Got a fair few...they're cheaper to maintain than the real thing
  2. I better keep it brief, I'm off topic. But I do think $12k is more than realistic for an excellent original Kenmeri...if only it had come up a week earlier... Bellett pics here: http://www.bellett.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2033 Gave it a good fang today too, loving it! Cheers, Duane
  3. Amazing, I would have paid $12k at the drop of a hat for it...but bought an Isuzu Bellett GT for the same money late last week! NOW they all come out of the woodwork. :disappoin By the way, someone called me last week offering me a h/t project, I referred them to this site, so hoped he might have been in touch (if not already a member). So, I'm out of the 240K market for now, cheerio everyone:)
  4. The gold-digging out there is getting outta hand! Still, could be worse: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/hahndorf/cars/1950-volkswagen-kombi-van-minivan/1004947999
  5. Had he left it as was, the price would be obtainable IMO...but in bits?
  6. So, this one went offshore? Well, for what it's worth, as I've been looking for a loooong time for a good original Kenmeri, $6k was an absolute screaming bargain and, had a still been employed, ~$10k is what I'd have considered paying for the car regardless of how MR240K's costs stack up. Money making exercise? I'm just glad to hear this cars not going to be cut.
  7. Didn't think it'd last long. At least the world will never run out of cars...frustratingly, we'll just have to delay those classic motoring aspirations
  8. Very nice rig indeed!
  9. Really genuinely sorry to hear about your job, and the car (regardless of what you had planned...you talked me around), I'm jobless one month now, otherwise I would have gladly thrown the money at you. Let hope one or both of us is back in a job soon mate. Good luck with your search. Duane
  10. ...and I thought you were an expert on Kenmeri's... There were 5-speed manuals on Gumtree last time I looked (a week back), one in Tassie, one here in SA. A manual conversion at least sounds like a sensible modification, but you'll need more than just the box obviously.
  11. Fair enough...my bad. Put a blown 350 in it.:stupid:
  12. Don't cut it, or I'll go mental.
  13. True...I just hate the idea of a classic 'G-spec' car being altered, when there's plenty of shells and project cars out there. I was pissed off that I couldn't buy this car in the first place, but I'm almost 'postal' after I read Laggy's forum link! There's plenty of us out there that appreciate these beasties for what they are, and they're damn hard to find (almost 4 years since I last spotted a good original car).
  14. One owner, low k's, and he's gonna chop it up for another replica...get a shell you moron!
  15. Finally, exactly what I've been looking for over the last 2 years...arrives 2 weeks before I lose my job Not. Freakin'. Happy. http://www.justauto.com.au/justcars/buy_and_sell/for_sale/0fd9a504-f586-4aa6-bca0-097c6f68c65a?parent_page=%2Fjustcars%2Fsearch&search_type_make=DATSUN&keywords=Keywords&search_type_model=&search_category=&search_type_year=&search_details_lowest_price=&search_details_highest_price=&search_type_series=&search_location_state=&item_position=0 Someone snap it up, don't wreck it by sticking a turbo in it.

Just buy a RHD and drive it backwards.

Two outta three ain't bad! ...could still go a little lower though.

Absolutely! Sorry, last threadjack. Loving your work Laggy, this car is turning into a work of art! A couple of you guys are really giving these cars the treatment they deserve...I still remember the days when every one on the road was rusted out, belching smoke, sporting a towbar and had rooted rear suspension, really belied what a great looking car they are.
  19. Amazing work Adam!

Oh, of course, you're right...I just think, aside form erasing the styling cues around the rear arch, it's a shame it destroys the bodywork too, as it's hard to reverse if you're not a fan. How many Capri owners are regretting cutting out the 'hockey stick' and flaring their guards? Now that original un-molested cars are getting $30k+, just about all of them. Blue on blue was the coolest colour scheme on the planet too, IMO. However, just looking at your build thread it's hard to believe anything you end up with is going to look anything but brilliant Adam...well done man.

Flared guards just don't do it for me, removes everything that's cool about Kenmeri styling...go with rad neggie camber, tuck the rear wheels under and cruise...tough. Never seen that 4-door either, there's not many around I haven't seen, especially these days. Anyways, I thread-jack. :stupid:
  22. Too late? Adam...how's your's going man? I was so stressed I missed out, but great it stayed in the family!
  23. Swarf, are you sure you don't want to hang on to it and wait for a better shell? I know it then becomes a long term project, but could potentially save you from losing a lot of money on the whole caper. As you know, I've been searching for a good hardtop forever (so have you), they're very hard to find, but project cars pop up on a regular basis...I could probably put you on to a better shell in SA, even the track car for sale has a better body (I've seen it in person). Worth consideration? Sorry to see it didn't work out well on the face of things, and I can understand you wanting to ditch it, but I think you could use it as a parts car for another project and turn the whole thing into a positive...if you're willing to take on the project. I'm not willing to take on a project, that's why I've been looking for years! You can either jump back in the queue or work with what you have. Cheers, Duane
  24. That sucks man, after all that work finding it  Without the rust, I'd have snapped it up for the buy now price, but the boss told me I'm going to be jobless soon It's been a rollercoaster ride trying to land a Kenmeri over the last few years. Hope you get a lucky break and get to keep the car bud, all the best.

It's not well. Thanks Declan, but I definitely don't need another project, really looking for a car I can jump in and drive immediately...that's been the issue. Projects aren't difficult to find...I think there's a few of us on here who remember when you could get a 240K for a slab of beer, most of them were run into the ground.
