  1. I've messed with LEDs before on non auto stuff. Where do you buy LEDs for your gauges? I was thinking of doing the conversion but with only 5 leds off some power control stuff my dad has lying around(my dad is an electrician.) I didn't think that would be enough. My plan was to splice the wire and try to install them where the stock bulb is located. the more i thought about it the more discouraged i got about it. I was going to try making one work using parts from my parts car but since i didn't have the right kind of leds or the righ amount i didn't.
  2. I've never heard of it. I'd like to know where look for these. Regular auto parts store. Do you just buy the new led bulb and put it in the stock place?
  3. I've seen some five lug Zs around the gallery. Is there a 5-lug conversion I don't know about? Or are they custom jobs. I used the search function and found nothing.

  6. I know MSA carries autometer gauges for the Z. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000063NXU/104-6151080-6109555?current-page-variant=C041#reader
  7. I came across this... http://www.biopatent.com/struts.html and http://www.biopatent.com/rearstruts.html
  8. Nothing is a "no no" builld the car you want. If you want wide wheels flare it. Unless you really want a "stock" car. If a Stock car is not what you want. Why build a car for someone else down the road with your money.
  9. If you want more than 250hp then... there is also the almighty V8 small block chevy conversions also. A 2300lbs early 240z with a 300hp V8 will really move as you might imagine. It all comes down to $$$$$$$$$$$$. And time.
  10. I say if you want to modify a Z, if your budget allows start with a 240z they are lighter and will be faster. If you go N/A Modify an L28 from a taken from a 280z you can get 250hp. you can get serious get up and go by taking a 240z and dropping an L28Et engine from a 280zx turbo. modifications will get you to 250hp. You said mondern brakes, well people have done disc brake conversions and you can do a search for those options. If you want to modify a Z the lighter nimbler 240z is the one to use if you happen to come across one. Some people just want to keep them stock due to thier classic car status, but don't let that stop you from building your dream car!!
  11. From your info in your post buying that car sounds like trouble. Especially for $800 too much. Plus that sounds like the description for a parts car. I think the 2 seater is the more desirable..IMO. But I have seen pics of nice 2+2's on this site that are NICE. But other than i find them in junkyards run down.
  12. think so....kinda wierd..
  13. I came across another z concept on the web.
  14. I know, I know, but i couldn't resist making that comment. I was just kidding and a 280zx turbo does a whole lot more than just cruise I am very sure.
  15. Your red car? Yeah, that will work just nicely!!

  17. What is your dream Z? Are you the guy who dreams of a flawless original interior? Are you the guy who wants a race car for the weekend? Or are you the ZX driver proving you car to us early Z owners while we Zyoucruise? Are you a Zed murderer and destroy your Z so we could find pics of it on ebay after it breaks down on you so much you have to sell and we post pics to throw up seeing it? I dream of a Flared out blue 70-71 1/2 240z w?10" wide custom racing wheels i've seen on some cars, L28ET/modded out, 280z 5speed and an R200, roll cage and no compromises. Still trying to keep the interior looking as stock as swaybars and a roll cage will allow. While owning another N/A 280z with a good V8 conversion and like 400 Fuel injected HP with a 6-speed(probably will never come true). Also flared with DEEP dish 10"wide wheels. With compromises like A/C, and am mild stereo system. What is your dream Z,? I'm kinda curious what ideas you guys have for your cars.
  18. Yeah TKR is probably right it's all just marketing hype. Even though I drove a 240z on a daily basis I still wouldn't go as far to say i would prefer to drive a 350z. If i bought a new car right now for 30,000 it would be a 350z. Then again an air conditioned 240z and what z i could buy for 30,000.....but then I still have a 30yr old car... i don't know,... i don't have 30,000 so why dwell on it. I still like the 350Z and I would probably buy one too just because they are probably good cars. I know the ZX and 350Z wasn't all that bad in a way it just had to folllow the $$$ and customer focus.
  19. Nah, X stood for X as in X-girlfriend. Like X-Zcar!....ZX!

I had it on my 240z and now since my 240z is wrecked i transferred it to may 280z. It is a custom interior.
  22. Well I guess since there is only 3 instead of four that would make matters worse for them.

i got my Z wearing the edges off the tires and it was just the alighnment. I took it to a shop and they alighned it all wrong. (i compared their printout to the factory shop manual) I sent it back and told them to use the manual(I told them the first time, but who cares what I say) and I never had any problems again.
