Affordable Chrome Plating; Year End Forum Promotion
9teen7t240z replied to 9teen7t240z's topic in Open Discussions
Yes, we can and have done a few radio faceplates in the past. (I'll search my photo archives and try to find a pic or two when I get a minute). Please note, however, that we can't just plate the lettering. The entire faceplate is chromed and then the portions of the plate that are supposed to be black will need to be painted. Will look for pics of those and similar parts and try to upload them later tonight. -

Update: As a friendly reminder, please be sure to dis-assemble all parts, including multi-part bumpers, before shipping, and remove things such as the rubber pieces before shipping to us. For purposes of re-chroming, we need to receive only those pieces that you wish to be re-plated. We don't have the systems in place to inventory, store, and return things such as rubber bumper pieces, carriage bolts, nuts, etc., unless, of course, you wish to have those pieces re-chromed as well. With respect to the 3 piece rear bumper assemblies, they too need to be dis-assembled prior to shipping in order for us to properly assess the condition and suitability of the pieces for re-plating. Thanks to all of you for the wonderful response to our promotion. We look forward to helping you with your rides. Mike Robbins Randy Lewis Vintage Chrome LLC -

Rossiz, For the pair of hood vents, you'd be looking at $150. plus return shipping. Can you confirm whether the surrounds are plastic, or are they metal like the actual ribs? As for your question on durability, these will be extremely durable as they are all electro-plated and come with a triple-plate finish. I've often thought about chrome plating these vents myself, for a custom look. Let me know if I can be of service. Mike -

Now that I've worked my way through the posting gremlins (thanks to Mike Good), I am attaching some pics of the pieces that were mentioned above. While many of these parts are plastic, you'll note that some are steel, stainless steel, and "pot metal". We can do it all, so don't be shy about asking for info on any other parts that you may want a quote for. -

Rossiz, Sorry for the illegible copy on the posting. I don't understand what happened, as my "post preview" showed everything as being just as intended. Anyway, I will ask Randy to revise the post properly tomorrow and get back to you with a quote on your request. I do remember responding to you sometime ago (shortly after my heart attack) and really do appreciate the patience you've shown since that time. I am actually considering chroming my vents as well, as a result of your original post. Thanks for your patience.....we will correct this techno issue and get back to you right away. Mike -

Now my second post took a turn for the worse. In the immortal words of Lloyd Bridges in the movie "Airplane"......."Looks like I picked a bad week to quit sniffing glue". Don't know how to remedy the undersized font issue.....can anyone help? -

hmmmm.....looks like my first post somehow "imploded" (). That's what I get for trying to cut and paste. Looks like I'm going to have to return to the drawing board. Does anyone have an idea as to why the text was suddenly reduced to an illegible size? Mike -

Hi, All, Feels great to be back! After taking an 8 month hiatus from my chrome plating venture due to health issues, I am finally back in the saddle again. Over the course of the past 6 months or so, I've had quite a few requests and inquiries regarding my future plans for the plating service. Also, some of you have inquired as to whether I'll be offering the year-end forum promotion that we've done for the past 2 years. As for the future plans, I have recently taken on a partner whom many of you may know (Randy Lewis). Randy is an active Datsun guy who owns a 240z, 510, and a 311 roadster and is even more passionate about Datsun's than I am. Moving forward, Randy will be spearheading the sales and marketing effort for the venture and I will be dedicating my time to the production issues. This new, improved model is called Vintage Chrome, and, as the name implies, is focused on providing high quality, affordable chrome plating of both plastic and metal to the classic car market. We are launching Vintage Chrome with a year-end special sale for all parts received at our Las Vegas depot by December 31, 2014. Our costs to chrome plate plastic have more than doubled on many pieces over the past two years and continue to rise so prices will never be lower than they are now. We are reducing these prices by 20% from our regular prices for this forum promotion only. I'll be listing some individual prices for many of the more common Z parts in a subsequent post. In the meantime, I am attaching some sample pics of past jobs that we've done. For specific quotes or more detailed general information, you may contact Randy at vintagechromellc@gmail.com. Happy Holidays to all, and many thanks to those of you who patiently awaited my recovery after last year's heart surgery. Mike

Affordable Chrome Plating for plastic and metal parts

Chas, Geoff, and Robert, Thanks so much for the well wishes. I hope to find myself "back in the saddle" in the weeks to come. I really miss spending time with all of the fine people here in the club, as well as in the industry in general. Am going to make a goal of attempting ZCON this year and hope to be able see many of you there. Mike -
Affordable Chrome Plating for plastic and metal parts

Rossiz, Unfortunately, for the immediate time being, the plastic chrome plating is undergoing a "hiatus" while I recover from a recent open-heart surgery. I am finishing off the last few orders and will likely postpone any future plastic plating until I have completed my cardiac rehab and am cleared to resume the long hours and high-stress by my cardiologist (as IF that will ever happen....) As I am looking at taking on a partner or two to share the burden with, I don't expect that I'll be in this "hiatus" for long. In the meantime, I am continuing with chrome plating of all metal parts here locally. Presently, I am negotiating a group buy opportunity for S30 bumper re-chroming, and hope to be able to offer some great deals here soon. Thanks for the inquiry.....I will let you know just as soon as I'm able to resume the plating of plastic parts. Mike -

Hi Everyone, I have a few restored, difficult-to-find parts for sale that I thought I'd offer the membership here before advertisig them on Ebay. All of these parts have been electroplated with a triple-plate finish (copper, nickel, chrome) which provides for a more durable and attractive finish than the more common vacuum metallization process. In the spirit of the Holiday season, I am attaching pics of these pieces displayed under a Christmas tree. If anyone would like to see them in a more conventional setting, please feel free to ask. I have the following items to start: Re-chromed tail light bezels for 260/280z : $249.00 per set, delivered anywhere in US (only 4 sets available) Vintage Keystone Center caps (from mag wheels on Z): $129.00 for the set of 4 (only 1 set available) Datsun "black pearl" center caps: $149.00 per set of 4 (only 2 sets available) All of these prices come with free delivery to any US destination. There are very limited quantities, and orders will be on a first-come, first-served basis. I accept Paypal and can deliver in time for Christmas. As usual, customer satisfaction is guaranteed. Should you have any questions or wish to place an order, please feel free to contact me at: stoogeman_1999@yahoo.com or via pm through this forum. Happy Holidays to All:) Mike

What are your getting your Z for Christmas 2013?
9teen7t240z replied to Travel'n Man's topic in Open Chit Chat
Mike, Thanks for the compliment on your past chrome orders. I look forward to completing your current set. In the meantime, I've got a couple of pics of the re-chromed tail light bezels under MY tree:) Mike -
Ray, I'm not aware of anyone reproducing the 260/280 tail light bezels, but I do re-chrome them and do have a few sets of finished bezels available for sale. Feel free to PM me for details and pricing info. Mike

Jim, You are right regarding the "extreme authenticity" that Randy has achieved with his tail light strips. I have had his prototypes in my possession for a few days and can attest to the exact replication of the OEM parts, as well as the detail and finish on his product. As you may know, I, too, have been working on reproducing tail light strips for the 240z. However, I have since abandoned that particular project as my supplier's interpretation of "exact replication" resulted in a product that just didn't meet the standards of authenticity that Randy has achieved with his offering. (who would ever thought that the word "exact" is a relative term???? ) Anyway, kudos to Randy for producing such a high quality reproduction of a part that so many of us have been needing for years:) Mike

Looking for 1976 280z hatch emblem and dashboard
9teen7t240z replied to dkassulke's topic in Body & Paint
I recently had a few of those emblems restored (chrome plated) and would be willing to sell you one if you'd like. However, most, if not all, of them no longer have the mounting posts, so you would need to use the double-sided tape to adhere them to your car. I'll check my inventory tomorrow to see if any of them still have both posts. In the meantime, Pm me if you have any questions. Hi, Everyone, As a logical extension of the regular chrome plating service that I have mentioned in previous threads, I have recently been able to acquire some cores of a few hard to find parts and have had them re-plated. Specifically, I've been able to put together a total of 5 sets of tail light bezels for the 260z/280z and have decided to offer them for sale on a core-exchange basis. These sets are available for purchase at $240. for a set of two with a core exchange. ($300 without your good cores). At this time, they are being offered exclusively here at CZCC as I've had numerous requests for these in the past but simply didn't have sets of quality cores at the time. Once again, these sets are in stock, freshly re-chromed, and ready to ship now. They will be sold on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested in buying a set for yourself, please feel free to contact me via either a PM or you may email me directly at stoogeman_1999@yahoo.com Mike R.

Jay, Given the very dynamic nature of specialty parts reproductions, limiting one's commitment to reproduce only those items that nobody else is making would tend to be a very expensive exercise in futility. I have researched the marketplace extensively and have learned one thing for certain......parts that may not be available today are sometimes offered by multiple suppliers tomorrow.( the previously mentioned chrome tail light strips are a perfect example of this.....you and I aren't the only businesses that will be making these) Anyway, as mentioned by others......a little competition benefits everyone in the long run:) Mike
-
It appears as though others are also planning to manufacture new 240z tail light bezels. As noted by one of the frequent posters with the CZCC, competition benefits everyone (with the notable exception of those who produce the parts:)). Having said that, I did want to let everyone know that our parts WILL have the mounting posts included on them, as originally designed by Datsun. Will keep everyone posted on availability dates. Thanks again for everyone's input into this venture:) Mike
-
Michael, Thanks for the information. Funny.....I once owned a 280z black pearl and totally forgot that the shock tower caps were completely different for the later s30's. It's been said that if you ask a stupid question, you get a stupid answer. But you and Carl provided intelligent answers to my stupid question:P Thanks again to both of you:) Mike
-
Carl, Thanks for the head's up on the rear shock tower covers. Did Datsun use the same design throughout the s30 line, or were there changes in these parts beween various models? I have a set of nice ones from my 240z that i could send as samples, but would like to confirm in advance whether I'd need any from the 280Z's as well. Also, do you have an idea as to when Datsun changed the radio faceplates for the AM/FM radios? And, would it be safe to assume that there would be more demand for the ones used on the 280Z than for the 240z? Thanks, Carl.
