Final Update: There is just a few days left to take advantage of this final promotion. If there are any others interested in participating, it is important that you place your order in time to have it shipped by Monday (Halloween). Affordable Chrome Plating: Final Club promotion
9teen7t240z replied to 9teen7t240z's topic in Group Buys
Update: I continue to have interest in acquiring quality cores that I can re-chrome for myself. For the most part, I am interested in picking up some sets of 260/280z tail light bezels, interior a/c fresh air vents, door escutcheons, and some emblems with full mounting pins intact. I am also always keen on trading my service for extra cores if that floats your boat. Feel free to contact me via messenger or email if you have cores to sell or trade . Mike- 3 replies

After nearly 5 years of serving the Datsun community, Vintage Chrome will be terminating the service by the end of this year. There comes a time in most every entrepreneurial venture when you reach a point in which you have a tough decision to make......"get big or get out". Unfortunately, achieving significant growth at this stage of the venture would simply require a commitment of resources that I am not prepared to make at this stage of my life. So, I have decided that "getting out" is the best course of action for me and my family. I know that there are members of the club that would still like to have some plastic parts chrome plated, so I am announcing a final production run and club member discount. The Promotion will work as follows: 1. Orders will be accepted from today's date, October 11, 2016, through October 31, 2016. 2. Pricing for many of the more common Z and other Datsun parts are listed below, but we also have the capability to chrome plate any rigid plastic piece, even if it was not originally plated by Datsun . If you need this customized service, please email vintagechromellc@gmail.com for a specific quote. 3. The customer must ensure that parts to be chromed are disassembled to the point where only the pieces to be chromed are provided to us. No other preparation is required by the customer. All stripping and prep work will be completed by us. 4. Payment Policy: Payment via PayPal is due at time of order. Domestic (US) shipping and handling charges will be $9.95 per package 5. INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: Prices are the same as quoted here except non-US customers will be responsible for freight costs and applicable customs charges, if any. 6.Shipping Info: Your parts should be be shipped to the following address: M. Robbins - Vintage Chrome 7250 S. Durango Dr., Suite 130-164 Las Vegas, NV 89113 9. Please be sure to include with your packaged parts: Your name Return shipping address Email address Phone number Special instructions (even if previously communicated through PM or email). Examine your cores carefully before sending them to Vintage Chrome. Peeling or discolored chrome is OK, but parts must not be warped, have cracks, gouges or missing pieces in the substrate. We do not repair damaged plastic parts or re-paint parts after plating. Un-platable cores will be returned (if requested) or disposed of. Pricing for many common Z and other Datsun parts are listed below: Item Description 260/280z Tail Light Bezels (pair) $229.95 240/260/280Z Center Vents (each) $39.95 240/260/280z round a/c vents: (pair) $79.95 240/260/280Z Door Escutcheons (pair) $59.95 240Z Series I Hatch Grilles (pair) $59.95 260/280z hood vents (pair) $199.95 Plastic Wheel Center Caps (set of 4) $199.95 240/260/280Z Heater Control Panel (each) $129.95 240/260/280Z Door Pull Strap Finishers (pair) $49.95 240/260/280z emblems Email your needs for custom quote Please contact vintagechromellc@gmail.com for quotes on other parts or anything custom. Pictures of some past jobs will follow. .

Thanks for the support and wishes, Mike. It has been a pleasurable venture and I've made a lot of new friends through the process. I'll post a notification of my "farewell tour" later today:) Hopefully Patcon will be able to use the service before it closes down. Mike

While I have purchased just a few items from BD over the years, I do think that they will be missed if only from the fact that competition is always healthy for the consumer. Their mere presence has undoubtedly served our community by keeping other vendors from getting too outrageous with their prices. Having said that, after nearly 5 years of serving the Z community with my chrome plating services, I, too, have found it necessary to wind down operations and discontinue the service. When your business model relies upon the activities of multiple vendors to fulfill your needs, and your primary customer base is experiencing static or declining trends, you find that you either have to expand your business or consider getting out. At my age, the only thing expanding in my life is my waistline (lol). Anyway, FWIW, I will be posting a "farewell" production run so that anyone who may still be in need of my services will have a last opportunity to have their parts chrome plated. Hopefully, we will have some new vendors step up and "take up the slack". Mike

Am selling my little lady to the highest bidder.......
9teen7t240z replied to 9teen7t240z's topic in Open Discussions
Thanks for the wishes, Kira. Am looking forward to having you join us locals at Cars and Coffee and Espresso and Exotics. There's still lots of room for additional guesses, and only one more day to do so. Anyone who hasn't played the game may as well jump right in. For those who have tendered their estimates/guesses, thanks for the input and good luck. For personal reasons, I hope the winner is someone who has estimated at the upper end:) -

Tomcat, When I return to town, I'll get some better pics of the interior and try to get some of the undercarriage as well. But, yes....both are in very nice condition. And, no.....you can't have my address:) Mike -
Am selling my little lady to the highest bidder.......
9teen7t240z replied to 9teen7t240z's topic in Open Discussions
A couple of reasons really. Unlike 240z's and fine red wine, I personally don't seem to get better with age. Each year it's getting tougher and tougher to fall into a sports car and climb out:) That exercise is best left to youth and /or aging ex-olympic gymnasts:) Secondly, with no active local Z club in Vegas, I'm finding fewer opportunities to really get out and enjoy the car as much as I once did. -
Have finally decided to part with my little lady. She's hot, sexy, and dressed to kill. She is unique....truly one of a kind. And now, she's going to sell to the highest bidder. Am attaching a link to the ebay listing below. Also, for fun, am going to offer a $100. chrome plating credit to the forum member who comes the closest to guessing the actual final bid amount before the auction ends on Monday. In order to qualify, your estimate must be posted no later than midnight PDT on Sunday. Since many of you seem to have a knack for estimating value, this is a chance to actually earn something for your fun. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-Coupe-/291847187243?forcerrptr=true&hash=item43f372ab2b:g:UEQAAOSwgZ1Xsmfo&item=291847187243 Good luck to all who want to play. Mike

It's looking good, KiraK. When you're finished with the refresh, you'll have to take it over to Cars and Coffee in Henderson one Saturday. I'm going to be bringing mine soon, and I've seen a couple of other S30's there in the past two weeks. Anymore, and we'll be able to start a local club! (lol) Mike

Anyone Else Obsessed With The Walking Dead?
9teen7t240z replied to HaZmatt's topic in Open Chit Chat
Like most of the long term addicts, I'm glad to see that Glenn is still among the living. Was a tough episode to watch when he appeared to be devoured. Guess next Sunday is the mid-season finale.....then 4 months of Sunday evening boredom again:) -
UPDATE: The final shipment for this promotion will be made on Friday, December 4th. This will also be the final shipment of the year. So, anyone who still wants to participate in this sale must have their parts to the Las Vegas office NO LATER than Tuesday, December 1st. If you are planning to have anything chrome plated during the promotion, please contact me via PM or email to the address below: vintagechromellc@gmail.com For those of you who participated in the last shipment, we expect to have your parts completed and ready for return shipment by the end of next week. Thanks again for your support. And, Happy Thanksgiving to all! Mike

On a somewhat related topic, I do occasionally buy groups of emblems for re-plating and restoration myself. On a recent group purchase of "Z" emblems, I found a different Datsun emblem in the lot. Can anyone help me identify this emblem and tell me which model(s) and years that this emblem may have been used? The piece stands approxinately 3" tall by 1.5 inches wide. Appears to be a grill emblem or hood emblem. The reverse side has two "tits", or mounting posts and a microscopic part number that I can't read. I appreciate any help anyone can give me.

I wanted to update everyone and let you know that the next outbound shipment for chrome plating is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14th. If you need to have any of your plastic parts re-chromed, it is important that they arrive at the Las Vegas address by Thursday, Nov. 12. After this, there will be only one more shipment during this promotion. Also, we are now offering gold plating as a complementary addition to our services. I am attaching photos of a set of Datsun 280zx turbo fender emblems that have been layered in 24k gold after being chrome plated. Gives the same, or better look than the ones Datsun originally painted gold. Naturally, we can do this to most any item we chrome, if you are wanting a customized ride. Let me know if you have any interest in this new capability. Thanks as always, Mike

For what is rapidly becoming an annual tradition, Vintage Chrome is once again proud to offer our fourth quarter/year end forum promotion for your plastic plating needs. While we did include metal parts with our promotion from last year, this year we will continue to focus on our core business of chrome plating plastic. We have had to endure 2 cost increases this past year, but have been able to absorb most of them without increasing prices. In fact, in the case of one of our most popular items (260z/280z taillight bezels) we have actually been able to generate a substantial price reduction by leveraging volume commitments. Another significant development this past year is we can now offer, for the first time, detail finishing on all parts that were previously painted by Datsun (such as emblems). Our detail team has even successfully replicated the resin-type "fill" that was used by Datsun on such parts as fender emblems. Now, you can have your original Datsun parts fully restored, instead of just chrome plated. For reference purposes, I am including a link below to last year's promotion and a new collection of pics from recently completed jobs. I will follow this post with this year's pricing. In the meantime, for specific quotes or more detailed general information, you may contact me at vintagechromellc@gmail.com. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50576-affordable-chrome-plating-year-end-forum-promotion/?hl=%20chrome%20%20plating. If It's True That We Are Judged By The Company We Keep.....
9teen7t240z replied to 9teen7t240z's topic in Open Discussions
Am not sure, but I think a "Doppelganger" is a European term for a chili cheese dog with sauerkraut. But since I dont' quite see the connection between a hot dog and a Datsun, I think I might have to Google that one:) Mike -
I suspect this may have been discussed in the past here on this forum, but it always makes for a good read. If it is true that we are judged by the company we keep, I'd say the 240z is keeping some awesome company these days. A Little Comic Relief For Everyone's Enjoyment....
9teen7t240z replied to 9teen7t240z's topic in Internet Finds
Is that the floor pan that's supported by the frame rail? Oops, my bad..........no frame rail. In craigslist parlance, this would be a "90% finished restoration". I wonder if the seller would entertain an offer of 22k, or is the price really firm???? () -
Ran across the ad below on craigslist today. Thought maybe everyone would appreciate the humor........be sure to check out the pics:) http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/cto/4846017532.html

Affordable Chrome Plating; Year End Forum Promotion
9teen7t240z replied to 9teen7t240z's topic in Open Discussions
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate any recent pics in my archives of re-chromed radio face plates. I'll continue to look for them, but, in the meantime, I am attaching a couple of photos of somewhat similar plastic parts that we had re-chromed the entire pieces, then painted the non-raised portions. In the end, the finished product looks correct. The samples below are of 240z glove box door emblems, and an emblem from a non Z Datsun (510 maybe?). Mike
