Thanks Blue, good to know I can use one of them if I need to. I just discovered that a local Autozone store by my house has the booster for my car for $113.00 with the core. If there isn't one there in stock Ill go with either Racepages or the used 280z one I found. Thanks!

Maybe instead of trying to get another clear car you could pay 15 bucks and look up the VIN on your car. You can get the background info on it like ownership history, where it was sold at, and who actually owns it. Then contact the guy that the title is under. My 2 cents.

Got my brake booster apart, to bad the diaphragm was torn up a bit in the process of restoring the thing.

A 280z booster will swap? I know where a 77 280z is with one...

Your right Steve, one of my favorite parts of the Autorama was the Z section there. Once I get the car on the road Ill take your advise and check out some clubs around here. Hopefully Ill be pleasantly surprised.

Hmmm Ill have to check into that when I get the harness. Looking through the receipts from my car the alternator on the car is practically new, but if I am not pleased with its performance that sounds like a good upgrade for it. Plus, if the VR is bad on my car it will make the decision that much easier. Thanks!

Thanks guys for all the info, since the car will not be moving for a bit I am going to address the brake system first then replace the battery on it shortly. Dave's harness does sound like a great upgrade to the car, since I am not the best at electrical work I couldnt make my own up. Plus, Im putting brighter HID lights on it so ill have to have the harness in there.

So i got the booster apart with a moderate amount of bleeding and fussing.... Turns out that the diaphragm is torn and in fairly bad shape but all there. What could I do about that? Would a 280z diaphragm work? Is there something I could fix it with? Or is this the end of my booster?:disappoin

Wow and I thought i had a hard time getting my brake booster out! I also love the M coupe, I always love seeing them drive by me in my 3 series. Keep up the work and photos too!

I'm hoping it's the battery as well since it has sat for so long. Ill start the car up for a while and lit it warm up before i drive it around the block ( car isn't tagged yet ) and after a bit of driving, if the car sits at idle the lights will slowly go dim. Once I get the brakes on my car situated, Ill get a new battery on it.

I know several of us regret selling our old Zs. My Dad had a few that he wishes he still had today.:disappoin

Geezz that kit from MSA is a little bit pricey..... Would the voltage regulator even contribute to the dimming of the lights? I'm planning on putting HIDs in it so I guess ill need it regardless.

Cool I'll have to read up on that, I'm planning on replacing the battery anyways and going through some electrical work on the car to ensure it's reliability. Thanks for the info!

Just wanted to see who was here in Texas and had a classic Z. Does anyone know of clubs or events that take place here? I know there's the Z Club of Texas, but they're more or less aimed at newer Z cars I hear. I'm in the Dallas area hopefully we can get some more classics on the road around here!

Blue, how on earth did you separate the two parts of the booster? All I do is bend studs!

Thanks Blue I think Ill go with your suggestion and get one from them. Have you bought anything from them before? I'm just a little hesitant to buy things on the internet sometimes!

Attempted to rebuild the brake booster today, for some reason the thing wont come apart..... Maybe tomorrow

So I got my Z running after sitting for a while and lately I've noticed at night that when I turn the headlights on, they slowly go dim until I rev the car up. The car has an older battery in it that will hold a charge enough to start it for about a week, could this be the answer to my problem or could it be the voltage regulator? I know it has a good alternator on it too. Also, my turn signals wont work at low idle, only when I rev up slightly they will work. Any ideas of what that could be? Are these problems from the same source? Thanks guys!

I know this is probably another dumb question, but since my car is a 72 and Black Dragon sells the boosters for 70-71 cars and 73-78 cars where would my car fit in?
