Jack, shims and extinguisher came with car?
Ok, thank you. I was curious bc it's just a tiny little copper looking one and I was curious if it would be worth it to have it, buffed back out and held on to for the restore of the car

Jack, shims and extinguisher came with car?
I was just curious if all of this came as part of the package for the 260z back in the 70's or what bc I opend up the compartment in the hatch back to find these in there and the diagram of how to use the jack taped to the lid of the compartment. If these are from the dealer, any value to them or reason for holding on to them, besides practicality of the jack or just to keep the "original" kind of idea?

Paint ideas
I appreciate your input Chase. I haven't decided to do body mods bc that just wasn't something that I was looking into doing. I would like to keep it stock looking for sure, but I still wasn't sure about small things here or there, like smaller bumpers/molded bumpers or taking off the chrome accents completely. I kind of like the look of how they are on there, plus I'm not really juicing up the engine (keeping is a stock engine with the EGR taken off with SU's added and a small bore over). I like the way the paint is on it now but I really like the blues and that's kind of why I was leaning towards the first picture

Pulled OEM engine from different car to put her back into matching numbers car
So just got info on my engine being rebuilt.... Head gasket blew, and we assumed that the engine wouldn't have be honed, but the blown gasket fried the rings so now it has to be re-honed. However, I was told that the block will be getting dipped, painted and polished when all good to go. How awesome is that!?!? I'm so excited, I can't wait to see it!!!

Paint ideas
My 260z engine is getting finished up within the month, but before I put it back into the car, I would like to get her repainted and all cleaned up. I have a few different ideas and would like everyone's opinion for which paint appears to be the best. My Z has no body mode and I don't plan on any (at this point in time), I plan on getting the bumpers cleaned up and re-chromed once all the paint is taken care of and getting matching side/rear view mirrors. The 3 or 4 ideas that I have are either: 1) Repaint it back to the paint job that is already on the car 2) Shelby style paint job with rally stripes (blue with white stripes) 3) Reverse Shelby style (as I like to call it)(while with blue stripes) 4) Just all out "Shelby" blue with chrome accents and wheels I added pics to show the possible styles as well as my car as she sits

are these OEM wheels?
Nice, that would be awesome. I waiting in the engine to be rebuild and then getting the body overhauled THEN paint and wheel choices. I haven't decided to leave the same paint on if inwanna go with Shelby blue

are these OEM wheels?
I appreciate the clarification. Now I have to decide on whether I want to keep them or get a new wheel and tire combination. But that's miles down the road

reconnecting heating/ac/vent ducting
That will help out a lot. Thank you

are these OEM wheels?
Well apparently my Z got all of those put on to it too. Thanks AGAIN for helping me out.

are these OEM wheels?
Thanks guys, glad I know now

are these OEM wheels?
I was just curious if these happen to be stock rims or if these are just randoms that were put on. If OEM, what are your thoughts of black powder coating or chroming them?

Best Cost for the Buck
well thank y'all for clearing that up for me. As for the girl on the car, I thought that was a good "original ad"

reconnecting heating/ac/vent ducting
I have searched this site and others as well as my repair manuals but I haven't been able to find and diagrams of the venting for the 260z. When I bought mine, the venting was all undone and the previous owner gave all of them to me in a bag and I would like to reattach it. Is there anyone that happens to have or know where to get the diagrams to help me?

Number matching typically means the numbers on the engine, tranny, shell and frame ALL match, not just the engine and tranny. Now I haven't looked into that being different for Z's and if I'm wrong, please correct me.

Best Cost for the Buck
Well thank you, that's what I'm doing. I'm use to a 5 speed and love them, but this was made with a 4 and my mechanic said my block is great and will put out a lot of power and to keep it. So I'll keep it

Installing Heaters/Cooling to "stock" seats
Thank you very much!!! You are an amazing source of info, help and networking. As for the Porsche Family Reunions, nope, I have never been there but I'll have to start going with some people that own of course

Best Cost for the Buck
Well like I said, my car will appear mostly stock as can be. I did swap out the carbs to SU's with no emission regulations, possibly a 240 steering wheel as well. As for my personal touches for the interior, I'm just making them stock upholstery but adding heating and cooling components to them; but that's it. Well I don't plan on actually selling my 260z at any point in time. If I did, it wouldn't be for a long time up the road. I was more looking for conformation that I did the right thing by restoring the factory engine. The fact that I don't see many matching numbers Z's that aren't salvaged, excites me that I have one.

Best Cost for the Buck
I'm with you on the fact of knowing that it's matching numbers all the way around. I just know that on MOST classic cars, the value is in the running matching numbers for the vehicles, unless someone is putting in $100k on a fully custom rebuild, which I am not

Best Cost for the Buck
I have looked over different posts and different site to see if there was any dollar difference in a "stock" rebuilt car (matching numbers engine and tranny to chassis) to a Z with a swapped drivetrain. I checked out a few different Z sites and posts to see if there was any major difference and on the NADA site, it just asked for the year of the car and tells info about the value due to the vehicle's state that it was sitting. This is a question I ponder as I am getting my engine overhauled to put back into my matching numbers car. I have a swapped 260z in it now bc the original one blew a head gasket before I bought it and the owner assumed the piston froze (it didn't) and just put the engine aside, until I bought everything. I am not looking to resell my Z now or if ever, but I was curious if I am getting more monetary value with my car being all original engine and tranny or if I could have just stayed with the swapped engine and had the same value. Mind you, my car is far from finished, step one was getting the original engine back to good form and then the body work to make her straight and "water tight" (bc apparently she's not) then working on the interior with my own type of flair while LOOKING original. Then of course brakes, steering, etc etc etc. As for right now, she is drivable, reliable and good to go, just not as pretty as I'd like.

Installing Heaters/Cooling to "stock" seats
They would be awesome, thank you very much. I was looking at getting the units and having a company that would be recovering my seats do the install on that as well, butvifvhes already done it, I'd love to talk to him about how they work and how worth it they are and if it is noticeable at all from a visual prospective

Installing Heaters/Cooling to "stock" seats
I have been doing some research on units to purchase and install into my 260z when I get my interior redone in the next month and I was wondering if anyone has had this done, verses installing full seats from different cars, of if anyone has done any DIY projects and installed anything like this. I love the idea of keeping the stock look but I want to add features, upgrades and items that are great but kind of undercover.

Why does the 260z get a bad rap.
I'm with you guys on that. I own an early '74
