unfreezing locked up brakes for tow. Need help.
For the thead reference: I got them off by hammering out the brake drums in the rear. I broke some pieces off one so if you are trying to salvage them be careful. I removed the caliper pins, cut a brake line and knocked the brake pads out (way easier than the drums once i cut the line).

carbed Turbo!! Is this some sort of kit.
Sorry too excited i read what it is now. The turbo kit is a Turbo Toms draw through set-up that connects to a Holley 600 cfm double pumper carburetor. It is connected to the engine via a custom Turbo Toms log style intake.

turbo???
If your car is good then find the turbo motor get it swap motors then sell the other car to get some of your money back . Or just junk it.

turbo???
The only thing that could make this project unworthwhile would be too much rust. I was reading in another forum about your rust probs. Make sure you have a solid car first before you start putting $$$ into it. Look at your floorpans, frame rails, make sure there isn't holes, Or very bad rust. If there is you can buy replacement parts. If there is just too much the only option may be just to hunt another car down if you want to get serious about performance. If you can post pics of your car and I'm sure other members can help you. PS if you gotta hunt another car down find a 240z (if not a 280z), my OPINION is that the early Z just feels much more Z like. If not find a 280zx turbo.:devious:

turbo???
Don't sweat it being new, thats what this site is for. Also if you do some searches in the search menus you can find other threads on the same subject. I noticed an error in my last post. I said you could transplant the engine to 70-78 Zs but you can also transplant them into 79-83 Zxs also!! Even your ZX. Also i fixed one of the links in my last post. Hey since you drive a ZX you will love this one!!! http://www.angelfire.com/extreme/280zxt/

turbo???
There are 2 kinds of 81-83 280zxs. A turbo model and a non-turbo model. The common thing to do is to swap the engine from the turbo model (L28Et) and drop it into the Z car of Choice( any 70-78 Zcar) You can keep your existing tranny and drivetrain if you want. The L28et is desighned for turbo applications and the non-turbo engine isn't. Its alot cheaper to find an engine(in a junkyard or more preferrabley from a runnning turbo ZX auto models are real cheap sometimes) and get it installed. Other options also include buying a already built up engine for lots of dough: Check these links out: http://www.zcarperformance.com http://www.geocities.com/spized1969/ Most of these sites feature the early Z but you can swap an L28et(turbo 280zx motor) into your ZX!!
-
300hp?
bet ya have an auto though. I'd like to keep my manual. It's actually cheaper to go L28et. The Z drivetrain can handle the extra HP.

Z32 Lust
Remember a jedi gets his power from the force flowing through. Not Twin turbos...J/K! I'm a hypocrite, cause i'm an L28et fan.

Z32 Lust
2manyzs is being seduced by the dark side of the Z force!! !!

240z Differences 1970-1973
I know the 70 &71 are lighter. One main difference I think. I know when its time for me to buy another 240z I want a 70/early 71.
