In WAY over my head with this one!
It will take me awhile to figure out how to use the voltmeter! I decided I could wire new lights to my camper, I spent 3 hours trying to figure out why a wire that showed lights when it was attached to my truck, would not show hot on my test light. turns out the ground was not good on the test light. Multi meters or voltmeters have choices, I can only imagine that frickin nightmare. Although I do have a schematic.

I have decided to take the advice and try to tackle this wiring, either I'll get it straight or I will be completely bald by the time I am done with this. Now all I need to do is get the nerve up to stop staring at it and get to work.

I am about as dumb as they come with electrical! I have a Manx style dune buggy that cant possibly have more than 12 wires total and I have already lined up my brother in law to hook up a stereo because if i screw it up I may fry everything.

The car drives straight, I put about 250 miles on it.The wiring issues are isolated to the gauges, oil psi, tach, temp and fuel. I have headlights, taillights but no blinkers or hazards, There is no rust on this car, the bumpers are straight, driver condition, glass is good.

I gather 2,500 is too much for an AZ car. What should I be asking, out of curiosity.

I must say that the time I have owned my 240 has been ummmmm fun! I purchased it the end of last month. The PO had done some imaginitive work to the dash to say the least. I have driven it for probably 250 miles running here and there in it. Here's the deal on this car. 1971 240z AZ car 5 spd runs and drives great, I have headlights and tail lights and an ampmeter beyond that nothing else works on the dash. No fuel gage, oil gage, clock, temp or blinkers. The car is complete less stereo and half of the glove box door and the lense on the passenger side. I am putting her up for sale I can't figure out how to place an ad on the classifieds here and I don't care too much for ebay. I figured I would start here first and then go to CL.

Brand new to Z's need a little guidance
I have found my vin # and build date and now am confused, vin reads HLS30 55789 with a build date of 11/71. So not having seen a title yet, as i have not yet driven it, would I be safe to think this is not actually a 71 but a 72? Also can not find anything regarding vin #s for these cars as to what they mean, any help would be wonderful.

The a/c is there and complete, once the dash is together I will test it out. My brother owns an auto shop , thank god, so I can have it recharged or fixed before she hits the road, I do know the car was a daily driver from phx to tucson when the owners son lived at home and I can bet he had a/c!

My first plan is to get it roadworthy and then get her out there and knock the dust off her. I have never owned one or driven one! I have always been a 1/4 mile guy but I think road racing might be some fun. I thought about a full resto but I have been there and never seemed toreally enjoy the cars for what they were, always for what they were worth. I think I will drive the wheels off this one

- Brand new to Z's need a little guidance
Hi, My name is Don and about 4 hours ago I agreed to purchase a 71 240z. The car turns over fine and is a solid Az car. I can't say it's complete because I have no idea, yet. The gentleman who owns it (past tense) decided to pull the dash and console out to install new one. I am having him put it back together and should pick it up Tuesday evening. I need to find a fender tag or build plate or something with the vin # so I can do some research on the car. I have some experience with resto's just never a Z. I am curious about the 5 spd, whether or not it's original also. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will post up some pic's when I get her home, although it has had a repaint and needs a passenger taillight and wiper arm, it's pretty sweet lookin' imho. - Brand new to Z's need a little guidance
