Well maybe there is a saving grace! I found this out just now... The proposed replacement technology--is it >R134 or R143 or somesuch--is going to be phased out in a few years >with no prospects of a "drop-in" there either. There WERE quite a few viable DROP-IN or "near" drop-in alternatives developed for automotive A/C.. The auto industry and MACS managed to get them all banned or boycotted onto the shelf. Only the auto industry "requested" R-134a is allowed or marketed now. So it looks as though there is a difference between the R134 and the R134A. Here is the link to the site... http://yarchive.net/ac/oils.html Thus the cost difference as noted in the MSA book.

It looks pretty much like the same kit! They mention some of the parts that aren't showing. It really looks identical to me! See now I have to go and lower my reserve And the Z love hate relationship continues.... Freakin Foreign Tin Can! Doh did I say that a loud! Zsled

Hey Now! I know I posted that I was taking a $54,000 pay cut to get some fun out of life. The reserve is set high for now and I will watch the auction to see if I need to lower it. The reserve is currently set to $750.00. I don't mind if I needed to meet someone close to me or in the DFW metroplex as that is where I currently work to drop off instead of shipping. I actually got beat up by MSA on this deal and wouln't recommend them to anyone. When I ordered the unit, they told me it would take 2 weeks to process and drop ship the item. 4 weeks later no package so I called and talked to a young rep. He said that the item was back ordered at the vendor site and would be available in 2 weeks. Well all and all it took 2 1/2 months to get the unit in and MSA charged my card an for an increase in the unit price and shipping. I was charged $779.99 for the system and then charged another $49.00 for the increase in the unit price from the vendor and on top of that charged an another $25.00 for shipping fees. I was very disappointed and contacted MSA. They told me when I received the box to just contact them and they would issue me a RMA# and it would take 2 weeks to refund my money on the card. Just an bad exp. all around. Zsled

Is there an amp. difference in alt. between a 1972 240 and a 1975 280. If yes, then what. Would I need to follow the conversion guides out there like they have for the 280zx models?

I purchased two new gaskets for my 240 rear diff. I thought this would be a no brainer. I also purchased an air tool set up and a new compressor. I figured It was time to get serious with my Z. I put it up on JAck stands and started to look around. It looks as though I have to drop the front cross member for the rear diff and also the two cross bars that connect it to the body. With this done the rear I-bean fall down for the rear tires and the diff starts to fall. Am I doing this all wrong. I really need to replace the seal and clean this unit up.

Hey all been a while since I have posted, but I just purchased a new A/C system from MSA for my 1972 240. I was wondering if anyone had any exp. with these systems from MSA? I was looking to see if the systems are reliable and easy to install. THe system was $779.00 USD for the entire system from pulley belt to switch on the interior.

Any one running 18 x7.5" wheels on their Z's I am thinking about upgrading my lateset Wheel purchase and wanted to know if this size will work on the Z. Available finishes: Silver Bolt Pattern: 4x100, 4x114.3
  17. If you check the 111 I think they are only 7" wide. From 14-17" wheels they look like they are all 7" wide. I bought the 160 and I haven't seen them yet. I can tell you that the link I listed to the 2bones sight has 3 cars with these pardyme wheels on them. They all look stellar.

I would agree with ZMEFLY about the seals. As far as a good system, I have seen both of the MSA systems. They sell two types... 1st being he 3-2 combo the 2nd being the 6 into 1. I saw both types of these headers on Z's before I purchased one. With that said, the best looking with the most ground clearence is the 6 into 1 in my opinion. I installed a 6 into 1 header and a 8 inch long glasspacked muffler about 6 inches back from the header. I flowed the system with 2.25 inch pipe to the rear of the car and finished it off with a Glasspacked twin tipped setup also sold by MSA. This setup gets rid of the drone associated with the headers and it sounds like the old Aston Martin's or ferrari's. I too querried this board prior to installing this setup and I have to say it was well worth my time. The setup is great and I really did notice a difference in my performance.

Let me rephrase the question. My 240z has SU's Round tops it is a 72' I have a line on some of the carbs listed above and want to know if they will flow the same or better than the su's since they were on a L26 260 74'.
  20. Zsled posted a post in a topic in Carburetor Central
Ok, I am eyeing a set of these carbs, they came off of a L26, and they are on a cannon intake. My question is, Will they work good on l24 pretty much stock and will they be ok when this l24 is warmed over really soon? Need advice fast.
