Yes, I don't discount the experiences of others. I certainly entered the transaction eyes fully open.

The local Kart Club (tickets through the Z Club) hosted an fundraiser last night to premier the new Senna movie. http://www.ckrc.com/SennaMovie.htm Really well done movie using only archive footage- no present day commentary. Some cool home videos and F1 backroom stuff from a very Brazilian perspective. Very moving and I would highly recommended the movie. www.rottentomatoes.com/m/senna/ Wouldn't be a bad idea for other groups to fundraise- completely sold out at 300 persons $30/ticket + silent auctions and raffles. The film's producer obviously supported- we were told that the movie won't be released until September.

For a yet undetermined reason, the part hasn't worked perfectly- not an installation or compatibility issue. Difficult to return for refund or replace (as initially offered) so LLC gave me a substantial refund to repair. Like all interstate transactions, maintain a good relationship with your credit card company. (LLC resolved the issue without the threat of my platinum credit card's complaint process).

Recently made a pretty significant purchase. Although things didn't work out perfectly, Al proposed some options and ultimately provided a very fair resolution. I am appreciative. Michael

Sure let me know. The shop is closed for July but then after we could make arrangements. I got this neat KURLAND dealer emblem in my box of goodies. It is mint but was maybe taken off when the car was painted, I will ask. What models did Kurland sell, imports? Any European cars? I found my car in Estes Park. Darrel was a gentleman.

Darrel knows more about my car than I do. (He probably always will). Darrel spent weeks overseeing the purchase and work on my car and I greatly appreciate. No I went the shortest route because I was scared of something going wrong on the car that hadn't really been driven in 20 or 35 years. I will take the family to the Mammoth site- sounds cool. I did see Doublewoppers beautiful Columbus, MT. Got lots of offers to trade the car- a cowgirl in a Ram Truck in Douglas WY, a big Coke truck at a gas station in Billings. The Calgary Z club has reached out and I am heading to a show in Edmonton on Sunday with a long list of touch up questions. From the Alberta inspection I had the drivers wheel bearing repacked (noticed a difference) and have ordered the 16 bushings for the stabilizer bars (dry rot) and a new driver's weatherstripping both from Courtesy. Nissan Canada just kind of shrug when I inquired on parts. Lucky to have the contacts through the forum. The paint will improve when I get a chance to polish and wax but it is a classic 4 foot paint job. Jim in Calgary has helped me and knows a good local paint guy. Thanks again.

Very nice car Michael, original owner plus. (Our cars were made in 1975 not 76 as you typoed) The window sticker is 7 9/16" wide by 8 1/2" tall (7 1/2 x 8 1/2). What did you use to clean the value cover so well?
  8. I drove through your beautiful town last Friday with my new Z. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?42871-Lucky-4000-mile-Z&p=369243#post369243 Wished that I had known. Next time.

I am definitely shy to wash the engine given all the decals and markings that it has. We changed a couple heater hoses that showed aging but otherwise the engine bay looks good. Original spark plug wires, etc are fine. Original brakes and spare tire holds air. Dash and interior are incredible. Seat belts buckles still have factory stickers on them. Had synthetic engine oil for the past decade. The car had an automatic transmission which is why I changed to a 1982 close range. If anyone is looking for a 4000 mile 3 speed and console let me know. I left them in Boulder, CO. I posted elsewhere- the car was previously painted. The original paint had marks from a stale bra and louver. A bad rush decision was made by the owner since it couldn’t be properly touched up. I have photos of the car right before painting and the body shop receipt. It hasn’t had any rust or accident work. I also verified the story- "can't match silver" the shop said so they repainted the car. The owner was an older gentleman and thought that he was improving the car. I would never have got the chance to buy otherwise. If original I probably wouldn't want to drive and wouldn't have changed the transmission. Not problem for a perfect paint job if I decide. At least I can drive it without rock chip worries (expect I need to keep the glass and headlines original). Except for the paint it scored mostly all 1's on a Denver appraisal. Will talk to some members this weekend. Let me know if anyone wants a photo of the engine decals or anything. I have all the dealer 8 track manuals and stuff. I have year after year Colorado emission and inspection records showing 200- 300 miles driven each year. The original owner was a pilot and bought it for his wife. She didn't like the low seating in Denver traffic so it sat- never saw winters. The last owner simply stored it in a heated shop. The car surprisingly had a r-200 rear end. My Denver friend who helped me throughout told me that the automatics should have had a r-180. It was an early 1976, manufactured 11/75 so it is missing some emission controls. I bought the car and selected the mechanics/transmission completely unseen and a couple guys from forums went out of their way to visit the car in Estes Park and Boulder and make recommendations.

Thank you, it was joy to drive through CO, WY, MT and AB. Some real nice comments and talks along the way. Yes I will plan to drive to Edmonton early Sunday morning as long as it doesn't rain. But the car will then be miled out for its second service...... Look forward.

Thanks guys. Everyone has been so supportive- especially some new Colorado friends. I did join the Calgary club and Yahoo board (not quite sure how Yahoo works, I tried to post a message a few days ago). I do need some local contacts for body and special mechanical- I will contact Jim offline. I use Continental Body and Vitek Mechanical for my newer BMW's but I doubt Walter and Arron are into classic cars. Attached are some photos from Boulder- still in "barn" condition. The engine plastics are still snow white. The factory decals on the shocks say IY 02259 if anyone is interested (tough to photograph properly).

I am having trouble seating the weatherstripping on my 76 Z driver's door. The gap on the upper rail (shown in the attached photo) is supposed to exist, correct? A mechanic attempted to fix, but the door seal was too tight (trouble opening door). I will likely buy a new door seal but I appreciate your advise. Also the window has to be pushed the last 1/8 of an inch to close tightly. Any ideas rebuilding the crank mechanism, is there a replacement kit available? Thank you.

Recently purchased a 1976 Z with 4000 miles since new. Had a lot of help from a local Denver member and a great mechanic. Carefully drove back to Calgary from Boulder Co. Z now has 5100 miles. Will detail and post some pictures. Have all documentation from new- have talked to the original owner in Denver (84 years old now). From what the mechanics and club members have told me it has the original headlights, windshield, etc. There are still factory stickers underneath and throughout engine compartment. Mint interior. Changed to close range 5 speed in Boulder and had to get full Canadian mechanical inspection. Everyone who has had it on a hoist or looks it over is amazed. Car is not perfect but it is wonderful. Anyhow, I appreciate everyone's assistance in your posts and those I have contacted directly.
  14. Thanks for the detailed responses. Any recommended throttle joint and bearing lubricant?
