Yes they will fit but its not the same pump. Its the impeller size thats different.

I picked up a cheap L16 original atsugi water pump and have started researching to see if it will fit my L28. I know about the pulley offset problem and was wondering if anyone has swapped water pump pulleys from another datsun to correct the offset problem.

For comparison, the LD28 is the new pump on the left and the Z22 pump is the right picture. Is it my imagination that the z22 impellers look bigger than the stock L28 pump thats to the left of the LD28 pump? They certainlay look taller. But does taller move more water? There is more surface area but is it the length of the impeller that makes the difference? The bigger impellers do work. There was a guy down in australia that hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to measure before and after water pressure. Before 28 psi and after installing a larger water pump 35 psi.

I picked up a cheap L16 original atsugi water pump and have started researching to see if it will fit my L28. I know about the pulley offset problem and was wondering if anyone has swapped water pump pulleys from another datsun to correct the offset problem. The size of the impellers looks comparable to the L28 pump despite the fact that its for a smaller engine. Since the source of LD28 water pumps has long since dried up, I ran across a page where someone compared the impeller size on the Z20-22-24 and it looked like the LD28 pump with the larger impellers and the post said it bolted on the L4 with no modification. But there again the problem of L4 and L6 pulley offset differences. I really don't want to use shims. I'de like to find a pulley solution. Before too long, the source of NEW atsugi pumps for the L6's will also dry up and it would be nice to find another source of pumps. I personally don't want to rely on the cheap stamped impeller autozone ones. While in my search for water pump swaps, I found out that you can use an L28 water pump on an L4. Just use the water pump pulley from a SOHC KA in the hardbody.
  7. With the Swiss franc shooting up in value, haven't these foreign parts just gotten alot cheaper? It would be neat to scan in the dimensions of those new rails into CAD for the future when 3d metal printers become affordable.

yahoo japan auctions. I just emailed a guy in tokyo that sells alot of nos early s30z parts to see if he can get some. lets see what he can come up with. Can't you reuse an old one and stake it?
  9. LA car????? i've only seen rust like that in coastal towns that have lots of salt spray. Me thinks its an upstate new york special and the ad is a prank.
  10. If i were buying your car and using it as my daily driver or weekend cruiser, I would want a spare tire well. Do they make fuel cells that don't require the spare tire well being cut out? The frame strenghtening im ok with because i would know that the car was previously raced but there may be buyers out there that may be sucpicious that it was used to cover a buckled frame rail or a rusty frame. Perhaps take before and after pics to prove your modification was for racing purposes?

you have to do your own homework on this one. get the vin# and use this free service to see if its stolen https://www.nicb.org/theft_and_fraud_awareness/vincheck then check the vehicle history for liens 4.95 for this service http://www.vehiclehistory.gov/ if the car has calif plates a person with calif DL can register as a user at this website. You can check the complete vehicle history here https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/online/vrr I wish they had this service when i lived in calif. 2$ fee This is a great tool to use when researching vehicle history if you want to track down the previous owners of a car and ask them questions on the car. if all checks out that could be a very cheap 240 s30 driver did you see the car yet?

Mine is black with panasports. You should see my commute. I have to slap myself sometimes. Very few places on this planet you can see whales jumping out of bright blue water on your way to work in the winter. Did you see all the private jets parked at the airport? Man the economy must be improving bigtime. As far as collectible datsuns here on this island... I once saw a very pristine early 70's skyline come out of that ultra rich enclave of Hualalai resort. The baby boomers are retiring in droves and the ones that have the cash will pay a good price. The best retirement savings plan is buying NOS parts and good cars. I would be shocked though if a 240z is ever worth 50k unrestored. If i were in the market for a 40k$ 240z, i'de import a ZG from japan

oh man i'de buy that in a heartbeat if i was closer. ah sometimes it sucks to be out in the middle of nowhere.

Hey i live here and i've never seen the lime green z. I think i know the orange one you're talking about. It belongs to an older gentlelman that works at the costco gas station. He bought it new and he always asks me questions about mine when i gas up in my z. If you look at the people who are bidding on the car, there is one guy with zero feedback. When i see stuff like that i think scam. the last legitimate looking bidder stopped at 37k.

Almost had wreck #2 but he went into the grass. Do you think it had a fuel cell or a stock gas tank?

anyone done the aux in mod to their later model clarion/hitachi radio? this radio is from a 78 i was thinking of using the stereo signal switch on the front of the radio as my radio power switch to toggle between aux and radio. i wonder if that switch can handle the load and or possible arching?

  19. That looks damn good. Personally I don't like 280's without bumpers they look unfinished to me. These give your car the classy factory finished look. You know what would make that back end even better looking is a 1 piece bre style spoiler.

errr... i meant insides of a rally clock oscillator. Anyways....ran across this page in japan. this guy is an electronics guru that fixed an oscillator. I had never seen the insides of one before but there sure are alot of things that can go wrong. No wonder they use so much juice. with no schematics to work with he succeeded in finding what was wrong. a burned out transistor. http://blog.goo.ne.jp/vrc-tezuka/e/250f389a49a12a856565a0c7e324e2f0 and another page where a guy took a 9$ clock and put it inside his calendar clock https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fminkara.carview.co.jp%2Fen%2Fuserid%2F1773801%2Fblog%2F33293852%2F&edit-text=&act=url

How the heck can someone track down a car in another state and was sold over 20 years ago? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4HIFrLMVbk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UK7MAZj86LE

yea but a nice zg there is worth a prettier penny
  23. Interesting way to fold the tops of the rails back into position. You would think it would just smash in the rail but once you remove the radiator support, the rails are very flexible. Very simple fabricated radiator support he made. Probably stronger than the swiss cheese factory one. That looks like a rust free fairlady. Over there they're worth lots more so expensive frame machine time is worth it.
  24. can you rechrome radio faceplates? i mean the chrome lettering on them.
  25. tolerances are usually given in our numbers and metric. no translation for those needed. BUT... is that 170 canadian dollars? I oughta buy a bunch and bring em back when i go to japan in april. its only 10 bucks over on amazon.co.jp http://www.amazon.co.jp/NISSAN%E3%80%8CL6-ENGINE-TUNING%E3%80%8D-engine-%E3%83%A0%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B7%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BA-ebook/dp/B00J7XJANY/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1418877732&sr=1-2&keywords=L6 edit: thats the kindle price. thought it was the hardcopy.
