  1. Hi There, Glad to here I'm not alone:) The update is we have poured ATF into the cylinders and put the car in 5th Gear and with a crew of people started to gently rock the car back and forward. The ATF seems to be getting into the sump as it is all over the dipstick. It moved the most today a few inches back and forth. The ATF seems to also be cleaning the cylinders and get easily past the rings:) The advice was great. Will keep working it until we get the car to roll 80 cm in distance as this seems to be one engine rotation:) Then will fire her up if all goes to plan. Will update you all soon:)

Thanks for the welcome and all the advice so far:)
  3. Great, its moved a bit, about 1cm right and 1 cm left. Checked dip stick and some ATF has reached the sump. Will let sit now until next saturday and try again. Will post a photo of the project shortly so you can have a look. Thanks all
  4. Thanks for all the suggestions. Just one more question; how long should I leave the ATF in the engine before trying to turn it over?
  5. Thanks plugs are out and will top up more ATF today. There is plenty of coke in Australia not much pepsi. If I use coke it might not make it to the car
  6. Thanks for the tips, how long should I leave the ATF once in the cylinders before trying to turn? Thanks again
  7. Thanks for the fast response will see if I can get some Bp blaster. If not is ATF really safe to use? Thanks

Hi, My name is Andrew and I have just become a member as my Dad and I are restoring his original Zap Yellow 240Z 1972 model. It is a big project and I look forward to getting to know you and get som technical advice from those that have been there before. See you round!
  9. I've joined this forum to get some advice on a project car my Dad and I are working on. Dad bought the Zap Colour car new in 1972 but when I was born in 1980 he stopped driving it. It then sat for nearly 30 years at my grandparents' until we decided to restore it. However as you might imagine the car's engine refuses to turn over. We have tried to turn over by hand with a socket on the HB and poored WD40 in all cylinders for a period of time. When we try and rock the car in gear it doesn't seem to roll either. We have also tried a new battery and the starter tries to turn but not enough grunt to turn engine over. We know all electrics are fine on the car and working. Any suggestions out there regarding techniques to try to turn the car over would be appreciated. I have also hear about a product called Marvel Mystery Oil, and this may help to free up the engine. Have any of you had sucess using this product in this manner, and do any Australian members know where I can buy it here? Thanks in advance
