Windshield Installment Questions
put it out in the sun to heat for a few hours. push downwards on the weatherstrip. It should move down to where you need it. also ive noted that the aftermarket gaskets take a few days to flatten and stretch out completley. there is a difference between the 2+2 and coupe weatherstrips but other people have used them and they work.

280z Plastic Inner Fender Question
It would be nice to know what car the ones you have came off of. Those are definately not from a 70-78. Any markings on them? They give better protection for the inner fender because they're one piece and water can't splash around them like the original set. If they fit good i'de just fiberglass over the cracks. My replacement set is cracking too only after a few years. Hard to find ones that aren't cracked. It would be real easy to make up fiberglass molds for these or glass completely over the top of the plastic.

old cars that small or new cars that big ?
Tire sizes have grown also. 13" and 14" inch rims used to be standard. That makes cars taller. Headlights have also gotten alot brighter. With these taller vehicles and super bright lights shining right in my car, I have to use my sun visor to keep from being blinded. All they see when they pass me must be my teeth glowing as i cuss at them.

Z cars in Japan commanding big bucks
Current bid is 15,000 usd on this rb26 swap of questionable condition and workmanship. On ebay it would probably go for 8-12k. Take that silly 432 wannabe badge off and it may go for more. This is an example of the lower end of the market there. Bottom line is if it doesn't look and smell like brand new the Japanese won't pay top dollar for anything. They don't like old used stuff. ??????????????????????? - ????!

260z auto trans cooling necessary?
"I heard it is crucial to prepare the copper correctly and to clean the radiator also from inside properly for the solder to hold." You do not have to prepare the "inside" just brush down the outside and apply flux. Apply heat from a propane torch until is hot and melts the solder upon contact with the radiator. But if you don't want to try the repair yourself, there must be a radiator shop within driving distance to you. As for the trans cooler, I really doubt that stock cooler inside the radiator is very effective at removing heat. There are other datsuns that use the same jatco trans and don't have the cooler.

A/C Evaporator Core
Had a good laugh when you pointed out the date on that original post. My god if that was the price back then i had better stock up on parts now. With a double digit inflation rate i don't think i can afford to drive mine in 10 years.

I am at my wit's end with these brakes!
"I checked between the booster and master cylinder and I didn't see anything that looks like it's fallen out of place or is disconnected." This is where a good picture could have helped possibly.

A/C Evaporator Core
you meant msa has them for 279 not 179 right? I thought damn thats cheap so went to their website to check if they had a sale. Now is your opportunity to get away from the nla expansion valve and go generic aftermarket. Or if you have any 79-81 evap cores laying around try them to see if they fit. They look pretty close in size looking at pictures.

Bought January 1970-build 240Z, need some parts and info
Welcome back to zcar ownership. I'm curious as to what motivated you to sell a car that you owned that long. Here is the website that has the 240z registry. the Z Car Home Page With lots of people lowering their cars, it should be easy to find someone who has a set of stock 240 springs. Put an ad in parts wanted in one of the zcar websites. Battery hold downs are probably still available at the dealer. But if you don't want to deal with dealer, ebay, motorsports, or black dragon have them.

Hitachi A8937 Replacement Air Compressor
good used ones come up on ebay occasionally. Living in houston you probably use the a/c alot so you need a brand new compressor. You can adapt other hitachi's but have to have new hoses that attach to the compressor built. I use the mjs170 on mine. It bolts on and is used in many subaru's and nissan's of the 90. You can still find brand new ones for cheap... errr under 300$. There are later ones with a serpentine belt. You can use that one if you change out the clutch for a v-belt clutch. I got these hoses from the wrecking yard. donor was a 90's sentra and the a/c shop built them so they would fit my 78. Its been 8 years and my a/c still works great. Im in hawaii so i use it every day year round.

stubborn shimmy finally fixed
I had a strange shimmy in my rt front wheel for quite a while that just seemed to get worse and worse as time went by. I was starting to get a strange scuffed wear pattern on the outside edge of the tire too. When making turns into parking lots or turning corners i'de hear a popping noise. Then in the final round the tire started shaking. Shaking so much that it started to shake the trans oil out of the strut. I first thought loose strut. Tightened down the gland nut. No fix. Tightened the steering rack hold downs. No fix. Then replaced the strut with good one.No fix. Then tightened down the wheel bearing. No fix. Then rotated the front tire to the back. A little improvement but wheel still had popping noise and sloppy steering and shake. Finally took off the hub and inspected the wheel bearings. Didn't look bad to me. A little scuffing but nothing that jumped out at me as a bad bearing. I then replaced the whole hub with another and the noise and shimmy were finally gone. I hope this helps someone else that has a stubborn wheel shake they can't find. Mileage on the car is about 150,000 so thats probably the max you want to put on the front wheel bearings. miles

Fan Blower just stopped working
why do you think its the a/c relay? do you not hear the a/c clutch engage when you turn on the a/c?
