  1. i don't know about the hatch. Under normal operation if it is working properly: turn the key and put it in the horizontal position. then push the button. If it isn't working properly i think there is a way to get it unlocked though it will be very tough and annoying.
  2. The doors can only lock if they are closed. You can't lock the door while it is in a open position. You have to use your key to lock it from the outside while the door is CLOSED.(unless you are sitting inside the car then you can lock it by hand so long as the door is closed.) When i got my first 240Z this also confused me thinking my locks were broken. You will have to try very hard to get locked out of your Z.
  3. Good point. If your 240z has only 107 Hp then 260hp from a stroker would make it very HOT!!! Thats more than doubleing the HP!!! But..........I have a heavier 280z and 300hp (*from an L28et heavily modded $$$$)) sounds better to me than i thought; thats 180hp over stock!!!
  4. Thanx Mr. camouflage. carguy inok i didn't see any L28et dyno specs maybe i am blind. Very interesting info!!
  5. 400HP?!!! You gotta go turbo.

  8. I love the sound and look of the triple webers, header, and 2 1/2" setup. For my project it seems i am going to go turbo instead because of the Hp gains easily achievable. I would change my mind if I could supercharge a carb N/A set up and get like 300 horses. I am pretty sure that would be hard to do though and fuel injection is the best way. If I gotta keep the FI then I will just go turbo.

Thats the 350z S-tune, Nice pic!!! I am actually growing to like the front end. (I never thought I would actually say that and mean it):classic:

I have to say i didn't really like the 350z's looks at all when i saw the prototypes. Now after seeing it compared with all the other newer cars, and seeing it on the road a few times(once next to a chevy avalance, that is probably the one that did it for me, made it look like a Z), I LIKE the way it looks.
  11. Supercharge???? Is there a supercharger product that is L motor compatible? I've been wondering about that for a long time.

I wish i had the answer to your question but ........ I think the best place to get it is at hybridz.org many members there have done almost any kind of engine swap and will have the info you need.

How far do you want to go? A cheap tune up with your L24 and carbs will be lots of FUN! BUT if you want serious speed the L28et is the way to go. I was gonna use that setup on my 240z(weber DGV, ect.) till i saved enough money for a turbo(L28et engine out of 280zx) swap. I liked it cause you could get alot of HP and you could keep your existing tranny and motor mounts. You could try to find one in a junk yard or find a cheap used car with one running in it(probably best) and probably find an engine for under 1500. What I plan to do with the Z i have left is Buy a built up and performance rebuilt engine from top end performance ($$$ :sleepy: ) and drop it in keeping my 78 5-sp & R200. I was planning on doing this later down the road with my 240z and in the meantime enjoying the performance I already had.
  16. I took a look at mine since the blown originals are still in there. I think they are 4" speakers cause they are really small. I'm sure you could fit a five inch speaker though cause the frame around the speaker is pretty big.
  17. I am sorry i can't ansewer your question, but check this out, i don't know if you've seen it or not.... http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=1428&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 and.... http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=1427&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 I thought this was pretty cool of course i would never have that many amps. Probably way way loud.

  20. If you are using my mallory dist. then it has a mechanical advance and doesn't need a vacuum line connected to it!!!
  21. Ahhhhh............so this is a case of id plates switched. And I was wondering why it had no hatch vents. My 73 was 153000 somthing so they made that many?!! Or did they change the numbering system? I know you sure would know about this matter too. And I thought I actually found a real early Z:stupid: :stupid: :stupid: Well now I know. I guess watch out for a 72 with 70 ID tags coming from corpus christi, tx!!

  23. Does it make a sound like air leaking or somthing? You could need a new brake booster. MY 280z had the brake pedal adjustment nut loose and when i pressed them they would go too low but when i saw the brake lights stay on i knew it was the adjustment and I tightened it.

  25. I found a 70 240z at a shop on the way home from school. The owner said that some one left it there years ago running to replace the struts and never came back for it. Maybe I will go back and visit and take some pics. Some of the things i noticed were that the air cleaner was gone and there were no vents on the rear hatch.. As for the rust issue I'll just have to pull up carpet and post the pics. Maybe he will let it go for 200 or so. I don't have the money but if there is hardly any rust i know maybe someone else could save this early Z car.
