i am bringing this z back to life and i finally got my engine back together after getting the headwork done, this motor hasent been started for 3-5 years, anyways i got it to run somewhat but it keeps misifiring and backfiring thru the carbs after a couple seconds of running then will eventually die, i took off the smog pump and plugged everything off i dunno if that has anything to do with it but i think its my timing off? any help would be appreciated, thanks

first off i bought the 240 that had been sitting for 2 years off some drug addict about 6 months ago for 1k which is a really good deal, the body and interior is really good for a 71, it had a "blown head gasket" supposedly as the owner told me when i bought the car not knowing, it turned out to have a cracked head so i got the head welded, shaved down, new valve guides etc........ so now i have finally gotten everything back together still not knowing if the tranny is good or what since ive never even seen the car start. after going thru junkyards and finally putting the motor back together and getting everything done on my to do list today we had to hotwire my car and use a remote starter to start it because i found out my ignition is dead and doesent turn the car over, anyways i had trouble getting the firing order and timing right but got it to fire and sounds like i have some bad vaccum leaks and it seemed one carb was sucking and the other one wasent nearly as much, seemed to be misfiring and sounded like a open header tractor........ one brake light doesent work, turn signals dont work, just when i think im gonna be driving i opened a whole other can of worms, as much as a pain this process has been im still having fun, im just gonna have to start re wiring the car for now....

i have a nice electric fan installed on my 240 and was wondering if the stock 240 alternator is gonna crap out on me after a couple weeks.......thanks

ive seen some 510's with CF hoods and lips but never seen a 240 with anything like that...

i hooked up my exhuast yesterday without the muffler, its 2 1/4 inch piping all the way back, no smog stuff, i hacksawed off my other muffler cause my apexi N1 is gonna be welded on by my friend, im just wondering if its gonna be too loud for the week or two till i get my muffler on, has anybody ran there 240 like this?

whats wrong with building a honda............... i considered building a hatchback with a motor swap befor i got my 240, i dont understand why people hate on other types of cars when time and effort has still gone into them, i just hate ricers weather they drive a mustang or a honda.......

i got some nice turbo II rx7 seats in my z, just wondering what other people have done and yes that ghetto weather stripping was taken out, that was done by the previous owner.......

im running a wet shot so fuel shouldent be a problem, but ignition would be a good mod

ive just rebuilt a e31 head and had it shaved, ive allready got a exhuast and k&n's, the stock exhuast manifold looks like it flows pretty good so i dont know if a header if worth getting, oh yea i forgot im running a 60 ish shot of n2o....

ive met some people off some other z message boards that are from the bay area, anyways just wondering
