Hey all! Well I have been puttzing around with the dash. Using a heat gun I was able to remove all of the original dash cover flawlessly, grind out and fill worth great stuff, reinforce the back of the foam pad with fiberglass. Since then I have been smoothing the dash out with the flexible bumper repair kits. Looking at it now I am starting to consider covering the entire dash worth the flexible repair kits and then repaint it worth sems texture paint and seal it in a clear Matt finish. Just curious if any one has attempted anything in this direction? Sent from my SCH-R970 using Classic Zcar Club mobile

newtonhubcap replied to Mike W's topic in Electrical
Hi Mike, job well done. I am touch with Jay Harris in regards to Isis system which is now Infinity Wire Solutions. Look forward to getting the system and getting them on the cars. Feel free to pm me or even contact me via private email (newtonhubcap@gmail.com) Thanks, Newtonhubcap -
Boy! Am I a "Gomer"! I just found out the plastic knob just pulls off. Just be sure to pull straight... Sorry for posting before exhausting all my options first. newtonhubcap

You can see the cable dangling on the left in the picture.

Spent the day with one of my 71 240z mistresses! Finally made the move to pull the dash with intentions of either sending it out to be reskined or do the repairs myself. Managed to get all the gauges out of the dash with no issues except one! Unable to pull the mileage reset cable down through the dash skeleton. Was able to remove the reset cable from the back of the speedo by removing the set screw but am unable to pull it down through dash sheet metal hole. The feral is just a smidge to large to go down and through. Would appreciate any advice on how to pull that cable through. I can only see cutting it but really don't want to do that. I would add additional photos but the having fits trying to upload additional pics. Thank you all in advance for your advice, Newtonhubcap

Thanks CantechZ, I was able to the roll pin out. Everything there works great. Just need that piece that slips into the spring. The image you sent has the correct switch or very similar to mine and it appears that piece is like a small copper insert. Will have to look around and see what I can find besides another non-functioning switch. If any one has suggestion where to search for that little piece in the end of the rocker switch would love to hear back. Greatly appreciate all the info. everyone. Newtonhubcap

Morning Capt. Obvious, unfortunately I do not have another switch. I agree the shape is weird and no need to be conductive. Will have to ponder a bit on this. Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk

Ok, not quite the kind of day to stand outside in Wisconsin with 2" of new snow so I decided to find a project I could do inside. I had noticed the console defroster rocker switch was difficult to move back and forth so I took it apart. What I found was, well, not to sure. Needless to say the teeter plate switch that makes the contact appears good. The pressure contact (the thing with a small spring that sits end the end of the rocker switch, lower left portion in first picture) appears to have been worn down (would expect that, 3rd picture by istself). So, my question is this piece appears to possibly be non-conductive material, is that correct or was did that have a solder on it? My first thought it was solder and all I needed to do was just put a solder ball back on it. But when you look closer at it, it appears there is some sort of epoxy on it. Would appreciate some guidance to either a link where someone has done this repair or any advice on how to proceed. Greatly appreciate you help in advance, newtonhubcap

Well, it may be March in WI. but it was almost 64 degrees here in the north. So, today I rolled one of the 71's out on skates and starting working on dropping the fuel tank out. Once the tank was finally out I examined all the 40 plus year old grommets which are extremely brittle. I wanted to ask if someone could direct me where to track down all the grommets from firewall, floor pan, emission hoses, wiring grommets etc.? Thanks all in advance, newtonhubcap

Which paint for gas tank, floor pans, rear deck?
newtonhubcap replied to charliekwin's topic in Body & Paint
I just visited the MasterSeries web site. I like what I saw and believe is well worth the monies. Another product I have seriously looked at is KBS products. I have used their "Nu-metal putty" to repair rust holes in like in the metal scoops with great success vs spotty welding holes up. Stuff sets up as hard as metal! -

Hi Sean, great looking pipes! I noticed that all the exhaust ports are square. Do you make a round port for the like the E31 heads? Thanks, Wayne -
Reproducing HeadLight Covers input needed from the community
newtonhubcap replied to Metalman5151's topic in Open Discussions
Hey metalman! Great work on the covers. I know there was an attempt over on hybridz to replicate them but it appears that project came to a halt. I hope when these are done your let all of us who have followed your progress you give us first crack at a set. I have two early 71's and one will for sure be stock and the other a play car. Please let us know when you have finalized the covers. Great work! Wayne -
Thank you Chuck! Wayne

Ok, I have a chance to buy 4 brand new set of Konig LG 102 rims with center caps and lugs. They are 17 X7 4X114.5. I don't have any intention of flaring but looking to put coil-overs on one of the 71's I have. Will these be an issue to run and would it be worth my run to pick them up or should I consider running 15" rims? Thanks for your input!

Hey all, I just recently acquired a set of hubcaps for one of my Z's. I have reviewed articles regarding the color of the cap (gray etc.) but I am looking for info regard the red color that is on the Z medaleon in the center of the cap. I have attached a picture regarding the center cap I am referring to. Thanks in advance for all your input. Newtonhubcap

Just want to say thank you to those who replied. My antenna rebuild was extremely successful due to all the great comments. I ended up using Gator-line .130. Have attached a few photos of the through the build. Now if any one has the top nut that secure the antenna in the quarter panel I would be interested in buying it. Plus, if any one has a mast they do not intend to use I would be interested in that to. I have one more working motor assembly but it has no mast. This is one fantastic community!

Built up enough courage to take my "acorn" oem antenna apart. As with most antennas the motor works but antenna doesn't move. So, I pulled the antenna apart. Of course the sections come out the bottom of each tube and at the bottom of each tube is brass collar that the antenna tubes are crimped too. Using my dremel cut-off wheel I cut each brass collar off and pulled each tube section out. I am down to the final section but just learned the "Acorn" tip will not fit through the final section. My question is doe any one know how the Acorn tip is installed? Is it solider, does it screw on what? Do I need to cut it off and then weld it back? My objective is to install a new nylon insert into it and reassemble! Greatly appreciate any info or point me in the right direction. Here are photos of what and where I currently stand. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, that is pretty much the route I will go with. Originally, I thought the site was Tapatalk but thank goodness its not. It is terribly diificult to do historical type searchs on tapatalk. Just disappointed we moved from the czcc app, oh well. Thanks all for clarifying that one tapatalk is not a necessity unless you are mobile.
-
Zed Head, what I get is the following: Error Connection error. Please try again later. Click Ok and it goes back to the login screen. I can get to the site through explorer but when I am away I use my phone to visit the site but apparently I can use the CZCC Mobile app any more.

Ok, I have to ask a truly stupid question... why is tapatalk associated with this site? I am a typical confused. I use to access this site via the "classic zcar" mobile app but then kept getting this server error, would you like to download "tapatalk". So, my other question is are we going to maintain access to the original "classic zcar" website or will it eventually require to use tapatalk. Sometimes old shoes are just fine, especially we me. Don't have a lot of free time to spend learning a way to communicate with this site. Thanks all, newtonhubcap

Hi all, I am still green with this "Tapatalk" stuff. Since we have abandon the old site I have not seen or found where or what was done with the old "classified section" we had. Any info on how to relocate it would be greatly appreciated. Newtonhubcap Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk

I have been away from the site for a while to return a whole new format. Slowly I am getting up to speed but one portion I have not been able to locate is the "classified". Has this been completely removed or am I being that blind. Thanks for any guidance. newtonhubcap
