you could do a wet test, but from what you are complaining about, i dont think you need to. It is mainly to tell you if you are leaking passed the rings or the valves. If you are short of power, i would not suspect the smog stuff either. First start checking that every thing is working and set correctly. first, has anything changed? Check the injectors. Are they all working. You can set a screw driver to each one and put your ear to it. If it is working then you will here a click. These cars get corroded connections on the injectors all the time. If one or two stops working all the time, you may only notice a lack of power. Check the timing. Pour ignition timing will cause a lack of power. Also any vacuum hoses, fuel filter, fuel pressure. If you can give me more specific info on what your are experiencing, i can help you find the problem. I am working with the same year of car, and i have become very familiar with this car. Just a lack of power would not condemn the engine. If you had blue smoke pouring out of the exhaust or dead misses in the engine, and one or two low cylinder readings, i would do the wet test, but it is going to be something less saver.
