sale late last year for about $10k. I looked into buying it. I assume that the guy now selling it in SA bought it from the seller in Melbourne. He hasnt done anything to it, maybe the alarm. Joseph

I see you have the wiring harness vinyl cover in place. Is there any chance of removing this and showing us what it looks like? Im wanting to make a reproduction, if possible.

Re-assembling my '71 Z questions
You'd be surprised what your local Nissan dealership can provide you, if you know the part number. They dont seem to like looking up part numbers for nuts, bolts washers etc. If you have a part number, there seems to be no problems. Ive even had Nissan Australia get me replacement bolts from Japan. Joseph

Re-assembling my '71 Z questions
300 point concourse guys reading this; beware if you are thinking of replacing all of your old bolts with new, genuine Nissan ones. Many of the bolts I am getting from Nissan here in Australia no longer have the bolt grade stamped into the head, ie 4, 7, 9. Joseph

240Z on ebay.au in Melbourne
You think $12k is pricey for this one. It was first advertised about a month ago on another classifieds website for $22k! It was for sale late last year in Melbourne, owner was asking about $10k for it then. I got some pics at the time. From the sellers description it hasnt had anything done to it in this time. Joseph

240Z on ebay.au in Melbourne
The 2+2 in this auction has been listed in the Trading Post and on other for sale classifieds websites for several months now. Asking price there was $14k, assumed with the plates. Where is the antenna? Take a look at the hole, it has either been patched with primered metal or had duct tape put over it. Joseph

Hey V12 Yes, I have seen probably close to a dozen RHD 240z's here in Australia which came equiped with the Japanese domestic market bullet type fender mirrors as original/standard fitment. When it came to mirrors, we got a mixed lot here. Regards Joseph
