1970 Datsun 240Z HLS30-08323 08/70
I forgot to upload these pics of the 240Z from last summer. This series of photos was taken after the initial cleaning. This is the original spare tire.

No turn over......
You may want to check the battery fusible links and while you're at it replace them and sand the contacts and then replace the fusible link covers for good measure. The battery fusible links are on the passenger side of the engine bay on the inner fender well in front of the battery and usually they are covered by white plastic covers. You can still buy the fusible links and covers for less than $10 from your local Nissan dealer. It might be helpful to know if your car had been sitting for an extended period of time an what work had been done to it previously.

Wats on EBay
I am not sure about the price comments as I have witnessed what '240ztt' had to spend to get a new set of Watanabe Type R's in a similar size and offset. I remember that the price he had to pay which did include the center caps and lug nuts was north of $2300 USD and then he had to purchase tires. For someone on the East Coast this deal might make sense because if these Watanabe Type R's are in the U.S. they are usually sitting on the West Coast or have to be ordered from Japan. These are being sold by Eiji who is also the owner of : http://www.datsunspirit.com I can at least vouch for the claims of sunny day driving and garage kept as stated in the ad. Besides they are being sold to fund the resurrection of another Datsun Z which should be reason enough?

Original Window Sticker
Awesome piece of history. It would be great to get reproductions of these. I used to own HLS30-299394 and HLS30-305523 which were also '76 280Z's.

Offset help
Arne, This look is what some would would refer to as the 'stretch' look and while it may be popular in Japan and to a smaller degree the U.S. I presonally don't care for it. I think Joe would have been better off with a 255/40/16 or 265/40/16 but these sizes are so oddball that his next choice should have been an 8.5" or 8" wide wheel. In any event here is how I prefer my wheel and tire to look: The rears are 16x8 and tire size is p245/45/16 and the fronts are 16x7 with a p225/50/16. The ride and grip is very good with this setup and these wheels and tires were actually mounted on 240ztt's car for a day and the pics look good. I'll have to find them and post them when I get a chance.

Offset help
Here is a pic of 240ztt's car with 16" Watanabe's: I think this would be about as far as you would want to go with a set of 16" wheels. Keep in mind that he had to install coil overs to get this effect.
