Here's a plan but know finished info. Lots of reading here also but a lot of the pics were lost when we went to a newer forum platform. Personally I would leave it as is and buy a pickup. https://www.google.com/search?q=sloped+deck+to+flat+deck+classiczcars.com&rlz=1C1BOFA_enUS494US494&oq=sloped+deck+to+flat+deck+classiczcars.com&aqs=chrome..69i57.14241j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

I believe in you! You're going to be fine. It will take some time though. Hang in there buddy. ❤
  3. When I first bought my orange 240 it ran like poo poo. Could not figure it out for the life of me. There was a black wire loose on the original points dizzy. Got that secured and it came back from the dead. Then I went to the ZX electronic distributor. Zero problems and runs better in my opinion. Cost $150 for the distributor and lower amp coil, bigger cap and button. One of the top 5 upgrades to me.

I've always thought September was the switch month but I'm no car dealer or Z spert. My 9/76 is titled a an early '77. Try checking any stickers under the hood? That's where they put recall corrections stickers. I know the PVC hose routing is different from 77 to 78. The rear deck will be flat on a '78 where the '77s have a ramp upwards behind the taillights for the smaller spare tire.

Check SEM color charts. Seems like Pacific Blue has been discussed on here before but if memory serves me right, which it does not, may be too dark. Good luck.

I've read the primaries on some were too large killing low end torque. Here's one I remember. https://www.zdriver.com/forums/240z-280zxt-s30-s130-tech-tips-275/headers-explained-part-1-a-17672/

MSA ceramic header, ports matched to the head. All day long. The heat reduction is unbelievable. And it sounds great. Lug it and it's quiet. Turn more rpms it will get louder for sure but it's a fantastic sound. I have the 2.5" full exhaust from MSA also on both of my Zs. Best bang for the bucks IMO. I will say my 2.8 needed a $20 resonator installed but my 2.4 sounds wonderful without the resonator. I have not read info on the Arizona product but the Pacesetter, like Zed Head says, does not have the correct flange thickness.

Sounds like me and local liquor, "its not that bad".
  9. I read all your post, you're no half arse I know. But! I must say this as I learned the hard way. Have your throwout bearing pressed on at a machine shop properly. I did my first one myself with the old bearing and a 2lb hammer, it has a slight spinning noise out of gear. The 2nd one I paid $10 and it makes absolutely NO noise out of gear. Just an FYI. Cliff

About 1/4th down you'll see it here. Hopefully it'll help, did me. https://datsunzgarage.us/engine/

Use clear hose. You see it before it gets in your mouth. We had a fuel tank on a trailer for boat gas we could take to a gas station and fill up. Much cheaper than buying it on the river.
  12. I've been happy with Exedys from amazon.com. Have them in my two Zs. $100 back a few years ago. 6009 is the number I remember.
  13. Use your video device as your helper. Those wheel bearings were a hard torque to figuring out as I recall. There was something in the fsm I believe. Tighten to a certain place then back off? Good luck, it would be nice if the battery was loose like Zed Head said.
  14. Too cheap, I agree with that. It'll slip with your motor I'd bet.

There you go @carcrazyken! Thanks Zkars.
  17. What about the calipers and pads? Are they tight? Hot out and bored, please excuse my redundancy.
  18. Have you tried unloading that wheel/tire and checking for unusual movement? Could be a bad bearing or race? Does the steering wheel shake while driving? Braking?

I want to move this to the top. I'm trying to facilitate a "Pay it foward" kind of thing.

  21. @cargears will send an email to him since it's older. Good luck.
  22. How long since a fluid and filter change? That seems to help once the filer clogs and won't allow flow. Start with the simple/cheap stuff.

You are the Man. Whether you have it or not. Thank you for looking!

Im helping out a fellow member who's in need of a fuel damper bracket that mounts above the pump. I've searched from W to the last W.com and haven't had any luck. If anyone has a 280 parts car maybe you could help us out? It would be very much appreciated. Here's what he needs... Thank you for any replies. Cliff
