  2. He is right but if you use a water base stripper and washing a high pressure washer you should be inn pretty good shape. Plan is to strip the car to as close to bare metal then sand blast and follow up with more pressure washing. Never can wash to much. Overall both of the cars I have in really good shape. 3. Thanks Dennis. This car 2 layers. The 2nd car is 4 layers plus the primer. One car at time, right. Enjoy the weekend. Wayne Sent from my SM-G930V using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  4. Didn't work on the door today but did work on stripping paint off the body today. Decided to try an old bodyman trick stripping paint. Was taught (ok, was told) to put the chemical stripper on the surface and wrap it plastic wrap to trap the chem vapor on the paint and to keep it from drying out on you. You use a lot less chemical too. Sent from my SM-G930V using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  5. You likely have removed the broken bolt. Typically one can clean the shaft of the broken bolt and the wedge a nut on it and then weld it. Once cooled then take a 50:50 ratio of acetone and brake fluid. Start wetting the bolt and hole with the solution. It will take a bit of time for it to work its way down the threads. This has worked well on numerous broken or seized bolts. Sent from my SM-G930V using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  6. Finally got some time this evening after work, doing dishes, and mowing the lawn to work on the passenger door. I am trying out the KBS products (rust seal/preventative). Earlier I had removed the door skin. Tonight I applied their Rust Blast (etching and a zinc coating). This evening I sprayed their Rust seal urethane paint. Debating whether I will either use Lizzard skin or mats yet. Plan to do that before reassembling the door. Hope to get the door reassembled this weekend, maybe. 7. I just finished my louvers. I used an ultra-fine glass bead in my media cabinet. Took 3 hours for each louver but the results are clean plastic surface. I will still sand each louver with 220 wet and then prime. Sent from my SM-G930V using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  8. Diseazd, Could provide a link where your friend sourced a full quater clip from? Thanks, Newtonhubcap Sent from my SM-G930V using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  9. If you can get the lip to lift with their skin removal pliers, I would say yes. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  10. If Zcon comes to Wisconsin maybe hold in Elkheart and may be a day on Road America road race course! Sent from my SM-G930V using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  11. Hey why not have up here in Wisconsin. Temps today 67 degrees. Sent from my SM-G930V using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  12. Order the tool from Astro (company who makes it). Yes, the tool fold the lip of the door skin up and back. Panel just slips off. As for blasting, if you sit in one spot you canwarp the panel. I move from one side to the other. Eventually I get the whole thing done. I Like today, took the cross bar out of the door and blasted both the door frame and door skin. Ready to rust seal with KBS rust blast. Sent from my SM-G930V using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  13. I know this thread long and great but I was reading through it again that raised a question. Being new at actually restoring a z car then was some discussion that alluded to sheet metal parts (fenders) available from Nissan in Canada. Is that correct? Back to focus on the current thread but a simple yes or no would appreciated. Sent from my SM-G930V using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  14. Not sure what you air drier system is but I use La-Man 110 drier at the compressor and their Spg102 inline dryer. Very high quality and very about providing dry air. Great project to follow. Sent from my SM-G930V using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  15. Serban, not sure. From whatI know this is everything from the engine to the dash. If I, I will get back with you. Thank you. Sent from my SM-G930V using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  16. Odd, I tried uploading the pictures but crashed. So, trying again through the laptop. Like I mentioned this thing worked really slick.
  17. My new toy tool arrived yesterday and with the weather being crud I just thought I would try it. So, what I got was an Astro DS2000 door skin removal tool. Took 30 minutes max to strip the door skin off the 240z door with the flange fold still attached. Can't wait for the DS1000 door skin crimper to show to reinstall the skin once done. Plan is to bead blast the inside of door frame and back side of the door skin. Seal-paint and reinstall. Hopefully good for another 40 years. uploadfromtaptalk1498172594724uploadfromtaptalk1498172701625 Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Thanks for you input. Newtonhubcap aka Wayne Sent from my SM-G930V using Classic Zcar Club mobile

  25. Sorry to hear about your loss. Who would ever imagine these fantastic critters could mean so much to us. I am wildlife biologist and work in the field alot doing surveys. For 12 yrs. my buddy Darby worked by my side. Last August I had to put him down due to kidney failure. This is my first year working alone without him. I sure miss him.
