rear valance replacement cost
I also bought a rear panel from Zedds Findings and it was not even close to the shape of an original panel. I ended up purchasing a used panel which worked great.

72 Datsun 240z Restoration
Hey guys, Im back with a few more pictures. I finished the floor pans, then took both door skins off and blasted the inner door shell followed by POR 15 and epoxy primmer. I got new door skins from Rare spares, they fit nice, but the metal was a little thicker than my original skins but no rust. I also installed my NOS hood ledge supports that I got from Courtesy Nissan.

Gold or Green?
I don't think you can go wrong with either color but I am more into keeping them exactly how they came when new.

Paint 112
My z was painted in 112 yellow when it was new. That is also the color that I am going back with. I also work in the collision repair industry and I spray PPG paint in my shop. The code 112 is still in my system after all these years and i mixed some not long ago to check the accuracy. It was spot on perfect to what Nissan used on the z cars. If you will find a PPG dealer in your area, you won't be disappointed. I would ask them to mix your paint in Deltron base coat. Richard.

harnesses,wires,etc. holddowns
Im not sure if you can still buy them but you could cut some new strips of metal and purchase a product called liquid rubber which is used to dip the ends of tools in to create a handle and put that on the end of the strips after you spot weld them back to the car. You should be able to find that product at a local hardware store or automotive center. Richard.

Floor Pans... Getting screwed?
I would NOT use Show Car Body Parts, as I have in the past . They will never send you your items if you order them. Also, as I stated earlier, 20 hours is fair for installing the floorpans if you have taken everything out for the technician.

Floor Pans... Getting screwed?
Hi, Iwork in the collision repair business and have done the z floor pans. You should expect the repair shop to be able to do the floor pans in approx. 20 hours. The labor rate for shops in my area is 42.00 per hour but some shops may require more if they feel this falls under restoration work

What to do?
I agree, you can always save your original fender with the patch panel in case you ever need it. I would spray an etch primer for bare metal and coat the fender with an epoxy primer after shaping all the dents up and then use a little filler to shape the fender up followed by a final primer.

ppg coloor mixture
Hi, If you use PPG Deltron base coat, and you pick their prime variant for that paint code, you will use the following colors, DMD 1682 CRS ALUM. 78.3 parts DMD 1690 CRS ALUM. 13.7 parts DMD 1683 BLACK 1.5 parts DMD 614 BLUE 1.0 parts This was for a 3 Fluid Ounce mix If you have any further questions, let me know as their is also two other variant colors for that paint code which would call for further colors needed to mix

1972 z Restoration
Carl, The door skins are coming from Rare Spares. The original ledge supports had rust on the back side and since I came across the NOS panels, I decided to go ahead and replace them with new. Also, I did treat the new frame rails with POR 15 as well as all the areas I can get to to stop the rust from coming back. I was also lucky enough to purchase a NOS rear hatch for my car from Courtesy Nissan.

I'm sorry for beating a dead horse, but......Does anyone make a NEW datsun wiring ha
There is a guy that sells parts on Ebay that goes by azariar. His name is Patrick of Patrick Restorations out of California. His prices are reasonable compared to Nos harnesses. I do not have an email address but he normally has electrical parts for sale on Ebay. Richard.

1972 z Restoration
Im back with more pictures of the progress on my 240z. I started replacing the floor pans and have one side completed. The pans came from Charlie at Zeddfindings. I also started work on the passenger door. I am replacing the outer door skin so I blasted the inner side of the door shell and treated it with POR 15. Finally, I removed both hood ledge support rails to replace with NOS that i bought from Courtesy Nissan.
