That is exactly what I thought. I guess he was just pulling my leg, or trying to sound smart in front of his girlfriend. I had to make sure since i am having a hard time locating a good complete L28et.

I found an engine at the junkyard. It was already out of the car. All the ECU and wiring are missing as well as the turbo. It has a P90 head and the guy says it is out of an 81 model. I have no way of knowing how it runs or how many miles it has on it. I don't know how long it has been sitting there either. Is there supposed to be a flywheel attached to it? It doesn't have one, but will my 78 280z stock flywheel fit. He wants $300, I wanted to do a rebuild anyway. Do you guys think that is fair? Do you guys have any tips to offer me while I asses the condition of the engine. Then I still have to buy an ECU and a Turbo and wiring, and who knows what else I'll need for the swap. Is it a smart move to make the purchase with a budget of 2grand? I'll still need to buy another turbo and rebuild. Plus I'm gonna put it in a 280z so I Need to be prepared for what surprised will pop up during that expedenture. I've really been looking for a running car but no luck.

Rebello Racing wouldn't happen to build up L28ets would they?

Upon disscussion of my planning to do an L28et swap... One of my local Z friends told me that a Z31 engine will just bolt into a 280z. I told him I've never heard that. I thought it would take motor mount mods, and not just "bolt in". Is this true?:cross-eye

Where? I can't find a 280zx turbo for sale in any ads. I checked Zdriver & zcar.com with no luck. Any other Z sites I may have missed?

I will check the junk yards and going to corpus is easy. I am not sure what to expect from there, plus I was looking for a better than stock engine. A rebuilt stock engine is good, I would take it (or the car) if the price is right. I am very worried about taking a chance on a Junkyard engine due to my limited knowledge of recognizing quality in a pick and pull enviroment. There was a good ZX turbo in my home town but the turbo(with manifolds) & cylinder head are gone. Rats. Oh well i'd imagine that engine would need help not being run in 8 years.

I forgot to mention that I would like a complete engine with turbos(which of course would include manifolds) and anything else needed to complete the swap that is engine related. Yeah I wanna upgrade to something faster, plus i've never enjoyed the thrill of a turbo charged vehicle.

I want to buy a L28et engine that Is built up a bit or rebuilt. Basically I'm looking for an L28et in excellent shape, to drop in my 280z. Right now I will be shopping around for the right price, I'm just wondering if any of you guys have one laying around you can sell me.

Yeah what they said! The Members attitude and the oranization of the site are great. I agree with Zmefly on the Chat room. Maybe on the homepage or above the options menu there could be a box that says if anyone is in the chat room.

I suppose it could be sanded down and painted it is just surface rust and they are still strong. Texas Z has the bumpers now you should pm him to see if you can take it off his hands.
