engine over heating with new su carbs
Captain Obvious You hit the nail on the head.I'm wanting to go with a different balance tube and plug the holes in the intake. I also have a long black hose that carries water from the thermostat to the back of the engine. This attaches to the lines coming from the intake manifold and balance tube. I have 170 degree thermostat (factory) in mine now. So does the factory thermostat have this bypass hole through them.

Try Z Car Source, but they are a little pricey.

Hi Mike I have the Hitachi wide band that you have. The 8 track player, leather case, manual, plus 2 speakers . I'm missing the volume adjustment knob.Everything was working when I removed it from my 72 510. Also have some 8 tracks.

[2014] What did you do to/with your Z today?
Fired up my baby and the radio, would not come on. Also had no brake lights and no flasher. Found a fuse blown on the ignition interlock and brake lights. Replaced the fuse on the ignition interlock, the radio and emergency flasher was back on. Replaced the brake light fuse, back on. Attended a local cruise-in in Roxboro NC. Only Z there, but that's normal. Won the 50/50 pot. Turned out to be a great day. My birthday was also today.

Original A/C units
I also had York compressor. Did you just cut and plug the dryer and compressor hose. The hoses are a bear to get off.

Sorry, I didn't go back and read post #1. McMaster-Carr has a lot of fuel hoses in different sizes.

Need 1976 280z tank fuel hose!
I think McMaster-Carr has the fuel tubing you need. Didn't Sport Z Mag. have a article on replacing all the tube from the vapor tank to the fuel tank.

My 240z restoration
I would find a garage so you could remove the old gas and install a new fuel filter. I would also inspect the frame rails. Driving the Z around on old tires is not a good idea, because you could have a blowout and damage a quarter panel. I would drain the transmission fluid and rear differential.

Site CONSENSUS on early Z with V8 transplant
I agree with post # 50 and # 57.When you replace the motor with a V8 it's no longer a Z. Love my SU's and 25-27 mpg on the highway.

Steve Are you still running the carbon canister filter on the 260z. Thought about taking mine off, but what about the hose coming from the gas tank.

[2014] What did you do to/with your Z today?
Cleaned on a spare valve cover with 1000 grit sandpaper for about 3.5 hrs. Going to try 1500 grit next then go back with the scorch brite pad. Also sanded and polished on two taillights on my 93 chevy Z-71. They look brand new. Don't see why this wouldn't work on some Z taillights.

Muffler suggestions
idoxlt8 This is exactly what I have heard about the MSA system. I also heard if you were running R-200 then you would need to bend the tailpipe to make it fit. Also add more hangers

Muffler suggestions
I'm currently running a Monza exhaust system from the 80's. So what's the best muffler or exhaust going today. I know this thread is old, but things change in 2 years. Looking for ideas. I've heard bad reviews on the Motorsport Auto turbo exhaust system.

That looks great. All you need are the decals. We want to the engine bay when you're finished.

New 280z Owner! First Z! SoCal!
I have the same rims, they look like appliance rims that were sold back in the mid 70's to early 80's. Nice looking Z

The rear over rider on the 73 240z and the early model 260z should be the same. That doesn't look like the right one to me.

1970 Z car on Ebay
The engine bay needs a major detailing, wrinkle paint peeling off the valve cover and the inner fender wells need painting. The bid at $28,000. What am I missing.

[2014] What did you do to/with your Z today?
Cleaned and waxed the inner fender wells in the engine bay. Also started polishing the valve cover using a scorch brite pad. That didn't last long, the temperate here was 95.
