  1. I know that I am rambling now; however, I know nothing about racing my z car. What type of races etc. What modiication have you made to the car to be able to race? Again just curious and interested. Maybe not part of this particular forum.

I am thinking at this point at trying a heat / pressure activated tape of some sort. Not sure if the vinyl will melt or if there is stuff like this available for vinyl. If I am going to replace completely anyway it would not hurt to try something. I am not sure that the vinyl I have is original. Appears to be very new or never sat on much. Based on my knowledge of the car I am guessing that it was installed and then the car sat for 15 years. It has been on and off the road for the past year.
  3. Chuck, what car are you racing and what type of race. You may not get this until you get back. On the wheels I was thinking of switching to either 15x7 or even 16's. Putting most of my money into paint job this summer but want to have car completed by next summer. Why did you choose not to install the side kit?

Checked all these places and found head liner about $47. Not bad and probably worth replacing instead of trying to repair what I ahve. My current head liner looks new but appears to have a couple holes for some reason. In regards to the seats in vinyl I found a replacement cover for $245. Again my current seats look brand new accept for the issues with the seams. Not sure I can justify the money for new seat covers. Anyone ever repair their seats by sewing seams? I know we are car people and I hate to even use the word sew in this forum.

My vinyl seats are beginning to seperate at the threaded areas. About 3 places about 3-4 inches long. I have thought about trying to sew the seams back together but not really sure if this is even possible. Also, I have a few small rips in the head liner and thought they might also be able to be repaired with some sort of vinyl repair kit. Not looking for perfection here but somethng that will not be very noticeable. Any expereince or advice would be appreciated.
  6. No problem take your time. Trying to talk the wife into $600.00 for the MSA Type II body kit. Buying regardless but things go better with her buy in. Once this arrives the painting begins. Just trying to get everything else pulled together at the same time. Seperate issue but if you have side mirrors and or rims of some kind I may be interested. Again not needed for discussion right now. I understand your busy getting your race car going.
  7. Chuck, transaction complete. Send when you can. Also, not sure if you have the two clips that hold the side marker light on but if so please send as well if you can. If not I am sure I can get them online. Thanks.
  8. Chuck looks good. How do we handle the money transaction. Also do you know how the ignition switch is mounted and if the hardware is there. I have the metal bracketry shown for the switch in a box. Regardless just let me know how the money needs to work. Thanks.
  9. Chuck sounds good. I would like to see the photo of the ignition switch. I am not really sure what all I am missing. Not really sure how this is connected to what I have. I currently start my car with a flat head screw driver into a little metal part that has a small plastic insert that my screw driver fits into.

Andrew, these look great. Not sure if anyone out there has these and what they think. For the price I think trying to get mine working properly may not be worth the effort. olzed, an indy 500 car inspired my interest in orange and blue but you are probably right about the wife.

I am getting ready to paint my car and have a few projects left. Painting scheduled for 30 days from now. The two screws holding my stock side mirrors to the car appear to be stripped on both mirrors. Also, the mirror body tends to rotate to easy and moves during driving. Thirdly the glass is not perfect. Can these items be fixed? As anyone had similar issues? Is there a plate inside the door that the screws actually go into or is it just the door itself? Any help would be appreciated. Side note I am leaning torward a combination orange and blue paint job. Wife is trying to talk me into something a little more conservative (dark green or cherry red).
  12. Chuck, not sure if you have had a chance to look yet. Just let me know and we can then work out details.
  13. That would be great. While your add it do you have an ignition switch (part key goes into)? I guess you would need a key or maybe one can be made, not sure. Just thought I would ask. I believe I can be from one of the parts stores.
  14. Chuck, here is the photos of the light harness. This is the light side and as you can see the light components were cut off. Let me know if you have something.

I know this is a little bit old; however, I would like to do the same on my 76 2+2. Any luck finding a cheaper source or varifying that the 2+2 is different size than standard. I beleive they are different.
  16. Chuck, do you have an extra one sitting around?
  17. I think to eliminate any confusion I am looking for the complete light assembly including the wiring that is shown in the link above. This will make like easier.
  18. No. I have nothing but the harness from the engine harness to two ended wires (which I assume go through a rubber boot into a complete light assembly). Nothing on them and nothing after that. This may mean that I need the complete assembly shown in the link a few posts ago. May be able to splice the two ended wires into something but not really sure. Assume at this point I have nothing. Thanks for checking.
  19. side marker (orange)
  20. Yes that would be great. Not sure if these are exactly the same. Need the orange front RH version. I have the light harness coming to the light but they just are bare leads at the light actual connector at the engine harness side and I am not sure exactly how they connect to the back of the actual light. So given this the entire assembly may be best.
  21. Not sure if this is proper use of the forum but I am in need of a front RH marker light for my 76 280Z. I have some wiring but just stops at leads nothing else. I am guessing these can be spliced in if you do not have the complete light and hraness assembly.

Thanks for all the input. After long consideration I decided to wait until next summer and get new 16x7 rims and new tires. Put on 1 cheap tire and crossing fingers that the other 3 last another year. I see no signs of dry rought on those tires and tread is about 90%. Money this summer going to body kit, window gaskets and new paint job.

Not sure if my last post went through. My concern is buying 4 tires and deciding next year to go to 15" rims. Is it current wisdom to switch to 15" rims or am I ok staying with 14" rims. Just do not want to buy 8 tires in one year. After this I will make a decision.

Walter thanks for the input. Do you have a recommendation. I would like to have a good tire not overly concerned about wear (car will only get about 5k/year) but would like a good handling tire for most purposes and also a little bit of a tire for racing (amature at best).

Sorry Steve missed the links in your msg. I am sure one of the three will be fine. I plan on driving the car most of the year except in extreme weather conditions, heavy rain or snow or cold temps below 25F. I am leaning toward the BF Goodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S (195/60-14) unless anyone disagrees with the selection. Thanks for the direction.
