Hi Jep it's from the Quadruple Crown Safari rally 79-80

Finally started working on the car today. I've manage to remove most of the parts and get some of the tons of filler of. What a wreck!!! It really lucky I'm use to welding wrecks because I'l need to stock up on gas for this one. I'll be needing some new/used front wings (fenders)and the light cowl sections at the front of the wings. The other bits of the body I'll do mostly repairs. I'd like to get hold of a wiring loom also. Anywhere in Europe for parts without silly prises?

I was afraid of that.... However I do have one other chance which is like Britain where you can have a form for SVA (Single Vehicle Approval) and if it is approved you pay the government money (called afgift) to pt the car on the road and register it with the "changes" It's a pain in the A**E but it can be done. The afgift can be quite expensive though. This process is how a hotrod would be approved and tested. I haven't bought the car yet but finding another in Denmark is not an easy task!! I don't think there have ever been any official models in this country. Who makes the V8 conversion kit anyway?

Here in Denmark it is difficult to get a car through it's test (called Syn here) when any form of conversion has been made unless you have some form of documentation approving it. I am looking at a Datsun Fairlady which has a chevy V8 conversion (the original engine is gone) and I have spoken to my local testing station about it. For them to pass the car I need some documents from TUV or Datsun or perhaps someone else official. Any help here would be great :-)

where is the gearbox no. stamped?

it's difficult for me to tell were the engine is from. It would have originally been an L24 then it's been changed by the previous, previous owner before 1986

after having a better look at the engine and gearbox that came with my project 240z here are the numbers. Any info is great:) engine no. L28-451267 gearbox nr. (stamped on top of bell housing?) 7419704 cylinder head has acasting nr. on the side - N42 go on.. tell me it's a special edition 50000hp beast or just the truth will be fine:D

yes i noticed that Alfa's were using the clover. but can't really find any reference on 240s

here are some photos of the two badges mentioned about on my project 240z. Any info would be great. Good idea with the new thread, there are loads of different badges and emblems I'm sure and nice to create a reference area here.

yes I'll take some better photos, just haven't had time ... Can't seem to find out much about by "googling"

forgot to mention there is a badge on the front which says Quadruple Crown Safari rally 79-80 Datsun and another badge which is a green four leaf clover. Any thoughts?

I've had a better look at the car today and there doesn't seem to be any modification to the inner side where the rear lights are :-) The rear bumper is also there just covered in loads of filler and the front bumper was inside the car, along with an extra cylinder head and the three carbs, plus other diverse stuff. The front seats are in good shape also. I'm going to have to do a load of welding but hey, I'm used to that ! the rear suspension is stuck and that's why it looks so low are the rear. Anyway I always strip any project cars I have previously restored down to a bare shell and this won't be an exception. It's US Spec. and regarding the wiring I'll probably fit a new harness. P.S sorry didn't make the skype last night my son was just not going to sleep ;-)

I haven't managed to go through the boxes of bits in the car yet so if I'm lucky the original lights are there. If not I'll be looking for a set of rear lights and all the bits that go with them. Alternatively I could just cut the car in half and make it into a caravan !

haha! it has the remaining parts of the car and combined with tired suspension and half flat tires it has an instant "slammed" look. I'llget it stripped down and on the lift asap and have more in depth info about the entalements of the project.

I didn't think so!! The previous owner suggested something about a "rally" look. As you say someone just getting creative....

After collecting my new project 240Z today I am unsure about the rear lights. Any ideas? They're not standard are they?

Well I finally collected the 1973 240Z today Not many here in Denmark however it was stored around only 60 km from me. The engine and gearbox is removed and it's kinda stripped out a bit, but most parts seem to be there. The previous owner mentioned that it had been a show car in the 80's being driven on a trailer throughout Scandinavia and may also have a rally background, so if anyone knows anything about it please let me know. It's fairly recognizable by it's airbrushed bonnet. Not my cup of tea but was probably pretty cool then. There is a body kit fitted and the bumpers are removed. Any info here is also appreciated. I didn't buy the one from dba. I haven't actually got it yet although the deal is sealed :-) I'm of to germany tonight until saturday but should be collecting in the following week. It has an airbrushed bonnet if you've seen it before. bordeux red colour. Danish ownership documents so no "afgift" to pay :-) fom 1973

hej Chris I'm a scotsman living in Denmark :-) and I,ve just bought a 240z to restore. Where do you get your parts from? Is there anyone in Denmark that has parts? What about standard/service parts? Any helpwould be appreciatted. Where are you located? I'm in Juelsminde. Bare til orientering... jeg kan også tale dansk ;-) Glæder mig til at høre fra dig.. Jason
