Single wire alternator
This is a G.M. style single wire alternator. (Internally regulated) It is either a 100 amp or a 120 amp, I can't remember. I had to fabricate custom brackets for it. If I hadn't had the engine on a stand I would have never been able to fit this thing correctly.

Driving/Fog light switches.
I gather that there was some use for the blank switch plate that was here before, but I used it as a location for my driving and fog lamp switches. I had to buy the smallest rocker switches I could find and trim them down somewhat to fit them into this space. But they look factory don't you think?

Ash Tray replacement
The ash tray/fuse box cover was missing when I bought the car, and replacement units were out of my budget. Instead I made this removable plate and put a voltmeter in it. This should prove useful since I have partially by-passed the amp-meter. The cigarette lighter is only intended to power "accessories" wink wink

Rear wing
This wing is a little different. Not authentic by any means, it is from a BMW 325es. I like the way that it sits on the rear hatch, and I didn't want anything really huge back here either.

Electric fans
I used two fans on the radiator, one 12 inch, and one 10 inch. Two 12 inch fans wouldn't fit. Some places sell a single 14 inch fan, but two fans will draw more air, and cool a larger percentage of the radiator. A 14" fan cools 47% of the radiator, and 59% of the vertical tubes, while this setup cools 58% of the area and 93% of the vertical tubes.

Front end assembled
This is what it looked like when I finally assembled all of the front end parts that I accumulated over the years of searching. It finally looks like a 240Z from the front.

New Fenders
Who would believe that you could buy brand new fenders for a 35 year old car, from the DEALER? To think that I wasted an entire summer trying to patch up a pair of fenders with bondo and fiberglass...

Series B Transmission?
This is the transmission that came with the car. It is clearly from a much newer vehicle because you can see the neutral switch wires, which are not used on a 1971. The P.O. cut the floor opening to make this work. The inner shift boot doesn't seal as a result.

I bought a full set (4) of these on E-Bay in January of 2004. It took me nearly a full year to get them clean.

Gas Tank, coated
I had the gas tank coated with a plastic sealing compound at a local radiator shop. When they pulled it out of the cleaning tank (before they coated it) the solvent was draining out of nearly every surface on the tank. It was like a sieve.

Typical melted fuse box
I re-used this thing, after I tested all the remaining connections and squeezed the clips tighter. I just put the melted circuit on an inline fuse. There must be a dozen of those behind the dash anyway.

May 2004 Right Rear Strut
I took both sides off the car and used a sawsall to cut the spindle pin, then took the parts to a machine shop to press the pin remains out of the strut.
