  1. Also, I know it's off topic but what is the paint code on your 240? Is it the same one that they use on 350z's? I'm picking up a 240 in a week or so and that's the exact color I want to go for.
  2. I actually had this exact problem on my old Explorer. Everyone I talked to told me I was crazy and nothing was wrong. I changed every single component involving the clutch and tranny except the master. I ended up giving up and selling the car to a friend and a month later everything was fine. Let me know how it turns out
  3. Ok thanks for the info Arne
  4. I am looking at buying a 1970 240z but it seems to be just above my price range. The owner has offered to throw in a bunch of miscellaneous parts for an extra $300 but since it is already at the tip of my price range i am a little hesitant. The parts included are an l26 engine block, 3 four speed trannys, an extra set of SU carbs as well as a set of 260 carbs and some half axles in addition to a bunch of little things (badges, electronics, etc.) My question is, how much is all this stuff worth and how hard would it be to sell? If I can sell it and make a decent profit it would bring the car down into my price range. Thanks in advance, Austin

Ok thanks a ton Dave. The I do prefer the look of the 240s but have had trouble finding any at a decent price. I'll go check out the 260 and see where things go from there.

So you guys haven't had any more problems finding parts for the 260 than the other models? I am on a college budget so if I have to hold out for a 280 I will.

Also, I know that the 260s are also less desireable because the carbouraters are more conservative than the ones on the 240. If I were to swap them out with round top carbs would that really wake it up? Thanks for the info guys I have done a ton of research but still haven't found some answers

Yes it is the earlier model. Carbourated, blinkers on bottom etc. I don't actually own it, it is for sale in my area for $900 and I am considering buying it but I don't have the time or money to search around for parts if it doesn't take 240 and 280 parts. I have read that alot of parts are interchangable but would like to hear from someone who has actually been there done that.

I know this thread is old, but I was wondering how hard it is to find parts for the 260 here in the states. I was thinking about buying a '74 but was unsure since they only made it for one year. Also, will it accept parts from the 280 and 240?
